It has been argued because not enough informaton was provided in the op, that the story is unreliable. While this may be tecnically true, to me it is more likely than not a believable story. I personally knew a 17 yo JW girl who was declared mature enough to decide to refuse a life saving blood transfusion. She died of lucemia within months of her origional diagnosis. This was 18 years ago in Susanville, California. Maybe some of you here know of this case. The parents bragged over and over how their daughter gave such "a powerful witness". I think it was their way of coping with the unecessary loss of their only child. MY point: How do any of us know how this beautiful, tallented, loving girl REALLY felt about dieing for a doctrine? She was a 3rd gen girl with a reg pio mother and PO Elder father and grandfather who was the Cong Servant for over 40 years! She was captive of a cult. If she would have agreed to a transfusion where would she go to recover? Who would support her decision? She knew FULL WELL she would be disfellowshipped and disowned by her ENTIRE family and friends. She had NO REAL CHOICE. Incidently, the doctors as well as the parents were fully convinced that a transfusion/s could have saved her.

A child that DIDN'T want to die ... a blood experience you won't read in Awake! or on JW.ORG
by wannabefree inwhile doing work for a client in her office recently, we got into a light discussion about religion.
she knew i was one of jehovahs witnesses as our business relationship started while i was still a loyal and believing jw.
anyway, i said something that she knew didnt quite fit and she said ... i thought you were one of jehovahs witnesses ... i shared my story ... she felt comfortable to confide in me a story as to why, even though she has had dealings with jehovahs witnesses who she thinks are good people, she would never even consider listening to them about their religion.. i asked her if she would write it down for me so that i could share ... she agreed.. this is her experience.. .

How to DF 2 PeopleĀ With ZERO Proof! New YouTube video and article
by RayPublisher inthis story is quite remarkable and no doubt many will appreciate it being told.
it is telling for several reasons; it highlights the fact that the watchtower organization can expel and marginalize anyone for literally anything if they are crossed.
they did that to ray franz back in the early 1980s and they recently have done it to these fine folks.. there are some six pieces of documentation in the account and it is in some ways a complicated mess, but it really boils down to a couple of active witnesses informing on someone to the elders.

What % of JW's would have a blood transfusion?
by jwfacts inon the current thread about blood simon made an interesting point that the stats are skewed because we don't know how many jehovah's witnesses secretly accept blood.
what are your thoughts about how high this figure may be, and did you or anyone you found out about ever accept blood?.
as a side note.

In response to Newyork: I agree! My Elder realative had a baby who was born needing a blood transfusion. The baby was made a ward of the court as is now routine in these cases. The elder told me more than once how GLAD he is that the decision was taken out of his hands because the baby is alive and well.

Some years ago the wife of the PO in our cong had a blood transfusion. Even though it was common knowledge this occured neither she or her husband had any announcement made about them or priveledges removed. The excuse they circulated was that their daughter had given permission without their knowledge. Mind you, nobody believed a word of it because they never took any action against the daughter, the doctors, or the hospital. The PO was a "good 'ole boy" with other rumors about him, not the least of which, was incest. When the CO leaned on him a little he simply moved (temporarily) then returned a couple of years later when it was all forgotton. He is still an elder!

Since most JW's HATE giving talks and doing meeting parts, why does the Watchtower Society still require it?
by yadda yadda 2 ini loathed giving talks and doing meeting parts.
i dreaded all assignments.
i was intelligent enough and always did a good job, but all my jw life (born in to mid-30's) i enjoyed giving talks about as much as a visit to the dentist.. i am sure that 90% of all jw's similarly dislike it.

Hi
by LucidChimp ini've been lurking here for a year or two now (since i stumbled across ttatt and was stumbled by it), i even started an account some while back and asked a couple of questions.. but i never actually stood up and said hi... so hi, my name's jon and i'm a dubaholic.. .
i was "born in" in the 80s - and grew up on a liquid diet of cheap suits and revelation book pictures (i mean really, group after group just staring at the pictures while not listening, i must have spent more time staring at those pictures than i have any work of art in my life, literally hours at each lurid picture).
i "left" in my teens, but apparently lacking any kind of actual sense, returned to studying with a childhood friend from the congregation in my twenties (although i was never baptised, my entire small family were dubs, so i saw more witnesses than "worldly people" on a regular basis.. they love bombed my arse for years!)..

Welcome Lucidchimp! Congrats on seeing through the "love bombing' and not getting baptised. You are entering the best years of your life free from the stranglehold of the Watchtower. It looks as though you have your family too. Woo hoo
