There we go, argument won, 'conspiracy theorists' (presumably that also includes detectives and people working in intelligence agencies) can be dismissed on the basis that there is something wrong with them. Just get an expert, s/he'll tell you! A psychologist should do the trick - why not a psychiatrist, well maybe that might come across as a little mean. And for good measure lump all 'conspiracy theorists' together, no matter that some may actually be clinically insane. You see there's such a thing as 'guilt by association'. Oh, and just throw in some studies of who knows what type of people, and who knows how many, go on about how a certain part of the brain works and why you think it may affect 'conspiracy theorists' more that others, and hey presto case closed!
Verdict: People who question the official version of events do not necessarily need to be concerned about their sanity but rather their apparent feelings of low self worth and uncertainty about their place in the world. In other words, all you 'conspiracy theorists', just get a life will you!

Why we have Conspiracy Theorists......
by cantleave ineveryone knows a conspiracy theorist (let's face it we have a few on this board).
my attention has been to drawn to an article in the new york times, which i have pasted below.
apparently people with propensity to create conspiracy theory narratives are quite sane, even though they may have low self worth and cannot fully ascertain their place in the world.

I couldn't help laughing a the "Easter Bunny" thing! I should warn you that you may well get some posters who won't bother to read the article and the logic, but will summarily dismiss you as a 'crank', 'loon', 'conspiracy theorist' or some other favourite word/phrase of contempt. You see it better to be on the 'winning side' than stick your neck out and ask questions. But thanks for posting the article.

Yes, I dare say there are many who act a bit 'crazy', lash out etc upon realizing the world they once believed was true happens not to be the real deal. Facing cold reality can be quite traumatic after the seeming warmth and security of 'mother':

"The order has attracted some criticism for its connection with the idea of the British Empire. Benjamin Zephaniah, a British Jamaican poet, publicly rejected an OBE in 2003 because, he claimed it reminded him of "thousands of years of brutality"*. He went on to say: "It reminds me of how my foremothers were raped and my forefathers brutalised." - * Mills, Merope (2003-11-27). "Rasta poet publicly rejects his OBE". Who is the "True God of the Bible" ?
by Phizzy ini decided to ask this on the back of "lost"'s thread about yhvh etc.. quite often on here we get bible believers trying to tie the whole mess that is the bible together, and maintaining that it tells us about just one "true" god.. who is this "true" god, and what is the proof that he is true ?.
was he the god of abraham and melchizedech ?.
the god of the ordinary jew before the babylonian exile ?.

Interesting last post tec. So maybe certain parts of the OT are libellous, giving him a bad name?
[Added:] Don't Muslims also think that the OT is not completely accurate?

Hmm, burning books seems to be quite the thing when you don't want people to know the whole story. So sad about what happened at Alexandria. Seems the Church knew best so nobody needed 'education' (sound familiar?). Can't have reason and logic clouding the issue can we?
