Share one or two interesting things about you we probably didn't know
by Gopher inwe have such an interesting group of people from around the world on this board.
it might be interesting to have a thread where you discuss a hobby, something interesting that happened in the past, somewhere you've been, etc.. not deep, dark confessions - just interesting stuff.. .

I have been here since 01. Granted I just came back a couple of weeks ago after a lenghty absence. I have changed and my life has changed by leaps and bounds.I am no longer that person I was back then regarding the witnesses. Man so much has changed in 6 or 7 years eh?

There is no 'right' for British women to have pain relief when in labour!
by Gill inmy neighbours daughter recently gave birth in a large uk teaching hospital to her second child.. the baby was a very large 10 lb boy and the labour went horrendously, during which grandma and the mother's partner had to argue with medical staff for help and pain relief.. they were told that women in labour have no 'right' to pain relief in the united kingdom and despite the fact that this young woman was screaming in total despair for nearly fifteen hours before four doctors turned up to help her and give her an epidural anaesthetic., she had no help but gas and air which didn't help her at all.
the hospital was crowded with young polish women also giving birth and the staff midwives told the girl's mother that they had to concentrate on these polish young women as they did not speak english and many of their babies were at risk because they were so small.. this young woman did not even have a private room to herself but was in a crowded ward!.
the young neighbour's baby twice went into distress with his heart rate dropping desperately low.

My wife had 2 kids. I did not see where it was all that bad. I did not feel much pain at all.

If ye are using the greatest browser ever created, FIREFOX, then nothing works right. I have even tried using the IE tab extension in FIREFOX but I cant hang with all the annoying ass flash and google ads and all the fluff. (no offence to Simon on the design of the site meant at all). I have been spoiled with no ads and flash anymore anywhere in my WWW surfing expeditions.

How many of you Ex Jehovah's Witnesses married early and it was a disaster?
by isnrblog inwhat a common tale.
you marry early becasue you can't have sex.. i was married at 19 and divorced at 50. the only thing that held it together was our involvement in the jw's.
otherwise it would have been over in less than 5 years.. my kids are not witnesses and have a terrible relationship with their mother, as she is always trying to shove it down their throats.. this is still happening.

Yup. That is the sad tale of my first marriage also. We were both 19. She was not even a witness when I met her. Me being the 'super-dub' I was, realize that things would be a lot easier if I convert her. So thats what happens. Only , we had sex before we were married. To her it was no big thing because she was not yet a witness and she was 'worldly'. But me ,filled with all sorts of horror stories from the cult indoctrination, panicked and married her. At the time we were going out maybe 5 months or so. But I needed to cover the fact we were sleeping with each other so I panicked and got married. Did I love her? HELL NO! But I was scared and vulnerable. Well long story short, she turned out to be a certifiable psychotic woman from the depths of hell itself. She left me (read started running from the law). The very next day I get a call from the local detectives. Then the following weeks I was called on by everyone from the FBI to the US marshals and even the damn postal inspectors. Without getting into detail, she eventually ended up in a maximum security womans prison. She, get this, PLEA BARGAINED, for 25 years. Last word, she was still studying with the witnesses.

BREAK TIME!
by sacolton inis it just me or did breaks seem unusally long - well, at least in the groups i worked in.. we'd do 45 minutes of door-knocking (lots of "not at homes") and take an hour break ... sometimes longer!
lol!.
other times we'd just drive around trying to find the street we are supposed to work.

Went to a JW "funeral" on Saturday
by Dorktacular inmy brother called me late on the 13th to let me know that a friend of ours - who is no longer a jw - called him and said that his dad was being flown by helicopter to the hospital because he collapsed at home and had no pulse.
they took my friend's dad off life support on valentine's day and he died.
well, i was debating whether or not to go to the funeral because i have no desire to hang around a bunch of jws or set foot in a kindumb hall again.

Experiences like that make me sick to my stomach. The audacity and the utter disregard for life the witnesses have is appalling. I am sorry for your friends loss. You also deserve kudos for doing the stand up thing and waiting by your friends side, but then again, you don't need me to tell you that.
