In relation to a study program being undertaken I came across this accredited article and thought it would be worth sharing with this group.

watch tower is in court all the time.
it wins some.
it loses others.. we know it costs £££££ to go to court, pay barristers, expert witnesses, etc.. with wtc going to court for so many diverse reasons these days, from challenging laws to defending wt practices and paying out to csa victims, how much do you think wtc is spending annually on court cases?.

Can anybody put a figure on it for us?
saw this on a pomo friend's page and thought it was definitely worth sharing with all of you.
i had never seen it before but i don't know if any of you have.. https://witnessnomore.com/?page_id=19.

"a number of techniques employed to mislead others fall under the category of weasel words, and this article quotes examples that are regularly found in watchtower publications.. weasel words are defined as:.
“words or statements that are intentionally ambiguous or misleading,”[1].
intended “to avoid answering a question clearly or to make someone believe something that is not true."[2].
There was a radio program about how publishing companies tweak newspaper book reviews to place Quotes on the back of their paperback books.
Examples given were "if you are looking for a really exciting mystery story, don't bother buying this book!" and "I was looking for an author like Agatha Christie but unfortunately this isn't close to her!"
So the publisher lifts the relevant part of the sentence and puts it on the back cover of the paperback in emphasis - the New York Times wrote "... an author like Agatha Christie..." The Times of London said that this is "... a really exciting mystery story..."
Well they did say those words but not in the implied way because the words have been lifted out of context.
As I was listening to this radio program I thought to myself it is exactly what the WT does with a lot of their quotations, quoting the source at times, but not showing the full quotation in the context from which it was lifted!
i was reading an article about the pomp and circumstance around the first coronation in nearly a century.. made me think of the revelation book (the red one, not the bible) and the picture of the two headed beast with a sword and if i have some time today i will see if i can’t find it and age it a bit, it seems the sword is a bit dull and the two heads are now both octogenarians with severe dementia, kind of funny to see that instead of “swift judgment” we’ve come to internal decay.. what do you canadians, english, scots, irish and australians think about your new leadership?.
English spiritual/new age author William Bloom recently gave his view of the Coronation:
"Seen through a metaphysical lens the coronation is a grand event of ceremonial magic. The monarch's aura will be blessed, suffused and linked to great angels, spirits and archetypal virtues. The archbishop and colleagues are the high priests. The crown, sword, sceptre and spurs are all symbolic artefacts which resonate to help anchor these blessings."
here’s a couple good ones: a. jesus said, “come to me and i will give you rest”.. why did jesus command us to go to him and not jehovah?.
why does the bible say that the name of jesus is above every name?
.
It reminds me of an older elder who used to stress repeatedly in his public talks that the Christian Greek Scriptures were only written for those who had a hope of getting to heaven. The Hebrew Scriptures were written for the Jews/Israelites only.
And OT and NT were only in the Bible as guidelines or as interesting background to those with an earthly hope.
Made me wonder why we even bothered reading it at the time.
He was great fun, sadly he died after getting Alzheimer's about a decade ago.
in jesus's parable of the good samaritan what did the samaritan man do?
he assisted the wounded man in a loving and practical way.
he used his own finances to make sure that he was cared for and promised additional money to the innkeeper who was looking after the injured man, saying that he was willing to reimburse him for any additional costs incurred.
It didn't matter to him that Jews were usually hostile to Samaritans.
JWs see themselves as the Good Samaritan. However, they never put their hands in their pockets and as an organisation help those in need. They don't run food banks, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, charity or thrift stores, even though they claim charitable status off the governments in whatever land they operate in. With crisis after crisis happening in the world today, such as in Ukraine, Afghanistan, or most recently in Sudan, thousands of people are on the move as refugees. What help are WTC giving to such destitute people?
In the study edition of the Watchtower of May 2017 paragraph 19 they actually put their stinginess in print while quoting the parable Jesus gave! How any JW can feel that their organisation are collectively emulating the Good Samaritan that Jesus described is absurd. They are definitely NOT even close to being like the the Good Samaritan! It would be laughable if it wasn't so serious. The attached screenshot shows you what I mean.
jws are quick to apply jesus's parable of the good or neighbourly samaritan to themselves.
originally they applied it to jesus but that interpretation changed over time.. however, as i was reading it again recently, i saw a different interpretation.
the man who was lying hurt by the roadside was a jew.
JWs are quick to apply Jesus's parable of the good or neighbourly Samaritan to themselves. Originally they applied it to Jesus but that interpretation changed over time.
However, as I was reading it again recently, I saw a different interpretation. The man who was lying hurt by the roadside was a Jew. He believed that he belonged to the one and only true religion, because they had the Law and the Prophets. They were guided by their religious leaders who interpreted the Law as it applied to the ordinary Jewish men and women. They disdained the gentiles and wouldn't even eat with such people.
Now, which group of people does that remind you of today? Which religious group believe that friendship with any person outside of their circle is taboo? Who rely on their leadership and governing body to interpret the scriptures and through company men they police the ordinary men and women who are in the religion to make sure that they are obeying the rules? When we were inside it likely applied to all of us!
Who then is the Samaritan? He is any person of another religion or of another set of beliefs who is moved from his heart to assist, not because he was told to do it, but because he has genuine humanity.
Many of us upon leaving JWs were battered and bruised and cast aside, ignored by former friends and elders who shunned us, even just as in the parable, crossing the street and going up the other side to avoid having to talk to us.
But we have been approached and befriended by people who are genuine. People who have welcomed us into the real world that exists outside of the JW cult. It is what I found as I grew my own circle of friends. Some of my new friends are what I would call real Christians, others are atheists, and a few are practicing pagans. It doesn't bother me in the slightest because ALL of them are genuine loving and caring human beings who know what genuine friendship means and who have proved to be there when I needed help.
