Intro

hi, although i signed up two years ago, and filled out the "interview with an apostate" as hillfy54321, i have since only read various posts.

then purchased a new computer and lost my password, thus no new posts.

i have since reapplied, and now go under the handle of hillfy 333.. a little about myself.

Same here, when I first learned ttatt I tried to share it with my wife, she pushed back hard, so now I share small increments at a time. I'm more skeptical by nature my wife more loyal.

We have been contacted many times by elders and people from the Hall, we live pretty close to the KH and they drop in to say hi when out in service. At first it was ok, but now it's irritating, we just don't answer the door which is irritating in itself.

i was just reading through some posts and had a startling realization.. the comment that sparked this went something like this: why oh why when i started into this in 1989 did i not research the history of the wtbts?

etc....... i too was studying and moving towards baptism around that same time.

i got dunked in dec of 1990.. my thought.

Hello Everybody

i didn't see an introduction forum anywhere but i thought it would be weird to start posting without first introducing myself so, here we are.

i'm 15, and i've been looking for a place to discuss my thoughts on the religion that i'm pretty much stuck in at the moment.

my mom and dad divorced over their different beliefs over a year ago (my mom is jw and my dad is an very knowledgeable apostate, so you can see how they would fight over it), and since then i've stopped believing altogether.. just thought i'd say hello.

What's the purpose of being a JW now?

with all the recent changes to this religion, what really is the purpose of being a jw?

especially for those who have been in and witnessed all the changes and still no sight of the end.

for these ones in particular (35-55 year olds) they must be in a state of confusion.

Its like gambling, many have gone all in.

The older one's have invested all their lives, their resources, they have brought up there kids in this belief system and grandchildren, they have alienated family due to Jw mandates and dogma and have rejected association with them and in so many words have said they will 'perish in Armageddon', Said to them "you are living a lie, you are in a false religion."

Imagine for a second the implication for them to entertain the idea, that they might be wrong?

Everything they hold true and dear is in the "truth" if its wrong they would become very ill and depressed, I dare to say they would just want to die.

The younger one's under 40 still have a chance and many are waking up. I know many that are on the edge. They attend and some have privileges but they really don't believe it all, they are the one questioning stuff quietly and with friends, I have been part of some, of these discussion but always hold my tongue, because if you get me started I wont know when to stop.Then you a the zealots their the torch carriers they will take this religion to the next generation, they will restructure this religion and it will become unrecognizable.

Should I stay or should I go?

hello all, i love reading all of your experiences, and trials and tribulations ( isn't that very jw'ish)?

while most of my life experiences have almost nothing to do with jw's, as i was never baptized and never believed( in the bible) past the 5th grade, it makes me feel good to contribute a post or two here, i tend to go off on subjects that are probably not very jermaine to the main subject of this site.

i do really enjoy all of your comments and the time and effort simon and the other moderators spend to make this a truly inspiring site.

Well put. This was my strategy as well, had to start from nothing. Every preconceived idea that was taught to me as a child, that I believe to be true had to be reexamined.

So , how "worldly" did you get?

i even hate to use that word worldly tm.. any way i'm probably the worst.. 1 when the jw s come to my door i say i'm not interested .

2 i have gone to many churches and volunteered.. 3 i shredded all my jw books and magazines out in the woods.. 4 had the mormon elders over and studied with them.. 5 tried pot (its legal here).

6 open carry my fire arm every where (legal here also).

I support the military

I believe in education very important.

I decide what I believe and live my life to my standards ( you don't have to be religious, to be a good person)

I support my wife's Yoga Classes, actually I might go next time with her.

I will give blood and accept blood, no problem. ( got rid of the blood card along time ago)

I have served on a jury duty.

I toast (always did)

I gamble ( had a blast in Vegas last time we went)

I speak to DF people just not at the KH

I curse, not as much as I would like to (working on this)

Watch and listen to what ever kind of movie or music, I dig.

I don't view it as worldly, just normal. I'm definitely a different person I was 3 years ago.

i might superstitiously have some kind of doubt but digging a bit deeper in my heart i really don't believe in god.

as a human i could never just sit and watch people be tortured, live years of abuse, suffer from illness and disabilities and all the other awful things people have to endure day after day without doing something about it.

I was addressing only the issue of why God does not prevent evil, not on proof of God's existance.

The argument has no merit, if you can't convince me there is a God.
