When I was a little kid we used the Green Paperback "Songs to Jehovah's Praise" songbook. The chorus to one song was "Kiss the Son lest he be angry and you perish in the way."
Since I couldn't read yet, I thought, How can I kiss the SUN?
i was asking why jws won't sing any church hymns even if they were doctrinally correct.
jws asked me in response if i would sing any of their songs.. dan watkins wrote .
its a hilarious misunderstanding, if it does not come from the watchtower bible and tract society, then it is effectively considered as coming from satan.

'following on from an apology from the prime minister, the commission recommends all faith-based leaders offer a public apology, including the pope, the archbishop of canterbury, the president elect of the methodist church, the moderator of the presbyterian church in new zealand and the head of each individual presbyterian support organisation, the general of the salvation army, the overseeing shepherd of gloriavale, and the governing body of jehovah’s witnesses.'.

The reason The GB HAS NEVER and WILL NEVER apologize for previous doctrines and policies, no matter how harmful is :
an apology = a legal admission of GUILT which then = LIABILITY
Legal Liability = AUTOMATIC DAMAGES which = boatloads more $$$$$ paid out to victims by the corporation.
WTC is never going to help victims collect $$$ no matter how egregious their agent's conduct.
i'm interested to know the age demographics here.
it must be significantly different to other exjw forums.
it would be a damning report for watchtower if most of us appear to have left for decades.. you don't have to mention your exact age, you could always say "in my 50s".. i am in my 70s.
Diogenesister: Thank you. That means a lot.

SydBarrett: LOLOL!
Where did you get a picture of our last Apostafest?? Look how happy we are! It's GREAT to be out at any age. :)
co training video: link to ex-jw reddit thread discussion.
today is the first time i was made aware of this actual elder body video.
it's training for how a co should handle elder's whose children decide to pursue further education.
I forgot to mention that the best part of our story is that after B.Ass and I suffered through and made it out of our 1st marriages "in the Truth", We truly appreciate each other's character and good qualities. AND.....
We both left JWs about the same time. We are OUT of the F.O.G. together. Now, if only we were young lol.

WingCommander: "I hope you made that Karen your Ex Wife"
Actually, SHE dumped him! He tried his best to make her happy despite her bitchy personality. One day he came home from work and found their ENTIRE home EMPTY as well as the bank accounts. He was gobsmacked.
He and I met years later when I moved into his cong. and was assigned to his book study. We are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary next week. :)

I was born early in the year Eisenhower was elected president to middle-aged 2ond gen parents. I was Baptized the month I turned 12 and married at 17 to the Pioneer MS son of the PO who secretly lived a double life.
I was aware of serious flaws and flip-flops in doctrine and policies most of my life but told myself it was the result of "Imperfection" the catchall word to excuse all that is rotten in Watchtower.
My son's sudden death in 2004 changed me. By this time I was married to B.ASS who was close to being PIMO. The Menlo Park fiasco caused me to be mad enough to find Simon's site, read, honestly examine my religion. and realize I was NEVER in the TRUTH but in a CULT! Like Dagney, I am grateful to have made some true friends who happen to be EXJWs.
like the org just gives up and comes out saying that all of what they are saying is untrue and that there is no armageddon, nothing.
how do y’all think the the members still in it would react?.
there be a mental health crisis i perhaps.
What if I had realized TTATT when I was still a teenager instead of a senior citizen?
What if I had married Ringo Star instead of my ex-husband?
What if I became the next POTUS?
any fond memories or funny stories relating to the old book study arrangement?.
i remember a time when a new sister turned up with very smart jacket and shirt.
yet she was wearing trousers and when questioned by everyone she said "blimey, i think geoff (her husband) is wearing my skirt!".
In the 1970s I lived in a tiny town in the mountains below Lake Tahoe. The small congregation was newly formed and many had been baptized only 1 to 4 years. Most were young couples either with or without children. It was a fun and funny group.
My best friend had the book study at her house which 1st husband and I attended. The group was enthusiastic about the religion and I admit it was contagious. Most stayed after the book study telling jokes, playing games, or watching TV. sometimes with wine when their kids were in bed.
However, This group of ours changed in the late 1970s Many of these interesting and smart converts left JWs, including my best friend and her family. I tried to encourage her to stay but the decision was final.
I kept in touch with my friend who wisely left and, with her husband, worked hard and built a multi-million-dollar retirement. They are close with their 3 children, their 15 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
She and her family earned their happy Golden Years through wisdom and hard work. We are so glad she didn't listen to me!
