Memorial Day.... still struggling with the idea of war and support
by Butterflyleia85 inso i do respect and am very greatful for the sacrifies those who dedicated their family, lives, etc.
to defend our freedom, lives, and land, but if we lived in a world where we lived as monks or jehovah's witnesses (basicly just the practise of no war).... would that be wrong?.
what's a good lesson or level of reasoning when supporting the idea of war?.

JW Grammar is...
by jw07 in*we are all from different cultural and educational backgrounds, we all experience different circumstances in life, and i don't mean to offend anyone on this forum in any way.*.
with that said here are my observations, and i want to know what you have observed.. in my experience i have noticed a trend: zealous witnessestend to exhibit the worst grammar when compared to non-witnesses!.
i want you to think back, or check it out for yourself if you haven't noticed it.. on social networks: compare comments on anything by jws (especially the uber-zealous ones) with those of your atheist or other religiously affiliated friends.

Or this comment by an MS wife in her forties...
'Why do these worldly scientists and "experts" have to complicate everything. The only thing we really need math for is to let us know how much ingredients are needed when we make a batch of cookie for our children.'
omg, she was pretty, but I still wanted to punch her in the face.

Elders and Ministerial Servants that are barely able to read were always a cause of discomfort for me. I was embarrassed for them and especially for their wives. Funny example though: Revelation book study - mid 90s. The phrase 'wily serpent Satan' was in the paragraph. The elder asked after the question in the book his own question... 'Can anybody tell my what "willy serpent Satan" is?'. I always repeat the story as wishing I'd piped up and yelled 'Tell him Claire!' Also, he wasn't a nice person, dumb and a jerk.

2034 is going to be a huge letdown for the dubs
by wha happened? ini've seen a few postings of a possible "next date" for dubs of 2034. based on an article they published comparing the last days to the days of noah.
preaching for 120 years.
however, i noticed a little tidbit from wiki about age:.

JW's don't stay in the BOrg for doctrine, they stay in for the social benefits. ----- Yup, so true. Right from the grannies that knit to the early 20's spiritual weakling 'rebel' that got df'd and sits at the back of the hall to be reinstated. It's where their friends are.

Well, in my case, years of bound volumes, meetings, studies, talks, etc... slipped away with the reading of 'In Search of Christian Freedom'.
One book! Actually, I was mentally out before even being half done. That's powerful. GB kryptonite!
Like my little brother said... 'no wonder they are so afraid of a person reading this type of literature... no intelligent person could ever be a Jehovah's Witness after reading it'.

Why won't JWs have "civilized" debates with home owners?
by ilikecheese init seems kind of crazy to go to someone's house touting your religion as truth and then not even defend your own beliefs.
why do jws stop the chat if someone just tries to calmly reason/debate with them?
i'm not talking about crazy preachers who start slamming bibles and yelling about how they need jesus or something.
