It doesn't seem to be the money aspect that is bothering him. I'm betting that he's just tired of it. I wrote him an email just now about taking it over.

Interested in running the Watchtower Observer?
by Kent inafter reading all the comments about the watchtower observer, and knowing the amount of traffic the site is generating, i have come to the decition it would be a shame to let the site itself go down in flames.
so, here is the deal: .
im interested in someone who is willing to run the watchtower observer, and by that im talking about taking over the observer.org domain!

Witnesses.net Rediscovered!!!
by obiefernandez inthe grandaddy of big jw discussion boards like this one is the site that i launched in 1997 after leaving the mining co., witnesses.net (or witnet).
if you weren't into the whole jw online scene before 2001 then you missed it.
when i pulled the plug on the site about a year and a half ago, i did not keep any archives of the site.

Just a note: The links take a long time to return content. Probably cause they have to dig thru petabytes of compressed data on their servers.

When I pulled the plug on the site about a year and a half ago, I did not keep any archives of the site. I knew the only way to completely ensure that I would never again get involved in being a JW webmaster was to let it go completely. When the server was deactivated, about 3 gigs of accumulated discussion board content bit the dust, forever!
Imagine my surprise today when I heard about The Wayback machine at http://www.archive.org Apparently they have spent the last half-decade archiving web content and it is all searchable. Included in there is quite a bit of content from my site. Check it out at the following URLs:
Who knows, maybe I'll have to mine the best messages from the archive and reactivate witnesses.net as an archive?
Love,
ObedPS: Hey if you have any witnesses.net memories please go ahead and post them here. I would love to hear about it.

Hi everyone. This is a chat session from a little while ago with my dear sister who loves me so much. Too bad she thinks I'm going to die soon. And she ain't too shy to tell me either. (Oh and my kids are gonna die too.)
I have to start another topic about the neutrality meeting that my dad had with my siblings. He says that he was following instructions given in the district assembly, because they are expecting the persecution of JWs to start soon. But more on that later. For now... Luis is her husband.
Obie Wan Cubano says:
hey did dad criticize luis for being so pro-argentina
Safari Chic says:
no
Safari Chic says:
what do you mean
Safari Chic says:
?
Safari Chic says:pro argentina?
Obie Wan Cubano says:
i don't know exactly. he was talking about how he had to meet with you about neutrality
Safari Chic says:
oh it had nothing to do with argentina
Obie Wan Cubano says:
it sounded strange
Safari Chic says:
not to us
Obie Wan Cubano says:
so you actually believe that the end of the world is about to happen?
Safari Chic says:
soonObie Wan Cubano says:
you have no doubt. you think that i'm going to die
Obie Wan Cubano says:
like soon??
Safari Chic says:
yes if you don't turn your life around
Safari Chic says:
and your kids too
Safari Chic says:
because they know no better
Safari Chic says:
and are your responsibility
Safari Chic says:
it is very sad
Obie Wan Cubano says:
you are so brainwashed
Obie Wan Cubano says:
that is what is so sad
Safari Chic says:
no i don't think so andObie Wan Cubano says:
i can't believe you believe that crap
Safari Chic says:
i think you are blinded
Safari Chic says:
anyway
Safari Chic says:
i have to go
Obie Wan Cubano says:
i know the feeling. i think you are blinded
Obie Wan Cubano says:
you used to be so cool when you were youngerSafari Chic says:
don't you think that if we have so much faith in this then maybe it IS true?
Obie Wan Cubano says:
not at all. those damn muslims must have a lot of faith in their crazy beliefs. they die for it
Obie Wan Cubano says:
that doesn't make me believe that their religion is true
Safari Chic says:
they are crazy
Obie Wan Cubano says:
they are crazy, but you just told me that me and my kids are going to die soon. how is that any different
Obie Wan Cubano says:
cause god is going to do your dirty work instead of you??
Safari Chic says:
no he is going to clean the earth
Safari Chic says:
and rid it of the people who are not obeying him
Safari Chic says:
and doing bad thingsObie Wan Cubano says:
do you know what a euphemism is ..
Obie Wan Cubano says:
cause "clean the earth" is one
Obie Wan Cubano says:
it actually means mass murder on a scale that has never been witnessed before.
Obie Wan Cubano says:
oh, my bad, maybe since the flood
Safari Chic says:
well he is the only was that can do it
Safari Chic says:
one
Safari Chic says:
i gotta go

Here is my sad but true story!!!
by dissedsis ini was born into a well off family in the wee year of 1979. my father was a water/oil well driller and worked days on end so i rarely ever got to see him.
by the time i was waking up in the mornings he was already at work and when he returned home at night i had already gone to bed, so most of my days where spent without him.
i had sister that was 14 years older than i was and she had severe brain damage and had to be placed in a state home when i was 18 months old, so i do not remember to much about home life with her, other than it was like we had a "big" baby at home with us.

hi sis,
thanks for posting your story. it rings true. I experienced some of the same sorts of things. It especially reminded me of one of my own judicial committees. I was involved with a girl from a neighboring congregation and we got busted so our joint committee meeting had 6 elders in it. They indeed asked all sorts of intimate questions. They wanted to know if we had oral sex and how much, and for how long, did either of us come, etc. I was only 17 at the time. It's 10 years later now but I still remember it clearly.
I have no idea how they continue to get away with it to this day.

Let's keep the momentum going folks! We have 125 people signed up around the world. That's peanuts compared to the amount of people that visit this site on a daily basis. Anyone have any good ideas on spreading the word?

Congratulations!!!!
Take a look at www.meetup.com
We already made it on to their homepage as one of the most popular meetups. This means we might get to meet a lot of ex-jws that don't normally frequent these discussion boards. Thanks everyone!

Are the MEN apostates more imp. than the WOMEN?
by LDH inwell, here are my thoughts on the subject.
we sit here and bash the wbts for having gender separation, but what about us apostates?
do the women apostates carry as much weight as the men, and why do you say so?

Don't forget Mommie Dark. Doesn't post much nowadays (that I know of), but was an VIA* a few years ago.
