Oooooh I love formal parties! Cocktails are even better! I'll have a Long Island iced tea please. I would like to nominate my parents for their contributions to the heap of straw(felt more like lead) on my back. Father was an authoritiarian alcoholic abusive overseer in the cult who moved constantly in order to buy property and fund KHs. I went to 13 schools. At least I hardly saw him. My mother was passive aggressive and IMPOSSIBLE to please. She was the most negative ungrateful joyless person I have ever known. Even when I was pioneering and married to an elder I wasn't doing enough in her eyes. If I bought something new i was materalistic. If I went on vacation, I was lazy, If I wore make up I looked liked a "streetwalker" As a child if I disagreed with her she told me I would have been stoned in Isrealite times. Under the catagory of Elders: My millstone award goes to the ones who secertly had phone conversations with my DFed ex husband. The ex made wild, unfounded accusations about my new JW elder husband and I. He was clearly criminally insane and yet the elders treated us as if we were on restrictions. They never had the guts to come to us to get our side bc they didn't want to admit that they got their info from a notorious liar, adulterer, drugdealer etc. Soon after we lost our "priveledges", hubby became ill. The elders refused to let him have phone tie in. They refused to kive us our KMs and magazines. They NEVER called to see how we were. We simply faded but still believed this was Gods org gone bad. Under the catagory of Governing body Its a tie between the GB member who proposistioned hubby when he was at beth-hell, the GB leader who had naked Bible discussions in the sauna with some of the "boys" at beth-hell(70's) Then there is themodern group who refused to pay back the money my ever so faithful mother conditionally loaned them. Over a period of 120 years my family had outright donated the equivelent of millions of $$$. (The family fortune) Then when mom was broke and we had bankrupted ourselves paying for her care we asked them to repay only the last $ 20,000so she could pay her hospital bill. 3 letters begging later, they refused to answer in print. Having connections at beth-hell hubby called the desk. The answer? yes we got the letters. No we didn't answer. you should get her on wellfare. This, from an org that doesn't pay taxes! (last straw) Thanks to you all! Without your millstones we would still be trying to measure up to your impossible and ever changing adjenda.

This Year's "Millstone Awards." A gala event.
by return of parakeet inluke 17:2 -- "it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.".
what exdub, when he/she was a dub, has not been "stumbled" by their loving fellow dubs?
according to wts doctrine, those who cause others to stumble in their faith deserve death.

During Your IN Years If You Had Anointed At Your Hall, What Were They Like?
by LoisLane looking for Superman inthe scoop of humanity at one khall, the anointed ones" were a mixed group.. one bro, h. had been in for eons.
he was df for adultery, back in the day when they would announce your sin openly from the platform to everyone.
he just kept on coming and partaking until he was reinstated.

Hi Lois! The 1st anointed person I met was my aunt. She was the kind of person a JW would picture as a co ruler with Christ. She never drew attention to herself , was intelligent, warm and friendly (much more than my own parents). Instead of talking the talk she walked the walk. Gave up children and pioneered until the rest home. Baptized in the 20's etc. ONTOH, those i met who were baptized more recently that "partook" were afflicted with one form or another of mental illness ---period. However, since i now don't believe a word of what the WTBT$ says (or EVER said) I question the whole "anointed" thing in the first place. MY aunt would probably have been a class act whether or not she was part of any religion.

Feeling numb and alone
by DeWandelaar insince some time i post here on this forum... i am always willing to help people or to express my opinion if it helps someone.... i have already posted something about myself but i haven't told much about my history.. i am married with a nice wife and i have three kids (two of my own and a stephdaughter).

Breastfeeding in Bathrooms...
by cognac inthe natick, ma assemble hall used to have it's own room for breastfeeding mothers.
they changed this room to the accounting room or something like that and now have seats available for breastfeeding inside the bathroom.. there is one other small room available for breastfeeding but they close that off when the baptism is going on.
needless to say, i used to get so pissed off that they actually wanted me to breastfeed in the bathroom that i would threaten to a brother that i would take my boob out in front of everybody and that is there problem because breastfeeding in a bathroom is unsanitary.. one year they put me in some backroom.

Ha ha ha ! I'm enjoying this thread. Not bc you awsome mothers suffered but bc it emphasises the cult think of the WTBT$. The comment about reminding nursing mothers this is no time to be having children is what my mother dealt with 61 years ago. I, in turn, heard it all through the 70's.
When i finally had my babies in the early 80's mI y experience was different. First, I never had to attend a dc with a nursing baby due to the time they were born and weaned. (late preg. one year, weaned the next) Both born the same month.
Second, the circuit assemblys had a nursing room. If they hadn't i would have nursed from my seat or the car depending on the weather.
The biggest difference it seems is at the meetings. My cong. at the time was very liberal. Many were popping out babies after the 75 debacle. I found myself nursing with at least 4 or more moms at at time. It was a real gabfest. More like a nursury school than a cult meeting. Those that played it right hardly heard a word of the meeting and therefore became even less indoctrinated. I'm sure tales of this enjoyable association eventually got back to Brooklyn. They put a screeching halt to it.

5 Reasons Why the DEAF Masturbation Video is different than anything before...
by BluePill2 inas some of you have noticed the asl video warning against masturbation (another guilt trip) is creating waves.
this is not small fry.
1. it is humorous - most topics (like other policies) are serious/depressing (blood, shunning, pedos).

As a born in who remembers the horrified look on my mothers face when, at the meeting at age 3 I asked, " What does fornication mean? What does adultry mean? Hearing or deaf signing is irrelevant. JWs have for at least 60 yrs (probably much longer) used language and subjects inappropriate for children at the KH. The fact that much of what they stated as "Jehovah's viewpoint" was nowhere found in the scriptures is reason enough to leave the subjects alone.
I remember some idiot who many years ago gave a talk to the hearing about the Song of Soloman. His talk would have been rated R if made into a movie. He REALLY got sexually explicit with his descriptions. When it was over the whole audience needed a cigarette! There were many children under 8yrs old whose parents were very uncomfortable. They mistakenly thought THEY would be able to decide when and how they would explain the "facts of life" to their kids. If this talk would have been put on video I guarentee it would have also gone viral.
Inapropriate is inappropriate whether spoken or signed. If a speaker uses his voice, facial expressions and words in an over-dramatic way, IT'S FUNNY! !! Otherwise, how in the heck did Jim Carey get so popular????? Can you imagine Jim Carey giving a talk about the "Sin of Self-Abuse" with the WT$s OWN manuscript?????? ALL of us would be on the floor LOL. It's the delivery stupid. The hispanic translator is funny period. I'll bet his marriage talk is fuunny and even his announcements are funny. He's the deaf communities answer to Outlaw and Billy the ex Bethalite. Get it?

DOC and Konceptual, I agree. The mind control is so strong a person has to become fed up, usually over multiple issues, over time, to BEGIN to look deep enough to find TTATT.
I have spoken with two other posters on this board who, like me, said, "If the Elders and the rest, had shown just a TINY bit of kindness in my situation, I would still be in." Goofy or changing doctrines, or scandles are usually not enough to bump a true believer out. It takes a PERSONAL attack of some kind to make the person willing to explore the other issues that are troubling.

Any born-ins have this attitude about converts?
by Nambo inso there was this great gang of us, from south london, manchester and wolverhampton, went to socialise with a group in fishguard in wales.. amongst the conversations one of the single sisters stated, "i could never marry anybody who used to be in the world".. i guess a lifetime of knocking on doors had given her the impression there couldnt possibly be a convert in her midst, never mind later alone with her in her mgb.. so whats with this, did you think we had rat scabies or were possesed by demons or something?.

I agree that "hotness" trumps any stigma of being either too inexperienced or visa versa. Pretty people have no trouble getting the opposite sex to date them.
As far as attitude goes I've noticed that assh***s are assh***s . Zeal is zeal. I know of zealous converts who looked down on the born ins as if they were Esau (sp?) not appriciating our spiritual gifts. But they were zealous "worldly people too. Workaholics and worse .OTOH, people who were laid back before converting tend to be laid back afterward. Its a personality thing apart from the cult.

Do you ever just start CRYING for apparently no reason?
by Terry ini spoke to a friend of mine about this not too long ago.. we are "of a certain age".. the subject came up somehow.. .
i'll be watching a tv commercial or i'll see some people in a park or a simple passing thought will suddenly induce a profound.
sense of---well, how to describe it?

Terry, Many good thoughts so far. I'd like to add that for several months after my surgery last winter I had bouts of crying for no appearent reason as well.
My hubby would try to help me "reframe" by pointing out all the positives in our life compared to a few years ago-to no avail. I think 2 things were in play for me at this time. 1: A reaction to coming off the anesthiesa and pain meds. 2. After the adrenaline of the phyisical pain and emotional anxiety of illness had subsided I released the emotions that had pent up during the crisis. Maybe this is the case for you.
I'll give you an example of my theory: I have a relative who had two babys (only 16mos apart) who were born with a rare disease similar to muscular dystrophy but advanced faster and more severe. She cared for them at home (along with 2 other healthy young children) as long as she could but at about age two they had to be hospatilized. For 7 and 3 years respectivly she watched them both suffer terribly and die. All during the ordeal she remained an active JW and devoted wife and mother. However, AFTER the crisis she had a complete nervous breakdown with non-stop crying. While we HAVE to be strong we usually are. When it is safe to unravel then we do.
I have a hunch your crying will lessen over the next few months as you gain your physical strength and purge the residue from the meds and stress
my 2 cents
