I get it now, thanks Robert, I know there is a deep confusion and lack of direction. The love that is suppose to be the trademark of this religion, is not there. People barely know each other, the elders and servants try to entertain each other, get to know their peers and helpers. Pioneer dinners (Love Feast?) and lunches are a thing of the past. The worst hatred I have seen is in the JW society and friends implode all the time. There is nothing that is binding these men and women together, if they dump field ministry, game over! JWs need to integrate some of the Mormon concepts of community if they are to survive this century.

Unconditional love?
by Snoozy inwhatever happened to "unconditional love"?.
why is it today so many are willing to shun a friend or relative because they are just too much trouble or they do something that irritates them.... they claim that the other person is "not healty for them" or "harmful to their mental health" be it a relative or a goof friend.
too ready to write them off so to speak.. what happened to the kind of unconditional love that loves in good and bad times..... i don't get it... i guess "unconditional love" doesn't exist anymore.

What really ended the book study in private homes?
by Alfred init's been over 3 years since the book study in private homes was discontinued and some jws are still scratching their heads over it.
although a letter was read to all congregations explaining that "book study night" would now be "family worship night", there was still much speculation among jws as to the real reason behind this decision (the great tribulation was about to start, jehovah was simplifying the lives of jws, to lessen the burden of poor jws who had no money for gas, etc.)...
but as we all know, decisions like these from the gb invariably have some ulterior motive behind it... and discussion boards such as this one usually finds a way to dig up the truth for all to see... but after reading several threads on this subject, i'm really not sure we've uncovered all the facts yet.... so i have to ask... what do you believe really ended the book study in private homes?

To those who say "The Book Study was a place to get to know each other, share in ideas, not be timed thirty seconds per comment." With the new arrangement the Book Study conductor has got your back! He knows if you missed one meeting and will call to check in on you! He is aware of your concerns, pains and personal struggles with life. The free night is a blessing, elders are out in full swing on Shepherd The Flock Night! The free night has allowed the pioneers to check in, cook for the elderly and infirm and bless the orphans. The father-less sons and daughters are ebuliant, they are not neglected, and oh the elders and servants, elderettes, minnie servant wives, they are Big brothers and Big Sisters to the youth! The ending of the Home Book Study was designed to draw the congregation closer and closer! Don't you feel close to all your brothers and sisters in your Hall? Next stop, let's have Kingdom Halls with Five Hundred publishers, this will make our family look large and more nurturing! Did Bethel dump the morning text reading and Bible discussion, in lieu of getting the brothers to work earlier? Meetings with brother Fleming where the highlight of the week, a wonderful gem of a scholar, I loved Book Study!

Can you help me understand this concept, I have problems having "unconditional love." for people that have screwed me over. Jesus did not have this love for the Religious leaders of his day who were outright wicked! Please explain, am I missing something, what kind of love are you talking about?

Confused...
by raxxxx in.
hiya and... i do not really know where to begin... currently a jw... slightly starting to fade... got a girlfriend baptised... i am baptised also... my head is a mess... i do not know what to believe anymore... never really fully trusted elders as it comes to 'leading the flock'... got burned a few times with their ... decisions etc.
read a few articles in here about their alleged false beliefs... do not really know what to do... wondered if any of you felt like that at any point... when something that you trusted and followed most of your life... does not seem to be what you thought it was... .

Listen to "LeavingWT!" he speaks with wisdom and experience, so listen to what he has to say. "Swift to hear, slow to speak."

My friend belongs to them now
by fade_away ina friend of mine was born in to this damn religion and managed to avoid getting baptised for 24 years, unlike me who fell for the cruel scam when i was about 15. he is my best and pretty much only friend i have.
i used to pressure him into baptism just a bit when i was a mindless drone, but he always told me he doesn't feel ready and doesn't feel a strong enough love for jehovah to take that step.
all his friends and family were getting baptised during their teenage years but somehow, he managed to avoid the peer pressure and continued to stay neutral.

I will agree with Teary on this post, your friend had more wisdom than you did. He waited and waited and did not capitulate to peer pressure and now that he has decided, you are upset? Are you afraid you are going to lose your one and only friend? There are other friendships in the world to be made, don't worry about it. As for him, he is twenty four years old, has been searching for God and if he thinks he has found him, let him enjoy! Twenty four is old for a JW who has been living in this culture their whole life. I wish your friend the best luck and a happy marriage, and maybe you should too!

Good Morning to all you aninals!
"Disgruntled" is used to describle the "Ex-Memebers." "Sulky, hateful, angry, extreme bitter."
I do belive there are a few who fit into this category of the word and rigthfully so. The sister who was sexually molested while her predator was adulated by the WTS and given much glory, because "Jehovah had not revealed his secret sin." This only took fifty years to uncover, and she is now labled "Weak" and He is the "victim." by his true followers, those that are too stupid to open their eyes. When the WTS found out about the heinous sin, what do you think they did? They did nothing, nothing to this evil and wicked, hateful man! No disfellowshiping or public reproof was provided for the Halls. Just a "Predator Letter." was sent to the Halls about him. He had a "Get Out Of Jail Free." card. I know the fine details of this unfortunate case, my friend was on the judicial body, was mad as Hell at the guidance he received from New York. Ask the question, why are so many 'weak' ones showing up at this site? The relentless pounding in their brains "You not doing enough, get out in field circus!" my favorite "Listen to the elders, those who are watching over your lives." If the elders gave a damm, they would have prevented many from coming to this site, therefore fulfilling their obligation to the sheep. Elders are not Shepherds of the flock, they have their own agendas, their own screwed up families, and screwed up situations to deal with. Sheperds of Jesus time, were removed for losing sheep, can you say the same out this Organization? How many sheep have been lost to incompetence and mis-management of the flock? Look around you here? Ask many of those "Disgruntled" human being and those weak ones in your Halls. Do you know how many JWs are on the public dole, how many have some type of mental illnessm are taking SSRIs, Benzo's, "Pain Pills." the number is quite large. The reason is the only ones who are listening to the message and coming in are insane, mentally ill, or socially ackward (the brotherhood soons will show them, they are still alone, and they will leave.)

Is There A Nice Way To Say, 'It's Dying?'?
by metatron ini got into one of those extended conversations with relatives i haven't spoken to in ages.
it was full of things unsaid and careful avoidance of saying too much about the organization.
lots of nice social hypocrisy, so nobody gets upset in the fairy-tale world of watchtower-ism.. is there any discreet, tactful, inoffensive way to tell them, "the organization is dying"?

Sayswho" You are a kind person, some type of belief is needed in a situation she was going through. You showed yourself to take the high moral route, I don't see any benefit creating doubts, with someone who is going to experience a tragic loss. You deserve many points on the "humanity scale". Thank you for helping me see, there is still kindess out there in cyberland!

The Mormon religion use to ask to see your Federal Tax Forms to make sure you were paying your ten percent. Mormon doctrine is clear, if you are not paying your ten percent, you won't be in the top level heaven and receive your planet (Universe, now with the Multi-verse theory.). The JWs never taught you could acheive the same status as Jehovah, the Mormons do. The Mormon religion is a topic, I have studied for years, my sister is a mormon who pays her ten percent, has been to their Mecca (The Temple in Salt Lake.) while performing the ceremony that is creepy. The Mormons I have met are very kind, promised me I would be their servant when they die and call me out of Hades. Mormons do carry just as much guilt as we learned to carry, they are a works driven religion as well. Bumper Sticker I saw today "Screw Guilt!!" I like it.

Blondie can you comment on the NLT of Acts 17:11
"
Acts 17:11
New Living Translation (NLT)
11 And the people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul’s message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth.

Are you sure leaving the JW religion has made your life better?. Lurkers think twice
by mankkeli inon this forum, i have carefully read most of the experiences of those who left the jw religion, i have even read experiences that have dated back to 2001, i have read the different circumstances surrounding their exits and what ensued upon leaving.
for the majority, i observed they are better remainning in the religion than leaving.
what benefit is there to strain family relationship because you want to be free?, please tell me, of what value is that freedom?,.

This is the fork in the road I have recently come to in my life. How can I go out and tell the World about the love that exist in the Organization, when my worldly family cannot grasp the hatred that exist among JW families I am close to?? JW families that are in good standing, that people look up to, but are filled with hatred? Families that abandon their parents for ten years, while the local elders (Impotent with no spirtual testatarone.) do nothing but fear this JW Soprano family? Should I go out and preach with men who stay at home, while their wives work, so they can preach? Should I seek out news ones to fill them up with guilt, a guilt that "You can always do more than you are doing! If you think you are doing alot, you probably can do more!" I am having issues of welcoming new ones to my nightmare! What about the men and women in the Halls who suffer from depression, after field service come home and drink a twelve pack a beer, and a 1/5th of vodka? Families who filed bankruptcy, who ripped off creditors of a million dollars from living like the "Rich and Famous" on janitor salaries and pioneer (stop working so creditors can't demand anything, judges look at their income, if they are on Welfare and Pioneer, You can't touch them.) What's so attractive of a group of men and woman who are confused in the times we live in. There are brothers and sisters who are lost, feel lost with unmet expectations, who have given up their lives. There are elder brothers and sisters who get lost in 'Rest Homes' where nobody goes and visits them. I know Jehovah does not forget those who love him and lived their life in a way that blesses his name. As for the Modern Worldwide JW Family, how many of you do they remember? The Kingdom Halls are a group of socially awkward men and women who don't know how to act. The stories aboud, how people walk into a Kingdom Hall and nobody comes up and warmly greets a new one. This is not just me, others notice the Wall Weeds that won't detach themselves from their comfort zone to do a 'meet and greet' with new ones. I hope Fred 7777 does not read this post, I don't want to stumble anyone and that is why I must find myself and try to see with my own eyes what the Bible says. I am feeling lost and need to find myself and the elders (I don't blame them all, because it's my responsibility.) have helped me by showing no interest or concern. It makes it that much easier, because the true followers of Jehovah and Jesus are Sheperds who snatch sheep from perils of this world.
