Jws and urban myths!
by Julia Orwell injws sure love urban myths.
the jws have their own collection built up over many years, part of their own unique worldwide jw culture.
i've come across the same ones in america that i've heard in australia, and they pass from legend to myth and finally reality as quoted from the platform.

Another way to put it was 'I was just a gleam in daddy's eye'.
I think you might know what I meant and are being really dry(?)... if so, wow, LousExtraDry.. you should sell that.

Another Pet Peeve About District Conventions
by EmptyInside inwell,i haven't been to a convention since i started posting here.
but, since my family is attending one soon,i was having flashbacks.. one of the many things that would irritate me would be running into old, so-called friends.
these are ones that while in the same congregation we were close, but then, once they moved,nothing.. and it's usually them just still living five minutes away, but since they go to another hall and can't be bothered now.

Another Newbie
by Skinnedsheep ini recently came to the realization that the organization is corrupt and is false.

i was raised in the religion, pioneered and served as an elder for a number of years.

Welcome!
How my wife and I were treated trying to understand how her molester could become an MS again... well that's what got the snowball moving for us. It was so painful...yet the idea of being in that organization for years longer if it hadn't happened makes me cringe.

Sorry, never been there. Also, spent all my time in the 60's in Bagdad.

I think it's a bit worse with the dubs because they keep you so busy, you don't have time or energy to maintain friendships, especially if they aren't in your congregation
This is exactly what I was thinking while reading through your post. No time to do much socializing. If they don't see you incidentally at the same time and place they're wasting their lives at... well...

Do you think Jesus WANTED to be turned into a religion?
by humbled instuff that has happened to me and people of other religions that i've met and read about--it makes me wonder if the caretakers of "holy writings" haven't bent us with their theology and pedantry.. i don't think jesus wanted us to make a religion.. he offered an experience of faith that was first and foremost an invitation.
the gospels--even if half diluted with error can't dispel the experiences we feel if we accept these words at face value: john 7:17-18.. i can't stay on- going to doctors today.. thanks.
maeve.

Yup, he was an attention seeker of the highest order. Probably existed. Maybe spiritual. Huge ego.

Ok, I'll start with the real common ones...
Garage sales. Second hand demonic items bought by accident. After this happens all kinds of strange things get misplaced, etc... until the offending item is removed and everybody masturbates in relief.
