I hated never ever getting to sleep in. What kind of kid has to wake up at 7:30 m-f for school and then 7:30 on staurday for FS and then 7:30 sunday for Metting?

from shunning to crazy elder bodies to guilt trips, there are many things that were really bad.

My parents made me through an ET stuffed animal (that I won at school for getting good grades) in the fireplace. I was like 6 years old and loved it even though i never saw the movie. It burned sooo bright and hot (because, you know, it was a stuffed animal) and they told me it burned like that because it was demonized and it scared the hell out of me.
Let the funkin kid have his warrior wizard.

Who or what are you most angry at, when it comes to your situation in relation to JW Org?
by BreathoftheIndianNose ini've been receiving very bitter messages from jws i know, mostly my mother, but also others that know how to contact me electronically.
sometimes i find myself mad at her, though not displaying it.
but i know it's really not her or my fathers fault.

Mostly the higher ups because you know they don't get the privilege of being naive on it all. They know it's BS. Do you really think they are all true believers? Not with all they've seen.
I’m mad at mom a little too. It's a parent’s job to protect their kids from this kind of stuff.

I didn't mind the first lesson so much, in a way i liked it (minus the religion part). The production quality was great, the voice acting fairly good, the script overall was meh. The second one was pretty rough I won't lie. I cringed through most of it. Were there only two then?

Belief in evolution begets belief in God
by yadda yadda 2 ina strange statement i know.
but consider.... if humans evolved, and humans are a relatively recent evolution, then would it not make sense to believe there might be other far more ancient intelligent beings (who would appear to humans to be like gods/a god) who began evolving long before humans?
in a sense, to believe in human evolution hardly refutes god's existence, unless you believe that us humans are the only thing in the entire universe that has evolved into a salient, intelligent, self-aware being.
-

Well in that case I agree completely. H uman evolution hardly refutes God's existence. Not only is it possible that there are other advanced species out there, it's downright inevitable. The earth doesn't seem to be special in it's chemistry or anything. The atoms that make up the human body are pretty much exactly what the universe as a whole is made of and in prettymuch the exact same proportions.
We've not heard from any others for a few reasons, but we may soon with advances in radio astronomy.

Simple answer, please! Scientifically explain the origin of life coming from nothing!
by Silent_Scream inscientific method asserts nothing living can come from something non-living.
science is observable, science is reproducible.
a living thing coming from non-living matter has never been observed nor reproduced.. therefore, it takes faith in an unknown process to believe that that's exactly what happened in the beginning, with no evidence!.

Why thank you. I've wanted to do it since I was a little kid but the WBTS and family convinced me not to go to college. I'm out and in school and love it. The would is sooo much more interesting when you know the details of how things work.

This entire post is why I am finishing up a biology degree and am going to teach high school science. There are a LOT of people who need a better understanding of science.
"Scientific method asserts" -Scientific Method does not assert anything, it is a METHOD.
"Nothing living can come from something non-living" -this is a biggie, you don’t understand what life is, that’s ok because science education is lacking. Nonliving matter is chemistry, living matter is chemistry. If scientists assert anything it is the logical assertion that the self-replicating organic chemistry which we call life came from less complex non-self-replicating chemistry at some point in the distant past. When you restate the assertion made by 'scientific method'(?) it would be "no complex self-replicating organic chemistry can come from less complex non-self-replicating chemistry. That’s a silly thing to say. I hope you're starting to see how silly the straw man you built looks.
"Science is observable" -ok
"Science is reproducible" -this is classically true, but then you get into things like is economics or political science a science. We can't very well rerun and election or a market crash. Some things by their nature happen only once. But I digress.
"A living thing coming from non-living matter has NEVER been observed nor reproduced." -strictly speaking every time you eat cornflakes, your turning nonliving matter into living matter but i get your meaning. If a scientist were to observe 'life coming from nonlife'(again just it's chemistry) it would take the same millions of years it did the first time. If they were to figure out the mechanism and reproduce life in a beaker, which they may at some point, creationists would howl saying "but you created it!!!".
"Therefore, it takes FAITH in an unknown process to believe that that's exactly what happened in the beginning, with NO EVIDENCE!" -I have to say I'm confused by this. I would say the answer is staring you in the face, but in this case literally go look in the mirror, the answer IS STARING YOU IN THE FACE. You are the evidence that complex self-replicating chemistry came from less complex non-self-replicating chemistry. The earth of filled to the brim with the evidence that this happened. If god did it from clay or it happened on its own has yet to be proven either way, but it happened and we're all proof, no faith needed.
"So please tell me in scientific evidence , how life originated. A simple clear concise answer." -I can't wait to hear the answer to. Nobel prize winning stuff you can be sure. I hope it one of my future students!
"1) And yes, I have studied abiogenesis" -don’t be offended but I'm skeptical of this.
"2) Please do not attack theistic beliefs. Lets stick to the question." -ok

Downloadable leaflet "Highlights From The Finished Mystery"
by cedars ini've just finished my fourth and final "under the microscope" series of articles in which (hopefully) i've debunked many of the arguments often put forward by those claiming that jehovah's witnesses must be god's sole channel of communication with mankind.. this latest article focusses mostly on "the finished mystery" and the many errors contained therein that prove it couldn't possibly have been approved by christ when he was ostenisbly selecting the bible students as his chosen earthly representatives in 1919. i would like to thank and acknowledge alfred as being a huge help in compiling a list of key "highlights" of the book that serve to expose it for what it really is - a total work of fiction and absurdity.. shortly before alfred left this forum, we discussed the possibility of using his list to produce a special leaflet that people could print out themselves and insert in their "revelation climax" books, or "revelation climax" books belonging to family members.
i'm delighted to announce (with my best sunday afternoon convention speaker voice!
) that this leaflet is now ready, and available for download on the links below:.

I'd skip my child's birth for a new episode of TNG. Not TOS though. Never cared for it.
