Like some of you I observe at least 2 catagories of dubs. 1st: The True Believers who listen, read WTS literature, and try to OBEY all the ridiculous rules and regulations. These people are worn out and sad. Watchtower life has cost them dearly. 2ond: The Posers. Usually born in to the "family religion". They warm the seats at the KH but don't take much of it seriously. These are the ones who get some secondary ed, take vacays. plan for retirement, start businesses, rest a couple of weekends a month, go to the gym, and SOCIALIZE but ONLY with LIKE MINDED ONES who know how to keep their mouth shut. These people are mostly happy as clams because they have it all--family friends and enough money. JW life has not cost nearly as much because they do what they want when no one is looking.

by Phizzy inwhenever i talk to jw's, and even in some of the jw official videos, i detect a definite vibe of sadness coming off these people.. i am very sensitive to "atmospheres" and to peoples emotional state, you wouldn't think so, because more often than not i do not react to what i detect, i just let people get on with it.. but i do get this feeling that they are sad, probably because very, very, very deep down they realise that it is all false, maybe ?.

@Lando, you're right about it being a natural progression to car salesman. In fact, years ago when my cousin and Hubby left the circuit work he became a car salesman. Of course he was good at it!

XYZ, LOL Hubby's aunt bought one of these overpriced boats. She used it for bragging purposes. Dunno if it impressed anybody or not. Paying too much is part of the cachet'- a big fat VISIBLE donation to the worldwide work. Besides these cars already know the way to paradise. Whoo hoo!!!

since i've been a child my mother has studied on and off with jw's ( i'm now 34) so i've been around it most of my life, i studied on and off myself for around 10 years.
thank's to this site and jwfacts i'll never study or step foot inside a kingdom hall again.

ADCMS, I appreciate the WT quotes because they are indisputable. They not only said these things they PRINTED them. The WTBT$ can remove or alter statements like this on their CD rom or websites but they CANNOT remove them from the hardcopy bound volumes collecting dust in many JW households. We dug some of ours out of mothballs and I'm now glad I didn't toss them. The WTBTS can no longer pee on my leg and tell me it's raining. I have what they said in WRITING and so do many others.

Welcome Chris! Congrats on doing the research BEFORE you took the irrevokable step of baptism. Your letter was perfect. It's "John"who needs help figuring out what no means. You are wise not to talk to mom about anything JW for awhile. Doing so could cause her to defend it so much she decides to join!!! Remember too, no matter how nice "John" is he is a cult member. He is programmed to recrute you and your mother at any cost. In his mind he is saving you from yourselves. He has already proved this by completely ignoring your letter. He is on a mission now. As a JW he has been taught that HIS salvation depends on his warning others. He probably actually cares about you and doesn't want to see you die. Read hassans books ASAP and be careful. BTW, IMO you were smart not to give reasons in your letter. As the poster said, if he asks why, have him guess. Then let him keep guessing. Brilliant!

Interesting how wide spread this is! Flipper is right. The dishonesty starts at the top of the WTBT$ and trickels/pours downward. The society was HAPPY to TAKE my familys fortune when my parents and grandparents gave it to them but pay a teeny tiny amount back??? Not so much. The society is well aware that my father paid for least 6 KHs in California that I know of. (there could be more) this was before the quick build arrangement. If he knew how they treated my mother he would blow a gasket. At least it helped me wake up.

Lois, hubby has a friend who is the poster boy for cognitive dissonance. He was the person who led me to this site, critises everything about the 'Borg: yet thinks it is Gods organization gone off the reservation. Still he has continued to believe that the GB are like the bad kings in Isreal. It's taken him so long to add everything up it was became anoying. Finally, I asked him Ok, so WHAT YEAR was it the "truth"?......Crickets.

What Was The Effect of You Knowing Hypocritical JW's?

Put me down for hypocracy helping me see the real WTBT$. The worst was when they refused to pay back a $20,000.00 "conditional gift" to my elderly, destitute widowed mother. We wrote 3 respectful letters stating her plight, her very long record of faithful service, and the history she and my father had of huge $$$ donations (way over 7 figures!) And her relationship with the then president ,Max Larson. Hubby, an ex Bethelite had these letters hand delivered to at least 2 GB members by a friend. ALL went unanswered. Hubby called the desk and the verbal answer was put her on welfare! So much for the Bible's mandate to care for orphans and widows, "cast your bread upon the waters", "the wicked borrows but does not pay back" yada yada.
