i find it interesting the new found love the wt appears to have for the un.

in the two latest articles, july 22, awake and august 1, wt, they make reference to the good policies of the un and it's universal declaration of human rights.

as my memory serves, the harlot represents babylon the great (aka, false religion, aka, all religion except jw's) that commits fornication with the wild beast (aka, un representing all kingdoms of the earth) does this bring on a "new light" adjustment in wt doctrine?

how many of you ex-jws can recall a particular instance during your life as a jw when you or someone you know had a mini crisis of conscience over what you now, upon reflection, consider to be the most trivial or petty in nature?.

i've got a good one for you.

i remember my mom and one of my aunts engaged in a very serious debate about whether they should feed a freshly caught mouse to the cat because it hadn't been properly bled!!!.

I can remember all the small crisis of conscience matters. Try an arguement with a ms because he was inviting me and my sister, with parental consent, to go see "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" with his wife.
Or the crisis of conscience I had when another sister was wearing a miniskirt in school...Oh yes, I had to run and tattletale to my mother. My mother called up her's and said that it was inappropriate clothing. (what my mother was corrected upon by that sister was that her daughter had her menstral cycle and had an accident, forcing her to wear a skirt that an associate had available).. I felt like a putz.
Or the multiple times that I cheated on my time sheets.. or the multiple times that I failed to study for the meetings...
Silly guilt.

i was just thinking about this.

having been raised "in the truth" post-1975, i didn't grow up with any specific year in mind.

yes, there was the notion of "this generation will by no means pass away," but by the time i was old enough to think about that concept, the people who were born in 1914 (to stretch it out as far as possible, as the society ultimately did) were still only in their 60's.

Ahh.. the memories...
I remember when I was about 15 or so, laying down on my livingroom floor. I was drawing a map of Paul's travels for one of the elders so he could use it in his talk. As I was trying to figure out where Macedonia was to be placed, I heard Pres. Bush announce that they would be invading the east (Desert Storm/Desert Shield, can't remember exactly which one.) The reason why I can't remember was because my hand started shaking. Yes, I was terrified that was the beginning of the end. I believed I would die at Armaggeddon. The HORROR! THE HORROR!! THE PAIN!! THE PAIN!!
Who was I to think that about 10 years later, I would still be here, the world would still be here, and the "generation" of 1914 is mostly dead.

Sorry if I am opening old wounds here -- but what exactly caused the split? I was just getting into the old h20 before the server was starting to have real difficulties. And then it was like a bomb went off. Some posters went here, some others started posting in other posting boards. What on God's green earth happened?

as some of you know, cole wrote this book under the pretence that he was only interested in writing about the jws, and didn't identify himself as a jw.

The last time I have posted here was when h20 was in existance. So I know that Fred's on a mission from the WBTS. I can picture Fred Hall-- A skinny, pasty white geek with those big black bold glasses...Pants that would not get wet in Noah's flood, because they are so high..and then..he sees it.. a post that is "slandering" the governing body... Hurridly he pounds on the keyboard trying to get his printer to print off the post. Sweating, he wipes the sweat from his brow, knowing that he has to bring this before the "board". He yanks the paper from the printer, causing the last line to run from the fresh ink. Then crinkling it nervously, runs until out of breath to the "board room". There, an old stoic figure looks at the bundle of nerves that busted in the room. The one that he fondly calls, "pee-on". Fred quickly bows before the man holding the paper above his head, and says in a crackling voice-- "Here my master! The latest news off the Discussion Board. How DARE these heathens speaketh of you in this way, OH GREAT AND MIGHTY ONE!!"

Whatever Fred--

I never knew that those just interested in JW's would have that 'heavenly hope'. I wonder if you will mention that to the WBTS writing committee next time they are tapping their pens and thinking of some "NEW LIGHT"?
Or have they changed that since I left?

Funny story about VeniceIT

by popular demand, i am yielding to pressure, to tell a story about our very own veniceit.. in march, venice and her parents were visiting us here in washington state, and we all had dinner at our daughter's home one evening.

(my daughter posts here as princess) princess's son, 4 years old, was quite taken with venice and was showing her around the house.

he was going up the stairs ahead of her, and turned around, face first at her rather, ummm, er, ample?

I think my whole issue with the JW's is summed up in the following opininon:
The JW's hold other religious organizations to their own set of standards. Yet, the witnesses can't live up to their "standards" either.
For example, they claim that when the Catholic priests, (their favorite target), say "it's a mystery of God", it just shows their lack of knowledge and spirit direction from God. Yet, when they can't answer a question, or know something is not right scriptually, they say, "wait on Jehovah".

This is hypocracy to it's finest.
