THE LINGERING SHADOW OF '75
by Terry innone of you are old enough to have been there, i suspect.
i had been in prison two years as a jw conscientious objector when the exciting news about 1975 spread like wildfire.i was paroled from prison in 1969 and immediately began pioneering.
the pressures began mounting throughout the organization.

Hi Terry
Sorry about all the awful pain this ridiculous cult has weighed on you. It's good to have boots on the ground perspective of what really happen in 75, the society blames the R&F as those that ran ahead of the org. Interesting enough my mother was baptized in 1973, we had a conversation about this once and she said 'she was told, she had to get baptized in order to survive the end' which was just around the corner, now that I display a more questioning attitude she denies she ever said it.
How this organization has any adherents is beyond me. When Harold Camping came out as a complete scam artist and false prophet, I remember all the JW saying "how can anyone with a functioning brain fall for such nonsense, some still have faith in this man, people can be so easily deceived". That's when things started popping in my brain, I remember wondering could we be in the same delusion?
I let it go,I guess I wasn't ready to except reality yet.

Ten years out.....
by snare&racket ini'm not sure how useful this post will be, but i feel compelled to write it.
with many of my older posts, i wrote them with a younger jw version of me in mind.
with this i write it with a younger newly ex jw in mind.. ten years ago i went to my presiding overseer and told him my concerns about wt owning 'rand cam' military stocks, about unfulfilled prophecy and human error in the governing body and the theocratic consequences of such.

Wow I remember reading some of your post's when I was first lurking.
Good to hear from you again, there's an army of new ones here. Please check in again, revenge is living a fantastic life without the bOrg and you my friend are a testament to that.

What TV shows were forbidden in your JW household?
by Funchback inin the u.s., three's company was not allowed.
it was explained to me that it was an immoral show because a man and women lived together and no one was married.
the sister who gave this observation was a family friend and we were newbies to the religion.. at least i somehow managed to watch the benny hill show undetected..

'I dream of Jeannie' was considered witchcraft, 'The monsters' was off limits as well, demonz you know. They would vilify anything just to keep you under there thumb. -

Miracle Wheat: Was Russell really guilt-free regarding it? Did Rutherford have more to do with it than Russell?
by ILoveTTATT2 injim penton, in his book apocalypse delayed, barely touches on the miracle wheat episode.
in a 300+ page book, this is what he says about it:"he was charged with financial chicanery, particularly in what came to be known as the miracle wheat episode.
... both the miracle wheat and ross cases deserve some comment.

It's interesting for sure, I'm certain snake oil has properties you could spin in a positive fashion to fit an agenda as well.
Russell saw an opportunity to make money and as a business man tried to capitalize on this venture, once he felt the repercussions of his folly he tried to distance himself from it and lay the blame on others. I believe they still have the same policy in place.

Welcome Hillfly
Same here, when I first learned ttatt I tried to share it with my wife, she pushed back hard, so now I share small increments at a time. I'm more skeptical by nature my wife more loyal.
We have been contacted many times by elders and people from the Hall, we live pretty close to the KH and they drop in to say hi when out in service. At first it was ok, but now it's irritating, we just don't answer the door which is irritating in itself.
Thanks for taking the time to share your story

The Watchtower Org will die.
by Freeandclear ini was just reading through some posts and had a startling realization.. the comment that sparked this went something like this: why oh why when i started into this in 1989 did i not research the history of the wtbts?
etc....... i too was studying and moving towards baptism around that same time.
i got dunked in dec of 1990.. my thought.

Hello Everybody
by Thomas the Bill Engine ini didn't see an introduction forum anywhere but i thought it would be weird to start posting without first introducing myself so, here we are.
i'm 15, and i've been looking for a place to discuss my thoughts on the religion that i'm pretty much stuck in at the moment.
my mom and dad divorced over their different beliefs over a year ago (my mom is jw and my dad is an very knowledgeable apostate, so you can see how they would fight over it), and since then i've stopped believing altogether.. just thought i'd say hello.
