I read an interesting book about the sacred name of God. A bit long winded in places but I thought the arguments against the English language name Jehovah were sound. Especially with chapter 10. Here's a link to the free book on Issu:

Have you ever been on a congregation picnic?
by LostintheFog1999 inwere you ever on a congregation picnic?
i was on several occasions.. the arrangements were often announced from the platform after the closing song and prayer by the last elder up on the platform.. sometimes it was included in the service meeting announcements as "on saturday we're meeting at 10.00am at the kingdom hall for field service, and after field service for anyone who wishes, especially for the younger ones, we will be having a congregation picnic meeting at the beach carpark on seaview road.".
well, according to the new elders manual you won't be hearing those words again.

Should Jehovah's Witnesses Trust the Governing Body?
by Vanderhoven7 inif there is evidence that jesus invisibly chose specific men at headquarters in brooklyn new york in 1919 to be his faithful slave and that mandate and ability passed on to future directors...then the answer might just be a resounding maybe.. what is the evidence for this invisible appointment and what is the evidence that this is just watchtower mythology?.
i hope jws like scholar and fisherman will explain why the trust the gb.. i must be honest, i see no evidence at all to put trust in either the 1919 selection or the current men taking the lead in warwick.

The problem with believing that God especially picked them in 1918 as regular readers of this website know is that in 1918 they were still advocating prophecies about 1874 all of which had failed.
The two issues I never could make sense of were 1. Who appointed these men to the GB? Answer: their cronies; and 2. How did Jehovah/Jesus talk to them? Answer: He didn't. They discussed a topic and if they had a majority agreement they felt that HS was leading them to the right decision.
In other words, no different from a non-religious board of directors reaching a decision on what direction their business should go.

Simon,
My apologies if you think I have erred in relation to this matter. I would like to know how someone who's name I can't find on the users list can message me. I have only replied to them via this website's message option as that is how they messaged me.

Viruses Killed The Woolly Mammoths.
by LostintheFog1999 ini can remember the original turquoise coloured evolution book produced by the organisation and the numerous public talks around it.
mind-blowing to a gullible youngster growing up in a jw family.. the flood of noah's day when thousands of tons of suspended water fell from the atmosphere and on hitting the cold poles instantly plunged the woolly mammoths into a deep freeze, to the extent that the last mouthful of grass was still there in the mouth in mid-chomp.
you can quickly see why a kid with a fertile imagination was transfixed by those apparently up-to-date scientific discoveries as presented by the wt org!.

“The Governing Body is neither inspired nor infallible. Therefore, it can err in doctrinal matters or in organizational direction... Of course, Jesus did not tell us that his faithful slave would produce perfect spiritual food."
That is a quote from The Watchtower of February 2017 study edition pg. 26.
One of the illustrations I learned as a JW involved a glass of refreshing drinking water that had one drop of a virtually undetectable poison in it. It was enough to kill you if you took a sip, though you could never tell by just looking at the glass or even drinking out of it until it was too late. They used this to illustrate other religions, ironically. Their thinking was that even if the teaching of a religion was 99% good, it was the 1% that would kill you. In contrast to the 100% purity of the accurate teachings of the GB/FDS. Except in the above quote they openly admit that they were neither accurate or pure themselves!

Yes, I am referring to the messaging service within this site.
I am also curious if other people were being asked to do similar.
What puzzles me is that I can't find Bola in the list of users???

What rot! Nowadays science tells us that it was the secret world of viruses that killed the mammoths.
It's a shame it took so long for me to find out it's always the unseen secret things that ultimately kill you. Like the secrets and lies told to trap people inside this insidious cult.

Is The Religion Of Jehovah's Witnesses Biblical?
by Vanderhoven7 inthe answer is a definite no!.
because every doctrine that is unique to jehovah's witnesses is not in the bible.
the unique doctrines of jehovah’s witnesses are the ones that only jehovah’s witnesses teach.

Going back to the original post here. It is delusional of the witnesses hierarchy to honestly believe that the apostle John on the island of Patmos had visions and dreams of a small group of Americans (an undiscovered land when he was living) holding conventions in Cedar Point, Ohio!
And yet in the Revelation Climax book we had all the studies about the pouring out of the bowls of denunciation representing events in the 1920s onwards.
Yes it is in the Bible, but the interpretation and application directly to the JW religion is pure fantasy. There's saner people locked up in mental asylums up and down the country!
