A new year ... a new start ...

well, 2002 comes to a close and it's been a busy year.. we have had over 380,000 posts!

in them we've laughed, we've cried, we've celebrated and commiserated, we've fallen out and made up and we've seen new people come and people move on.. what's to come in 2003?.

well, some changes .... the new forum is nearly ready (though i expect will never be 'finished' lol) and i think it is a good opportinity to do some things differently and make a 'fresh start'.. i have incorporated features that will allow me to give other people the chance to get involved running the site so it becomes less 'mine' and more 'ours'.

ty u so much for this site. It is tthe first xjw/jw site i have felt comfortable reading and posting on. so it is one of the highlights for my year 2002.

We are watching our adoreable grandchildren tonight. I bought Barbie toothbrushes, big bird toothapste, glitter make up kits. talking books, and OMG, i"M a grandmother!!

Happy new year to u and yours and all on the board. it not quite 5p in dallas, and our celebrartion this pm will be watching the big ball land in NYC/we are so exciting!

i was talking to a good friend of mine who was never a witness, but he knows alot about what we believed as witnesses.

i work with him and he was always joking about how jw's are into amway, you know all the jokes everyone made about jw's that , since we are out, we see are true.lol.. i was telling him how my son jake, 15, likes this musical group called "insane clown posse"(sp)and how crazy this music is , but some of it i even like.

my friend who has a son a little younger than ours laughed about this and said his son is getting into the new age, stuff these kids like now.

i just posted on another thread about "disassociateng inactive ones" that we needed our own "witness protection progrm" but to protect our own and hide them out from the witnesses.

Disassociating inactive ones?

a few days ago someone wrote about a new rule that came out in elders school this summer about inactive ones still being accountable to jehovah's (watchtower) rules.

does this mean that they are going to start disassociating ones who have been inactive for years who are not upholding the rules?

i know of a few people who have not attended meeting in several years who either celebrate holidays or in other ways break the rules and everybody knows it.

i am feeling a bit emotional today,,,,,, i was watching cnn today and there is a big debate going on , if they are going to do another draft like back in the vietnam war.

my son served in KoSoVo and is on the inactive return list. He said it was awful in KoSoVo and

his life was always in danger. Of course he never told me that, when we managed to make phone contact.

I did not want to lose my son, but many people have given their lives to keep our country free. I am grateful he was able to come home.

per him, if things escalated to WW3, he could possibly be called again.

I understand how every mother feels here, for my son went, did return, but may have to go again, I will support him in whatever decison he makes .

CONGREGATION SPLITS

how many times were you in a congregation split?

i was in 1 in about my 10 yrs active as a jdub.

altogether, probaly 6-8 splits. One split, all the popular people went to one cong. and left the rest of us duds. Eldes just announced where they were going and it did not matter what side of the geographial line they lived on.One elder lived in one territory and attened another cong. b/c he made it openly known he did not feel that particular cong had jehovahs spirit.

Our inheritance is going to WTS

just found out yesterday, by way of the grapevine, that my jw husband's inheritance from his parents, is going to the wts.

i had been trying to tell my husband that the wts is doing this now, and he did not believe me.

and would u believe it, we heard yesterday, from his his nephew, that it is so, they are not leaving anything to their kids, all to the wts.

This situation where JW parents are disinheriting their children who have left the JWs or who are not active JWs is an interesting twist on the "corban" principle that the WTS appears to so vehemently condemn the Pharisees for permitting in the first century. Yet when the money is going into the WTS's treasury, rather than to rightful heirs, it's encouraged and recommended

yes it is an interesting twist. I expect to see more of it, as the wts actively encourges jws not to have anything ot do with da/df or inactive relatives.They fight really dirty.

Need Help with Info Sheet

my somewhat "inactive" mother says she's getting the feeling that i'm losing my faith in the wts and has asked me to explain to her.

problem is, i locked up because it's been so recent and my mother can be quite intimidating.

she's a "see it to believe it" person and has suggested that i show her proof.

HiThis is the mentally ill, paranoid Schiz mother? Nickey, this may not be a good idea, she could become psychotic on u. I know u want to help your mom, but her mind may not be able to deal with this info. She is safe in her world now, and if u attempt to bring her out of it, well at the very least she'll be unpleasnt to u. Also, do u care if the elders know about this? B/c she is probalby talking to them as we speak.

I know u care about your mom, to have put up with all this. But be careful, she may become very paranoid .

DeDE, what an awful story. These people are so corrupt, and all the while holding a bible. I looked for the begging messages on back of the WT i currently have and did not see them..But i have before.

yes, there are 6 grandchildren in total. U would think there would be some laws involved here.

OK, i too am sort or wondring if your haldol needs adjustement

One problem is the article so long and confusing and deals with aliens.The WTS is bad enough on its own, that i wouldn't think we would need to bring aliens into the picture.

But , welcome to the board.Talk about entrances.

BTW, i wouldn't tell this to anyone else.
