I can't recall i mentioned it but we had an "honor killing" here. two teenage girls killed by father b/c at least one was dating an American boy. news has been scarce, as the news here has almost been on lock down. i heard more on the cable news about it than local. we have huge Muslim community here. scary thing a father killing his two daughters b/c he felt his religion demanded it.

Iran - to Stone To Death 2 Sisters
by Rabbit inhttp://snafu-ed.blogspot.com/2008/02/iranian-sisters-to-be-stoned-to-death.html.
this is not a 'muslim bashing' thread.
it is a perfect example why old words, found in caves, written by someone you don't know...in a desert far, far away can be dangerous.. turkey, a 98% muslim country is a secular country.

Remember when assemblies were fun?
by Aphrodite ini just remembered when i was a kid and we would go to the assembly, it was fun because we got to buy new clothes and put extra effort into looking good.
when we would get there you could save your seats and even save some for your friends, then go off looking for them.. i used to love our circuit assembly because of the food.
it was at the assembly hall and there was a big kitchen, some of my favourite brothers worked in that kitchen, sometimes i was allowed to go in and help.

yes they were fun . many of us spent most of our time in the corridors looking for dates. I met most of my jw boyfriends that way.
memories lol

Blood is not usually given unless it is a very serious situation. I know that did not used to be the way the medical profession treated things but things changed. They found out serious things can be passed via blood and other body fluids. even Medicare will not pay for the first 3 units of blood.
All that said, if an emergency happened and a person needed blood -it is suicide to refuse it. I don't care what anyone's stupid religion says. It is suicide. I made it clear to my DH before he left jws that if he were ever unconscious and needed blood- he'd receive it. At least he'll be alive to forgive me or thank me. If he were conscious-I'd knock myself out screaming and crying until he took the blood. I will not let my husband sacrifice his life on the altar of an ancient Jewish law that is misapplied.

MAgnesium and my migraine
by Vivamus inwell, first off, to you whom suggested magnesium to me, thank you (i think) .
my headaches have been a constant source of misery for me since my last desperate post regarding them.
but i did start on the magnesium treatment.

wednesday
((( Viv)))I have had migraines for years. .. someone spoke to me and well- they may as well been speaking Pig Latin- I could not understand one word. I was frightened. Then the headache and nausea began.I was vomiting for hours. I called the neuro and he said 'atypical migraine".
I like magnesium for many things. I use it along with meds for muscle spams and relaxation(anxiety). you can get too much. goggle excessive magnesium and that should give some info. the balance of magnesium and calcium must be correct.
I have tried so many things. I find a ibuprofen 800 mg -1 or 2 or them at the start of a migraine help. Also I have taken a fluid pill at the start of one. ( swelling in brain tissues to). Also, I have taken an antihistamine . (allergies can cause migraines, as can food allergies)
I believe the winning combo one night was
fluid pill, 800 mg x2 ibuprofen, allerga 180 .. My choice for quick relief is Imitrex nasal spray. I believe zomig has a nasal spray too. I have found that opiates seldom provide much relief.
some people use depakote as a preventive medicine. also topamax is being used like that too.
magnesium can be very powerful. they use it IV to stop seizures.
hope you get some relief soon..

Any introverts out there?
by wings ini took freedom frogs personality test yesterday, three times.
my lowest introverted score was 67. i think that borders on recluse.
are you comfortable with that part of yourself?.
-
wednesday
I took that test too, I got INFP. I am an introvert now. i have not always been so. I was very outgoing, my home was grand central when i was in my 20's. the jws just beat the life out of me. They are cruel sick people.
I find it very hard to be in a crowd, and prefer the company of just a few people at one time. I like people, don't get me wrong, I love people.I just find it overwhelms me now. so much of that is due to jws .

What type of person are you attracted to now?
by Layla33 ini was just thinking about this the other day, about how my ideas of a romantic partner have changed since being a jw.. growing up, i thought i would marry a very upstanding jw, we would pioneer together, do missionary work, have children, see the world.
(never had any thoughts about bethel, though.
) so what it boiled down to was a stepford husband, up tight, not the least bit sexual, closed minded bore.. so now that i have grown up, seen the world, been married (and actually picked a good man the first time, although it didn't work out), i just contrast that with what i am attracted to now.. i like them open minded, earthy, i love artistic types because i am a published writer, hair doesn't matter to me (long/short, bald, etc), challenges convention, very sexual, still like a traveling man.. i am just curious if you anyone else can compare and contrast how their ideas have changed since breaking out the group-think of the jw organization..

Why did I read this thread???
same reason if your finger smells you'll keep smelling it. saw this on Seinfeld once and it's true, if your finger smells often the first thing we do is ask someone to smell it too.

30 y/o Bros from TX move to FL, have a party with 16 y/o Sisters!
by MinisterAmos inwe here in the fl panhandle were "blessed" to have some 25 ish y/o brothers from tx move here recently.
they had the usual welcoming party two weeks ago, and all the young bros from mobile to fort waalton showed up to welcome them!
the only thing was, there was no elder to supervise!

One of the Brothers had been encouraged to provide some *worldly* girls for amusement purposes, so he brought two 17 year olds, a Korean girl, and a Mexican girl both from the local HS.
They're worldly right? so the Bros are not going to get ratted out to the Elders.
To make a long story short, after loading them up with alcohol, and doing things that the WTS would be very unhappy about, the Bros dumped them outside the house at around 6AM.
I've got pics (the morons are distributing them!) and plan on sending copies to all, even the Police.hope they are booking them as we speak.

R Crusoe
i know what is on the mind of a 25+ yr old man who has sex with a under 17 yr old. she is not of the age to give consent.
