And then I would leave them the magazines.

The smug arrogance of "having the truth".
by stuckinarut2 inhas anyone noticed that witnesses (from the top down) seem to have a quiet form of smug arrogance toward all non witnesses?.
perhaps it comes from being told how "special and unique" they are but they end up looking down on all normal members of the community because they are not witnesses.. so any form of "love" they show those in the territory is also limited as long as they accept the message...otherwise they are viewed contemptuously as "worldly" and therefore of little value...after all, they will be destroyed right?.

Be careful what you wish for (in case you want to wake up your spouse)
by nevaagain ini want to spare you a long post about my background.
because this topic is about something else.a small information is that i knew ttatt before i got married.
but then i somehow pushed it back for quite some time because i didnt want to change my life and it was convenient to instantly meet new people when you move into a new city.couple of years into my marriage and seeing all the changes in the jw my thirst for ttatt resurfaced.

Sorry nevaagain
Sound like her true authentic personality surfaced to the top. Once you realize no one is watching you, their are choices to make. Who really am I? What do I stand for? and what is my passion and purpose in life? She is merely being her true self, move on...... she clearly isn't the person you taught she was. Didn't hear anything about kids consider your self lucky.

Beyond the Kingdom Hall.
by The Rebel inthe religoios lessons themselfs are not missed, they were actually quite dull, and i realize i learnt nothing of value from them.
instead a quite evening at home playing with my boy is more endearing.. yes my life has moved on, i occassionaly see members of my former congregation in shopping centers, or they are putting the kids in to the back of the car and inside i believe most of them have bottled it, they prefer the comfort to the " truth" who am i to expose the can of worms.. many of course can blame parents or grandparents for having grown up as outcasts in school and i hope if they do leave like me they hold no resentment.
indoctrination is a terrible thing, and even false prophecy, royal commissions, and proof that many of the elders in the congregation are complete and utter shits won't change them.

It was on our local news last night, turned to my wife and said " Do you think if I was hooked on drugs and died of a over dosed they would be so accommodating or is it because the world is watching?, Sure seams they are bending over backwards for a man who displayed a worldly and immoral lifestyle." Just saying..... Q' the eye roll. -

It has been a journey, a lonely journey since I put all my eggs in one basket. It has been a period of discovery; everything seems new, everything had been tainted and skewed in a unfavorable light. Its really like getting a second chance at life without the blinders. Even though the bOrg has caused so much damage, I try to stay positive for my kids sake who are watching me and for my own peace of mind. This next phase of my life I would like to volunteer some in a meaningful way.
I loved this image, nailed it.

Today's Text - Brainwash Your Children!
by Divergent inwith the increasing number of young ones leaving "the truth", it is critical to brainwash them regularly from young!.
monday, may 16. the one who has dealings with the stupid will fare badly.—prov.
13:20.. a child could drift away gradually on a spiritually dangerous path, being tempted by harmful association or degrading entertainment.

What is the "Social Currency" for witnesses?
by stuckinarut2 inwhile flying recently for work, i overheard a conversation about the "social currency" that people in the community or workplace have.. for example, a manager or boss yields more power (obviously) over those below him or her.. but one person observed that other factors have value.
for example a parent may have more value in some circles, while being childless may help in others.. looks or how someone carries themselves may also give value.. so it made me think, what is the social currency amongst witnesses?
what gives them power, status, validation or value?.

Challenging JWs at Cult Carts
by cofty inif i have time i always talk to jws when i see a cult cart.. they are in a public forum promoting a harmful ideology therefore they are fair game.
having said that, the individual jws on the trolley are not the enemy so i think it's better to keep it as friendly and non-confrontational as possible.. being realistic no jw is going to admit they are wrong because of something we say to them on the street but don't underestimate the long-term effect of doubts.. so what are your ideas for how to approach them?.
personally i like to use the literature on the cart.

Agreed if they're prepared to go door to door and set up stalls to dispense their teachings, then they need to be prepared to defend it. Nobody should be allowed to spew out lies that affect millions of peoples lives, innocent children who have no say and not be challenged.
I think pointing out the organization history is powerful, this lead me here and the rest was history. If done in a respectful way, it will leave a empty feeling "doubt" that needs to be looked into. Eventually when they realize the bOrg doesn't touch on the subject and if there honestly seeking answers they will go online. If they're content in letting someone else think for them, well they're home. The preaching work nowadays is nothing like it was in previous years where discussion and debate was welcomed, preparation was necessary. Now you just see them sitting next to a cart and making no attempt to reach out to people they are just counting time.
