Thanks for the laughs! Man, this is enough to almost make me glad for a split second that I was a JW. Almost.

LOL!
Nice! Love when children do the swearing for the adults!
I remember sitting at the front row of the KH for the public talk when I was about 17. My little sister - was 2 yrs old and dropped her song book or bible or something. So in a big cute little girl voice.... "...*big sigh*.... AWWW.... FFFUUUCCCKKK!!!"
The speaker stopped... looked down at my family... collected his thoughts and continued. My mom looked over at me from 3 or 4 seats away to my right... omg... if looks could kill... I'd be so dead! Like, serious rage!
I love that memory!

David Splane in Calgary Alberta July 1st for special talk
by hoser ini heard from a reliable source that governing body member david splane will be giving a talk in calgary where all the flooding was last week.

Might be at Jubilee Auditorium(?).
I doubt that it will be 'right where the flooding was'... that would put it at the Bowness Kingdom Hall. Even by JW standards that one is small and depressing.

At the original thought: Yeah, you've changed. You're not out there with them... that's scary sh!t man.
As for the TV being missed... my wife still whines (born in)... at missing Saturday morning cartoons. Kids nowadays have it all... catch up tv / tv online / internet connection that will help them wake up before they retire. I was born too early.

Casual sexism in Watchtower literature
by slimboyfat ini notice the sexist language of the watchtower a lot more these days.
is it on the increase or am i simply more tuned into to noticing it now?
for example this statement in the june kingdom ministry:.

@ LisaRose: So true. Watching some brothers organize for some sisters certainly was an embarrassment for this brother. My wife also experienced the same disconnect between work and the witness world. Even as a believer I felt her frustration that at the KH she was just a woman.
@Julia: I'm a but uncomfortable with images of hairy eyeballs on your tackle.... but again... you've made me smirk ... so all is forgiven.
It really is complete crap the way woman are viewed in the organization. The height of it is not being able to even look at us directly when giving a talk (instead having to do a mini-play with another sister.... completely ubsurd!). Or ... wear a tea-towel over the head... seriously!!??... are we?... uugghh!
And we still suffer, it's been years and my wife still has to be careful not to overreact to anything that looks like this kind of chauvenism.
Up yours WTBS! Up yours.

During Your IN Years If You Had Anointed At Your Hall, What Were They Like?
by LoisLane looking for Superman inthe scoop of humanity at one khall, the anointed ones" were a mixed group.. one bro, h. had been in for eons.
he was df for adultery, back in the day when they would announce your sin openly from the platform to everyone.
he just kept on coming and partaking until he was reinstated.

I remember a group of us in service talking about how we didn't like anybody that we'd ever known that claimed to be annointed (these were very close friends). We were all uncomfortable with that realization and didn't really know what to think of it.
Looking back it's easy to say that should have been an 'aha!' moment... but, it wasn't.

The Pit of Despair, or going to the DC
by dissonance_resolved inso our dc is coming up and my level of anxiety and depression is through the roof.
i've been fading and have noticed that when i don't go the meetings, i'm happy, calm and positive, but when i do go, it takes at least a week to recover.
so the prospect of three straight days has me in an absolute panic.

Wow, you sound upset.
Overdose on laxatives and say you're going to the convention next city over to cover it in a month or two.
Book a hotel, enjoy your weekend off.
Extreme solution for your extreme distress(?).
Really extreme.
PS. I had already comitted to taking some people to my last DC and I did drink vodka out of a water bottle, lol. I can't endorse that though. Don't lose your way dealing with your emotions with drugs or alcohol (if you're like me you've been practicing that while being a 'believer')... I ended up having to abstain. The world still expects you to be an adult after you get through this. I'm even surprising myself that I'd recomend the laxatives... but ...

Accused of thinking too much
by biometrics ini've been officially accused of "thinking too much".. i've tried to quit thinking, but i'm hoplessly addicted to it.i just can't seem to turn my brain off.. at times duing my school years i was accused of not thinking enough.
now i'm guilty of thinking too much!.
the brother even went on to say "could you imagine what the witness organisation if everyone was thinking independently like you do"?

Nice 'Fubar' picture there. I remember watching those guys at Loose Moose Theatre way back in the day.
Friends of friends kind of thing from drama class. I'd have been in there doing that stuff with them if I could do it over... but, you know... what with the 'Youth' brochure, etc... I was knocking on doors in my young adulthood instead.
Good times... good times.
Agree with Simon... heart warming... cleaning some old boxes out of basement that got wet and people offering us help and water, etc. We got off really lucky so the volunteers can help elsewhere, but wow..... 'worldly' people are such assholes, eh?!
Canmore for this Canadian tomorrow!
