Adventurousone, Hi to you and hubby too! you are too kind. On another thread i said that my opinion is that if a persons nature is to be caring and kind they will tend be that way regardless /in spite of their religion. OTOH, if a person is an ass %^ by nature he will be even worse with authority or in a religion/cult.

caliber, funny you should mention your experience about your brief work at a church. I remember the days when you were NOT to do any work whatsoever for a religious org. In fact, a dub was not to even shop at a Salvation Army store etc. Yet some years later our cong rented the Catholic Social services building for their memorial. (I kid you not!) The catholic sign is promanant on the building. Hubby and I were horrified when we(active JWs at the time) drove into the parking lot and saw it. How's THAT for hypocracy? Excuse me for going off topic but after all, it's MY thread.

Policing the Flock: Does it vary from country to country?
by Londo111 inso many stories ive read on jwn shows that the policing the flock is alive and well.
elders come after faders, especially if they are suspected of the dreaded a-word, the jw scarlet letter, a for apostasy.
if elders are gunning for a person, they will do whatever it takes.. .

IMO, Not only does it vary country to country, cong to cong, elder to elder but accused to accused. by this i mean my former FIL performed numerous steakouts and gleefully recounted the stories in full detail. (so much for confidentiality) OTOH, when the accused were his sons....................The whole thing was swept under the carpet and the persons who made the accusations suddenly found themselves in comittee meetings on the hotseat.

Caliber, I see. If the world (TM) leaves you broken and bleeding and you decide to grovel enough, you might be extended a welcomeback at the KH. however, If the carnage is caused by THEM too bad . You must "not have been of our sort". Hey, they might actually be right about that!

It's been years since i have been to a meeting- crickets. Nothing! I know I should be glad I/we are not being harrassed to return.......yet...... bummer nobody misses me.

Let's lighten things up a little
by JeffJ insince many of us in the us are watching the clock before a holiday i thought i would resurrect a topic that has been dealt with in the forums in the past but not for a couple years.
pranks.. i spend a large amount of time thinking up pranks for revenge or just for the heck of it to amuse myself.
i will post the ones i remember to hopefully make everyone's day brighter.. first off, one of the concrete bases anchoring a fence in my back yard started crumbling and the fence post started to lean.

I've got a very old one for you. Back in the 70's (the only decade when it actuallywas kinda fun to be a dub). Bro J was a notorious practical joker. We were especially fond of him bc he is so funny. One hot summer afternoon when our cong had one of the picnics at the lake, I decided to secretly put a piece of chocolate cake on the drivers seat of his pick up. Knowing it would be dark when he got in his truck to go home, I was pretty sure he'd sit on it without noticing. Sure enough, I saw him get in and sit on the cake! Hahahah I let his daughter in on the joke (she loved it) and told her to let me know what happened when he got home and his wife P saw the gooey brown stain on his pants. (she stayed home that day)Well........................... Later that night I got a call from him. He was very serious and said "P is very mad at you" (she was my best friend) "Why?" I said. "Because I sat on our brand new sofa when I got home and now i'ts stained." I was horrified!!!! Turns out He made that up and pranked me worse than i pranked him. By the way, that whole wonderful family quit Jws cold turkey a few years later.
