The Rants of a Dumbass Elder Still Serving
by TTATTelder inok in the effort of full disclosure, i have had a couple of drinks and recently experienced a circuit assembly and a bad experience with a co.. i don't know where to effing begin.
first of all the circuit assembly was a joke.
half the assembly was about pioneering and selling your soul to be a no-pay salesman for the borg.

Taking care of aging parents
by skeeter1 ini hear that a recent talk was about taking care of one's aging parents.
i agree.
generally, kids should take care of aging parents.

Skeeter, good points. The WTBT$ prints articles giving admonition to take care of aging parents for the simple reason that THEY don't want to do it. Even when they build care homes they charge BIG BUCKS to live there. There is not a charitable bone in their bodies.

A PERSONAL QUESTION to help me finish my NOVEL
by Terry inhere is a personal question:.
is it disturbing to you when an author jumps into the flow of history and radically departs in order to drive an important lesson home to the reader?.
in this novel i have several watch tower leaders meeting incredibly violent deaths at the hands of --well, i won't give anything away.

Terry, If the story is fictional then who cares whether or not the events described therin are historically accurate? Forrest Gump comes to mind. However, I'm not a fan of being taught an "important lesson" Important to whom? The author or me? Who is your intended audience?

The dumest thing an elder ever said to me..
by new hope and happiness inconversation with an elder...i said " did you watch due south yesterday" and he said " ive got far more important things to do".
i mean that comment of his got me to thinking and wondering, and made me see he was missing out on living..and i think that comment was the straw that broke this boys faith, and started my i dont want to be a witness anymore.
kind of wierd how a simple question opened my eyes.. and now as i write this i am watching " the rebel" a 1950s western series, and its great and its even better my 9 year old is watching with me..and there is nothing more important than being happy.. .

Lois, I don't think so because he was very close to his wife, I think he meant that the 3 of us should go out and socialize BUTTTTTT I was looking for some spiritual guidence. I had told this elder that I didn't understand why my husband had been DFed since he had expressed repentance. I was shocked how dismissive he was to my grief. BTW, they NEVER actually made a date to socialize with me. (nor did anyone else for that matter).

I dont think we should past judgement on people who post here for the first time
by smiddy injust saying , my 2 cents worth .
if they have an agenda it will be revealed in a short time , let them play it out .. however , some genuine first posters can be put off by somebody jumping the gun and attacking them .. please give the first posters time to get to know this site.. smiddy.

I agree wholehartedly! I wound up here by Googling Menlo Park Kingdom Hall because a ditsy friend was rambling on about a money grab. When i had the courage to post for the first time I was warmly welcomed. JWN gave hubby and me the info and friendship we were longing for. I am sure we aren't the only ones. If the folks here had acted like our elders well..... we would still be stuck in Watchtowerland.

Lois, LOL!!! Dumbest thing an elder said to me was "Maybe we should go out for Margaritas" when I was crying about my first husband being DFed.
