Wheel, you described the experience so well iI feel like I was there. I plan to use your ideas myself. I'm constantly running into JW's around town. Can you imagine doing the Isreal bend over in the middle of the isle at Costco? Hahahahahahah!!!!

Studying for the meetings vs. going on Facebook
by Coded Logic inmost people on this thread seem to agree that the internet is having a harmful effect on the wtbts ability to gain new recruits and retain jw children.
my question is do you think this has to do with the fact that those who leave are learning ttatt?
or is it that people are just spending more time of fb and instagram and don't really care much about studying and fs all the time?.

Both, it depends on the individual.

Why does the Society no longer use strong language?
by LogCon inwhy does the society no longer use strong language, such as found in the march 1, 1949 wt, to expose false religion?.
"...for years now the united states government has had a succession of roman catholic men as postmaster general and in control of the post-office department, and about such there can be no doubt that they are agents and representatives of the vatican.
but to date has anyone ever heard of this religionist in office issuing an order forbidding the use of the united states mails for carrying on a racket of collecting money from roman catholics upon the representation that it is for the benefit of their dead.

They also fear persecution stemming from harsh language about specific governments and religions. They know they and todays soft JW's don't have what it takes to endure it.

Rutherford's last book "Children" 1941- Advice DONT HAVE KIDS...Where it all started!
by Witness 007 inwatchtower 1941 sept. 15 p.283, 288 "in front of the convention platform the children recieving there free gift (copy) not as a play thing but as the lords instrument for the work in the remaining months before armagedon..." so what lovely message did the kids get from judge rutherford?
children 1941page 281 "no children were taken onto noah's ark...it is proper to wait until after armagedon to have children...its only afew more years till armagedon..." the book concluded.
"(john and his girlfriend talk) ...armagedon is surely near our hope is within afew years our marriage will be consumated and we will have sweet children...we will defer marriage and pioneer ...we will not see each other for a time.." thats why i dont have kids it all started with this fools book!.

My parents married in 1943. Influenced by Rutherfraud they postponed having a child for 9 years in order to pioneer. Mom continued to pioneer until I was 4 years old and I was the only child in our congregation until I was 5 years old. We have my MIL's copy of "Children" with an autograph and message from Joseph F Rutherford.

I don't understand the psyche of JW
by bobld inthe majority have good jobs, drive newer vehicles, have nice homes,go on vacations.all in all they have the smarts.. however, rwhen it comes to their religion, they are dummer than a sack of hammers.they drive around in circles to get two hours of service time.they can't differentiate what the fds/gb say is from jehovah god, when in reality it is the stuff that comes out of a horses ass.what the horse eats(as it were food at the proper time from the gb) comes out of the horse as manure(shit sounds better) as a loving provision from jehovah.. .

LisaRose: "Now that all JW's have access to the internet why are they still choosing to remain ignorant?" For the same reason I chose not to believe my husband was cheating on me. For the same reason people with serious medical symptoms don't see a doctor. They are afraid to know the truth. Knowing the truth requires making unpleasant decisions. Purposely staying ignorant is easier in the short run. In the long run it is postponing the agony.

Would you convert to a religion for love?
by new hope and happiness ini am sure people convery to a religion to find peace and spiritual awakening.
i also bet many convert simply for love.
would you to assist " true love" if it required converting to a particular faith?.
-

No, I would not convert for love. Why? because love is a 2 way street. If he truely loved me he would not insist I do something against my beliefs. I would however be glad to occationally attend his religious services as a moral support the same way I would expect him to attend events I choose.

Its very well explained by Steven Hassen. Have you read any of his books? The explaination is that the WBT$ uses the B.I.T.E. Method. I urge you to investigate what it is and why it is so effective.

frankiespeakin, thanks for those quotes. This is the JW "wisdom" I grew up with and that carries over for the most part today. Mental health issues have such a stigma attached to them that some people get touchy when the subject comes up. That is unfortunate. If someone has a broken bone, they don't call the elders first do they? There is no shame attached to the broken bone. The broken mind? Not so much.
