I realized the wts and it followers were dangerous years before I finally stopped attending. I could find no way out at the time so I did what I could- I refused to go in service. I refused to give the mags to anyone else. I refused to be involved in letting the wts ruin anyones else's life. I could not in good conscience go out in service. It made me inactive and "marked" but I took a stand. I also found ways to counter witness during this time. It was a small thing but I did what i could.

It's just a stupid little cult religion. Yea, it's fucked up some people but so has a bunch of other religions not to mention governments. Going though life with so much anger can't be good for one. The best revenge is to live well. I don't hate the JWs as a people...there are some good people, some decent people. I don't like the religion...I hate certain aspects of it, but hell, life is too short to get all worked up over it and allow it to eat at me and destroy me from within.
while I agree that anger and bitterness can destroy your life- there is nothing like righteous indignation . It can move mountains and snap you right back to your senses.
Some of us have been brutally abused by the wts. We have had more than stupid doctrines pushed on us. We have been violated physically, emotionally/verbally and so on. Some of us will be seeing therapists for the rest of our lives. They owe us for that. they have taken our entire families from us-some of us have taken our lives as a result of this stupid little cult.

yes you do have to move on and begin a new life, but I take every shot i can to tell people who jws really are. We need to
publicize, publicize publicize the False hoods they teach. we need to reach people BEFORE they study with them.
Yes Baptists and Methodist and etc are annoying people as are many Fundy's, but a least you can walk away and still have your family speak to you. they have colleges too.

It gave me the motivation to stop smoking.- smoking is a bad habit not a sin, and any number of places that can help you with this.
It taught me not to be in fear of hellfire.- it gave us Armageddon. lots churches do not believe in a literal hellfire.
It taught me to be a better person,.- any church or therapist or good parents, community involvement can do that. .
It taught me to be a better public speaker and reader.- school and debate can do that too,
It taught me better study habits which helped for college etc. -school can do that.
it taught me how to "cold sell " good for sales training- , they do teach us to sell
it taught me how to deal with people better- school, community, any church can do this, good parents too, support groups , your job
On the RBC it taught me building skills- OK
JWS have given me nothing that involvement with my community , decent parents , and the school system , any Church or spirituality could not have given me.

Its OK BB. There is nothing wrong with your asking . Don't let those who wish to impose their opinions on you deter you. While this is not a psychic broad, I would think that this subject would not be off limits to those who wished to participate. It seems that every time someone starts a thread on this bully type posters come in to taunt those who really would like to discuss it. It would come under religion, spirituality, etc.

I doubt anyone can actually foretell the future.
I saw the movie "the gift" and I thought it was a accurate portrayal of what can happen . I have had premonitions, precognitions, etc, of things that did happen. This is usually limited to my very close associates and family. I cannot make this happen, it just does .
I would recommend seeing that movie.

by Texman55 inhowdy all, i just happened to be in your neighborhood and thought i'd ring your doorbell to tell you the good news about jehovah's kingdom, and if you don't believe every damn word of it you're going to die a horrible death real soon m*th*rf*ck*r thought i'd say howdy.. like it says on my profile, i wasted my vulnerable teen years in the watchtower bible and crap society, and it nearly killed me.
funny thing is, i wasnt coerced into it by my family, they were all worldly (well except for a very eccentric old great uncle that nobody liked or visited) and thought i was out of my fucking mind to join up with that jw shit.. which i was.
understandably, because my parents drank too much, there were truly horrible fights every night at home, a very bitter divorce when i was 10, and only child me was trapped in the middle of all that with no one to turn to.

My parents were inactive ( which a long time ago was no all that bad,it was sort of like being a Jew who never went to temple, people still spoke to you) but I digress. Anyway,was drawn into the jws org b/c I was so lonely. They were my family.
