No kidding! The return address is the PO box for the local KH. The letter was addressed:
Barbara Anderson
Husband's full Name
Current correct Address
The handwriting looked familiar. I opened the envelope and found a letter that read as follows:
Dear Neighbor,
Hello! My name is Rose (name changed)
I would much rather chat with you face to face but just not able to at this time.
I want to encourage you to go online + check out our website -JW.org it has VERY interesting information to read.
Did you know the Bible told us about our current crisis as part of the "Last Day" ?(no s)
Go online and read all about it!
I wish you well and healthy!
Sincerely
Rose
I was once a very good friend of this single sister until.....over 20 years ago I found out that my then- husband had given her at least two $500.00 cash gifts. (At the same time, I found out that he had been serial cheating on me with many other women. She was single because her husband divorced her because She had cheated.) She wrote us thank-you notes for these gifts, which is how I found out about the money and her handwriting. I divorced that SOB.
Meanwhile, I remarry, and a few years ago I hear that Rose was in a terrible car accident, nearly died, and was left with a Traumatic Brain Injury. Several years ago we ran into each other where I was working. She now was a shell of her former self and definitely kookie as can be. Trying to get rid of her, I told her I was no longer a JW. She responded, Then, you are an apostate?!!! "No", I said. "I'm just not a believer anymore". She left PRONTO LOL Then sent me an email saying she wants no contact with me because I'm an apostate. Fine. Let the cong. deal with her!
But why the Barbara Anderson reference? Does she have a clue who she is? Well, the whole thing made me laugh and I thought I would share.

What`s wrong With American Politics ?
by smiddy3 inwhat`s wrong with american politics ?.
96% of american people who got off there arse to vote, chose hillary clinton to be president of the united states of america over donald trump.. and the electoral college overode the will of the majority of the people who bothered to vote , and gave the office of president to donald trump who was the 2nd choice, an also ran , of the will of the people.. it`s a furphy to say that some larger blue/red states can dictate to smaller red/blue states or vice versa to rig the elections ,simply because people can, and do change there preferences in any one state whether it be traditionally red or blue.. both democrats and republicans are both guilty and responsible for the gerrymander that is the electoral college.. there i`ve said it ,.
nobody else seems to be able to say it how it is ,.

DD,
You got it. The lawyers are hoping that by using terms like "personal ministry" and "individuals" rather than "members", they can weasel out of financial accountability when bad things happen.

It's obvious to me that the lawyers want to remove as much liability as possible for the Borg. If nobody is a member how can the borg be sued for what an individual chooses to do (or not do) on his own? This is yet another way to distance themselves from having to pay settlements.

Another example of. Brotherly love you can only find in jehovahs organization
by nowwhat? inso my 88 mil died and was the epitome of a faithful sister.
my wife and her sister are members of the congregation for 40+ years.
to be fair it was short notice but we had the showing and visitation and only about 12 out of 120 of the congregation showed up and only 1 elder!

joe134, That's a shame about your great aunt. Once the elderly Jw's have to be cared for in a nursing home the JW visitors disappear for the most part. I believe part of the reason for this is JWs don't want to be reminded that the panda paradise has not come as they all expected. Seeing their friend old and sick is painful for anyone but for a JW who never has prepared for this eventuality, it's unnerving. It messes with their faith to picture themselves in the same situation one day.

I'm so sorry that the indifference of the congregation added to your families' grief. Unfortunately, this is not uncommon among JWs. The faithful elderly-especially those who haven't been able to attend meetings regularly become "out of sight and out of mind".
My paternal Aunt was not only a faithful sister but she was 2ondgen "annointed" and a career pioneer who helped form the original congregation in her town. She obeyed Rutherfraud's council not to have children during "the time of the end". She played the piano at the kingdom Hall for many years until they went to records. She was elegant, friendly, and well-liked. She lived to be 100 years old!
Hubby and I were expecting standing room only at her memorial as there were at least 4 congregations in her town by that time and many others nearby. We were shocked that on that lovely spring day barely 50 people showed up. Apparently, she outlived everybody who gave a damn.
BTW, this was 2004

You Know You're A Jehovah's Witness When...
by pale.emperor inyou know you're a jehovah's witness when.... being offered a scholarship to a good university is considered a bad thing.. when you see a house you like you claim it for after your god kills the owner.. you recieve spiritual guidence from a bus driver and a window washer.. you're engaged to a person you only met 3 months ago.. your widowed mother is marrying a man she met at the convention who she's known for 2 weeks.. there's jehovah's witnesses meeting in your house on a saturday morning to talk about going out knocking on doors on a saturday morning.. a lie in on a weekend happens about twice a year.. you dont talk to your own parents/children because they have a different opinion about a magazine.. you're not quite sure what you're supposed to believe anymore.. when someone criticizes your a magazine you feel like you're being attacked.. your 3yo son owns a suit.. if you're not married by the age of 30 you're considered to be gay or something wrong with you.. (for girls) if you havent married the first or second person you've dated you're considered promiscuous or something wrong with you.. you get your scientific knowledge from a magazine written by people who've never been to college and have never actually read the source they claim to be citing.. you get excited if there's a storm or natural disaster.. you get excited when there's a terrorist attack.. you get excited when there's a pandemic.. your version of tinder is the lunch break at a convention.. your girlfriend dresses like her grandmother.. your grandparents, despite being in the same religion as you, died believing totally a different belief system..

You know you're a JW if:
You are late for the meeting and they seat you in the front row.
You think reading Awake is the equivalent of a college education.
You spend more time at your coffee break than you did in "the work".

Probably the other way around.
