Vidiot, your earlier post above referred to the 70s and 80s.
The WT admitted that they had a problem with child abuse (child molesting) within their ranks back in the 80s.
It was mentioned in passing in their Watchtower magazine of January 1st, 1986, page 13. Interestingly, the opening sentence to paragraph 12 makes reference to "prominent" ones. Clearly these were elders and ministerial servants who were caught on and disfellowshipped, making you wonder how many more weren't caught on and were able to carry on by virtue of their prominence within the congregation or organisation!

Court Cases Costs?
by LostintheFog1999 inwatch tower is in court all the time.
it wins some.
it loses others.. we know it costs £££££ to go to court, pay barristers, expert witnesses, etc.. with wtc going to court for so many diverse reasons these days, from challenging laws to defending wt practices and paying out to csa victims, how much do you think wtc is spending annually on court cases?.

Can anybody put a figure on it for us?

WEASEL WORDS--WHAT ARE THEY--HOW THE WTS USES
by blondie in"a number of techniques employed to mislead others fall under the category of weasel words, and this article quotes examples that are regularly found in watchtower publications.. weasel words are defined as:.
“words or statements that are intentionally ambiguous or misleading,”[1].
intended “to avoid answering a question clearly or to make someone believe something that is not true."[2].

There was a radio program about how publishing companies tweak newspaper book reviews to place Quotes on the back of their paperback books.
Examples given were "if you are looking for a really exciting mystery story, don't bother buying this book!" and "I was looking for an author like Agatha Christie but unfortunately this isn't close to her!"
So the publisher lifts the relevant part of the sentence and puts it on the back cover of the paperback in emphasis - the New York Times wrote "... an author like Agatha Christie..." The Times of London said that this is "... a really exciting mystery story..."
Well they did say those words but not in the implied way because the words have been lifted out of context.
As I was listening to this radio program I thought to myself it is exactly what the WT does with a lot of their quotations, quoting the source at times, but not showing the full quotation in the context from which it was lifted!

Charles the Third and the Two-Headed Beast
by Anony Mous ini was reading an article about the pomp and circumstance around the first coronation in nearly a century.. made me think of the revelation book (the red one, not the bible) and the picture of the two headed beast with a sword and if i have some time today i will see if i can’t find it and age it a bit, it seems the sword is a bit dull and the two heads are now both octogenarians with severe dementia, kind of funny to see that instead of “swift judgment” we’ve come to internal decay.. what do you canadians, english, scots, irish and australians think about your new leadership?.

English spiritual/new age author William Bloom recently gave his view of the Coronation:
"Seen through a metaphysical lens the coronation is a grand event of ceremonial magic. The monarch's aura will be blessed, suffused and linked to great angels, spirits and archetypal virtues. The archbishop and colleagues are the high priests. The crown, sword, sceptre and spurs are all symbolic artefacts which resonate to help anchor these blessings."

Scriptures That Don’t Fit WT Theology
by Sea Breeze inhere’s a couple good ones: a. jesus said, “come to me and i will give you rest”.. why did jesus command us to go to him and not jehovah?.
why does the bible say that the name of jesus is above every name?

It reminds me of an older elder who used to stress repeatedly in his public talks that the Christian Greek Scriptures were only written for those who had a hope of getting to heaven. The Hebrew Scriptures were written for the Jews/Israelites only.
And OT and NT were only in the Bible as guidelines or as interesting background to those with an earthly hope.
Made me wonder why we even bothered reading it at the time.
He was great fun, sadly he died after getting Alzheimer's about a decade ago.
