  i want a tattoo, but i want it to make a statement.

  and that statement is that i think the jw's are a cult and bad in all ways.

  The JW life is good!

  for some people.

  i think of the old man who has no family and lives in a nursing home, and the only time he gets out is when he's picked up for the meetings.

  he lives solely for that.. or people who love routine and busy-ness, people who need to be led.. george orwell wrote that the party is best able to impose its worldview on those least likely to understand what it is that's being asked of them: orthodoxy is unconsciousness.. i believe a lot of jws swallow the party line and it passes through them unharmed, like a seed pooped out by a bird.

  Should I send this letter to my non-JW cousin who refuses to listen to ANY criticism of our JW relatives?

  what are your views on my letter below?

  i thought i'd let it sit with her for a couple of weeks or more before following it up .

  i ask this because the wt always bangs on about if you trust in jehovah and make that leap into pioneering, you will always be provided for.

  at the time i joined the cult, a friend was continuous aux.

  *Phew* Well, I'm glad it's over for you. Your story is the one that's not heard from the platforms. Feeling alone, broke, etc. Ughh.

  I've noticed that pioneers can have a hate or each other that their not allowed to acknowledge. Actually, come to think of it it was pioneers that were the most brazen about who'd they would and wouldn't like to work with in service at the arrangements.

  That came out a year or two before we started attending... pisses me off.

  Stuff I was into that stopped.

  Boy Scouts

  Band

  Drama

  Soccer

  Hockey

  It pisses me off more now than it did then. The 'truth' hadn't grown trite yet... oh but it did... it did.

  Dropping Drama disspoints me the most at the moment when I look back. I should have been Mike Myers... that bastard has my life!

  Moving out, away and starting a new post JW life

  recently at my last meeting, an older brother "in good standing" got disfellowshipped.. sitting only two seats away from him, i saw as he burst into tears as lifelong friends and family began their shunning and immediate gossip in the form of whispers came up from above the brothers and sisters in the kingdom hall.

  i felt like giving him a hug and telling him that it was going to be okay and that whatever the reason for his disfellowshipment was, it didnt matter and that god still loved him but before i could muscle up enough courage to do so, he stood up in tears and left.. i shed a few silent tears for him.

  i didn't see anyone else do the same.. it was at that moment that i realized without a doubt that living this way is just not worth it at all.. so i've thought about it long and hard and now i just want to move far away and just start new again.

  Also, remember, you're not stuck for the rest of your life with this decision.

  'I moved a little too far away OR I should have moved further away' ... you can reassess and do it in 6mos or a year.

  In my honest opinion the people who have lives that suck make a lifetime habit of making bad decisions.

  Your life will be a result of a bunch of decisions, not just this one. We can afford to make some mistakes and still do great.

  Some people think until the cows have not only come home but died and don't take any action because they're already drained... others don't work hard enough to make their decisions work - it's a personal balance. Just some friendly advice.

  hhmmm... yeah... it is balanced to come around to being honest about some of the good stuff.

  Belonging to a group... something bigger. For a couple of years when the DC was on ... I kind of missed it... all the walking around and 'How've you been?'s. It had a dignity (though superficial, I know) that I like. We all dressed up so nice!

  Then I realized that I just missed the lunch time... not the way the information made me squirm with being picked on for doing anything, etc...

  For some, I can see it working....

  If you like having some power, your family was overall sincere, you like being a cheezy goody-goody, you have a total crap sense of humour that really likes puns, you weren't married to somebody molested, etc..

  Some people could get more positive than negative out of it... just not me.

  It worked... now it doesn't ... the world's not so scary to explore without being in a group. Heck, when I travel in groups I ditch my countrymen as soon as I can... mix it up with locals, etc. I don't need to see and feel the world through the 'safety of the organization'.

  Didn't some one in the bible talk about thinking as a boy, etc... well, I'm older now.

  But yeah, it wasn't all bad, that'd be just dishonest.

  Do you tuck your shirt in?

  normally i do not tuck my shirt in.

  if my work enviroment or any special occasion requires me to be dressed up, i always tuck my shirt in.

  i just like to be very comfortable.
