Hi Allenbee, I have often wondered what JW's make of Zechariah 14. That is another end time scenario.

The great tribulation
by Allenbee inwhere does one find the truth after the watchtower ?.
according to the jw governing body... only jw's are left on earth after armageddon.. so i'm a private bible student and find jesus and all the prophets in total disagreement with this "gov body" who like all religions leaders, are actually the prophesied false christs.. please read math 24 straight... to see how to survive the great tribulation.
only after the great tribulation does the sign of our lord's presence appear.. this is not armageddon yet.. discussion from private bible students is most welcome..

Actions and consequences of Lot’s wife vs. David
by Yesu Kristo Bwana Wangu inactions and consequences of lot’s wife vs. actions and consequences of david.
genesis 19 talks about how sodom and gomorrah were destroyed.
david under any law: yes, under the law of moses crime: adultery and murder consequence: nothing but blessings from god.

Was the death of Lot's wife actually punishment, or just the result of her not running?
The destruction of Sodom came very quickly so that the angels had to urge Lot to run for his life.
Surely if someone says "run for your life" it is a good idea to run, not to stop and watch what is coming.

For those that read the bible, does the true message of scripture still come through in NWT?
by NikL inmy active and in jw wife is up for reading bible together.
thing is she wants to use nwt.. i have problems with that translation as you my imagine.. just wondering if you thought the true message of the bible will shine through the deliberate tampering of the nwt?.
i know many people here don't like or want to read the bible and think it's rubbish anyway, so if that's you, you can save your comments :-).

I have found e-sword very useful.
It gives the meaning of the words taken from the original language, and several versions of the Bible.
Or get a copy of Strong's concordance.

Who is Gog/Magog?
by Cold Steel inezekiel spends two chapters (38-39) describing a war that either will never take place, or which has yet to take place.
according to the prophecy, the warlord gog, of magog, will 1) sweep down on israel, covering the land like a cloud.
this will happen in 2) the latter years when israel will 3) be a people “gathered out of many nations” and peoples.

Magog, Meshech and Tubal were all sons of Japheth in Genesis 10. The Ezekiel quote refers to their descendants.

Watchtower's Illogical Teachings
by Vanderhoven7 injust writing down some notes to share with jws when i meet them.
here are a few of the problems of logic i see in their doctrines.
perhaps you can add to them.. systemic contradictions – jws boast about fighting for religious freedom – that is their freedom to share their differing views with people outside the organization - yet there is no freedom amongst members to disagree with any official teaching within the organization without the threat of losing friends and family.

They come to my door and say they have the truth but later on change their doctrine.
If it was the truth the first time round, why change?
It would be better to find the truth first and then tell me.

They come to my door and try to dismantle mine. I look on it as a debate rather than an attack.

question from readers: with all the animal sacrifices, wouldnt the temple smell worse than a stockyard?
by nowwhat? inwith all the cattle, sheep and others wouldn't they be shitting and peeing all over the place?
along with the gallons and gallons of blood being drained and then the flesh being burned as well.
wouldn't the stench be unbearable?.
-

I have often wondered about that.
They did eat some of the sacrifices, so it might have been no worse than our abattoirs. They would not have wanted bulls running around in panic killing people so it would have had to be well organised and blood collected and disposed of rather than being on the ground and slipped on.
No doubt there would have been smells and flies.

Why Jehovah's Witnesses are WRONG about Christmas
by David_Jay inas you know (and are probably tired of hearing me repeat), i’m jewish.
yes, i was a jehovah’s witness when i was a teenager and into my 20s, but returned to my roots and now celebrate chanukah when the holiday season comes around each year.. so why am i writing about christmas?
well, that’s because i thought i would share something about how jehovah’s witnesses teach against christmas.

I see it as a time to look after your health, have plenty of good food and keep warm at a cold and depressing time of year. The ancients who started this custom knew what they were doing.

devil question
by Carol1111 ini had a discussion with 4 jws today and they told me that jesus could not be tempted, ( they say that he would not be perfect if he could) but also they told me that satan tempted jesus in the wilderness.. can anyone clarify their beliefs please.
i like to give them a reasoned argument when i talk to them, but have never noticed this conflict of ideas before..

How did Satan come to sin if he was created by God, and God's creation is perfect?
They told me that Adam sinned because he was tempted by Satan, and he would not have sinned otherwise.
None of it makes any sense. I can't understand why they can't see that.
