"There is not one car sold in America that gets 35mpg in the city. " /// check suzuki and cooper, they should not be far from it, AND sure will do better mpg if you dont drive as most people do, I just can't beleive how people drive... dont forget diesel fuel vehicles, even better mpg.

For all you PETROL & GAS whiners. Stop complaining that it's too expensive!
by nicolaou inhere in the uk we're paying over a 1 a litre for regular unleaded fuel, that's about $9 per gallon for my american friends.
now i'm as aware as anyone that the bulk of my fuel pound goes to the government in duty (or fuel tax) but let's just look at the bottom line cost to you and i as motorists - 1/litre.. just getting the the damn stuff out of the ground is dangerous and expensive, especially at offshore rigs.
then you have to transport it, refine it and transport it again.

"If gas shot up to $7 a gallon, we'd be screwed. I know of several people who wouldn't be able to drive if gas cost that much." not really, just replace your 15mpg car for cheaper, smaller 35mpg car, like european drive, but again usa oil companies wont profit at all by doing that, at this time..., besides they dont want alternative fuels to find an excuse to be attractive, they would rather hope the consumer get used to the pain, slowly forcing consumers to spend less on other non essencial stuff and more on gas they back off when consumer cry out loud.due to pain [$] but just wait...

there is not even the need to go electric for the time being just fill your tank with water, make sure you already know what to add to the tank to produce a chemical reaction to get the hydrogen separated from the oxygen (H2O you know), sodium, potassium, boron? heck even alagae plants do it, naturally, why can't we? what fuel do you think NASA have been using for decades?

for any group to control the world the right proportion of /// ignorance religion and oil as energy source /// is required, the third ingredient eventually will be replaced by just another tightly controlled ingredient, such as /// helium3, hydrogen, but /// countries and people to become energy independent... NEVER during the present system, as wt says. ethanol is too easy to make but, some laws (they did that long ago, ask Rutherford about it) and control of raw material will discourage the brave, so making it cost effective impossible. ditto for hydrogen, despite the fact gov have been using it, burning it, for decades to go to the moon

For the sake of talking... Direct-tv and Dish are companies that require monthly payment depending on the package you select, they install the whole thing. FTA is free, the dish antenna should be around 80$ new, installation is easy if you are mechanically inclined, a quick and cheap way is to hold the antenna legs in place with a couple of heavy concrete blocks, no drilling the roof. many many people are just hacking the paid system... with an FTA system, the difference between the two is mainly the decoding software, i dont watch tv at all... and got out the industry long ago. Some FTA receivers come with HDTV capability, good if you have a HDTV monitor. reason for being free is the fact that it is cheap to broadcast... digitally using MPEG encoding standard, IMO it is cheaper than terrestial broadcasting, at least your potential audience is "unlimited", IPTV, internet tv, needs to improve by coming up with an standard "channel" ID and tunning method and an "appliance" for those who dont want to play with a pc. By that time tv manufacturers will include HDTV receiving capability as standard features, besides being able to connect direcly to Cable, a satellite dish and internet.

consumers typically dont have the final word, not even when they -try- to take the bull by the horns. of course as long as consumers are willing to pay the price to get the power and range from oil/gasoline... big business know EXACTLY what is the max price consumer can tolerate at a given moment. manipulation involving big business, gov and scientific community are to blame. Suzuki is showing a prototype 100 percent electric, Ionis, using hydrogen fuel cell so they told me. With the alternatives at hand, I dont understand how some countries, that can not afford and are loosing all their $ buying oil, still dont do anything about it... ignorance and stupidity is my only answer.

Besides internet tv, you can buy a usb fta receiver (free to air -satellite radio & tv-) for 70 dollars -+, to be connected to you pc or laptop, or a stand alone receiver for 120-300$, monitor required, some of the receivers come with recording capabilities, external disk required, some receivers use the hard disk in your pc or laptop for recording check available programming channels first, there are thousands fta channels from all over the world... an small dish antenna is required (same as direct-tv), remote controlled dish antenna better, the receivers can "remember" the particular satellite for you... http://www.copperbox.com/FTA-Satellite-Receivers-s/1.htm http://ftamonster.com/
