As a faders Hubby and I must keep Christmas to ourselves. (DFing is not an option at the moment.) Frankly, I envy all of you who are free to enjoy any or all aspects of the Holliday. I couldn't care less about the religious part but I REALLY want to decorate my yard to the hilt! I want a huge tree not only to see how beautiful I can make it but for the sheer experience I have missed by being a born in. It is frustrating to be mentally free of Watchtower bonds yet not free to express myself. You people are the only ones who understand. Thanks for listening.

Ladies, How Big Is Your Diamond Engagement Ring?
by minimus ini notice a trend that suggests that many ladies either have a one carat or bigger diamond ring or much smaller if any.. do you have a diamond ring and if you do, what size carat is it?

My parents married in the 40's and were both second gen JWs and pious-sneerng. Mom go ta plain gold band later after some guy hit on her bc she wasn't wearing a wedding ring. 10 years later, my dad inherited a lot of money, became a sucessful businessman, took my mom to Europe and bought her a 1carrat+ wedding ring. After he died she remarried and had the diamond reset into a new wedding ring. After her second husband died she wore it until I was about to remarry. She gave me her ring and I had the diamond reset into an antique ring. The jewler botched the job so hubby and I picked out a new setting and put the diamond in it. When my daughter marries I will probably give it to her so this diamond has been in at least 4 wedding rings. How's that for recycling??!!

Confusedandalone, every time I read your posts I feel a warm smile cross my face. You have been to the mountaintop of the WTBT$ and also experienced the the worst cult treatment. Your grace and humor are charming and you are also wise beyond your years. If and when you leave JWN it will be a loss to this community! Still, I completely understand the wisdom in simply leaving the religion and all its poison behind. You and your precious family are going to have a wonderful life ahead!!! (I wish I were free to put up Christmas decorations)

I Found Out Why I Can't Find My Keys But My Wife Usually Can!
by Perry intypical male brain top, typical female brain below.. .
researchers found that many of the connections in a typical male brain run between the front and the back of the same side of the brain, whereas in women the connections are more likely to run from side to side between the left and right hemispheres of the brain.

As a 3rd gen born in (in the early 50's) I just always accepted that my "role" was to be a wife and mother. I didn't know any sisters who had jobs so I never had any role models. My parents pioneered even after i was born. To have their approval I was expected not only to be a virgin JW but a pioneer as well. No wonder when i was proposed to at 16 I accepted bc I thought that marriage was easier than pioneering!!! LOL.

A Question for Sons of Anarchy Fans
by Watkins inwhat is it about this show that compells you to tune in?
is it the cool choppers?
lol, no - really, i want to know.. a friend of my hubby's, when he learned we like the walking dead, said, "if you like that show, you'll love sons of anarchy.".

First let me say hubby and I are rabid fans of Sons and we have asked the same questions about WD. We don't find Zombies the least bit interesting-go figure. Hubby asks: Why are people interested in Pirates? Vikings? Mafia? What is interesting to me about SOA is twofold. 1: Believe it or not, much of the plot centers around family issues: step father-son, mother-son, grandmother- grandbabies, mothers on drugs, mothers who want safety for their children, fathers who want to change occupations in order to protect the safety of their wives and kids. Loyalty issues surface nearly every week as well. The dilima faced is do I do the "right thing" or remain in an illegal, immoral lifestyle to please my family? Sound familiar? 2: The writing and acting are exceptional. I have lived in nearly every town mentioned in the show. All is accurate. My ex was married to and dated the same women as Gemma, and the moms of Jack's sons. The portrayal is spot on. My ex was a LOT like Clay and my son was a LOT like Jackson. Ex had friends a LOT like those in the MC. My ex's death was one that could have been on the show. Verrrrry strange circumstances.......

Honest survey question on effectiveness of 'apostacy'
by Simon init seems like lots of people have big dreams of 'destroying the watchtower'.
it's usually linked to a story of how they were wronged and want some revenge.
do these 'in your face' attempts to convince people that the truth isn't the truth really have an effect?.

The name calling is the weakest argument in favor of apostasy imo. I am so glad that when I first visited this site 2years ago I didn't happen to run across any heated threads. Instead i read personal accounts of mistreatment by the WTBT$ as well as thoughtful discussions of policys and doctrines. Along with COC and Barbara Anderson and Hassan, JWN helped us find the info that we were PERSONALLY interested in or was our pet peeve. However, many like me, miss the sense of community we left behind and find JWN a great help to feel a part of a group with common problems and sometimes common interests. The kind support we give those with doubts or problems beats all the blustering as far as effective persuation goes.

Hi sister x, Hubby (BaalamsAss) and I live about two hrs North of you right off I 5. (about 1hr before you get to Hortensia) We have wanted to meet her but it hasn't worked out yet. We have met Mr and Mrs Flipper and skinned sheep. They are AWSOME people who "get it". While I agree that it is important to make new friends who have no connections to Watchtower, it is comforting and validating to share experiences with those who have the perspective of being under the influence of the cult. PM me if you come up our way.

Welcome! You are the answer to the very old JW joke: Who is the shortest man in the Bible? Kneehighmiah. Of course you already know that LOL. I am so glad to see so many waking up to the truth about the Truth-TTATT. It's even better to see MS and elders on the board. I look foreward to hearing more from you.
