One of my grandparents walked on her knees to the Catholic Church till they bled...after baptisim as a JW she replaced it with 60 hrs of service every month.
i have been reading countless heartbreaking accounts on this site of children of jehovah's witnesses being "disfellowshipped" and shunned by entire families, their congregations, basicly everyone they have ever known for simply questioning their parent's religion!!.
some have been tossed out of family homes to live in cars!!!

Well I just checked the index of Confidential letters to Elders 1988-2011 and the 2010 Flock book. There has been NO Change in WTBTs procedure. Any baptised CHILD can be Disfellowshiped. EXCEPT in case of POSSIBLE LEGAL ACTION...in that case ALL Judicial ACTION is to STOP IMMEDIATLY and the Branch office is to be contacted. SO...friends, parents, Kids, do you get the hint?

i wonder how many posters here are not only in recovery from spiritual abuse (jws) , but other traumas,, such as sexual and physical abuse,,, or rape as a young person (ie, child or teen).. .
how many of us are recovering from double - or triple - trauma ... ?.

Soo sorry so many have undergone so much pain. Physical, sexual, and mental abuse wasn't uncommon in the "truth" and still is not.
Regarding the enemas, the "old timmer" JWs were taught Doctors didn't know much, and Russell had split off from the late 1800s Adventist Movements. Colonics were good for EVERYTHING. The Golden Age (Awake) had some wacky health hints every month. If you need a laugh, and want to try to reframe some childhood colonics, rent Mathew Broderick (Ferris Buellers day off) in "Road to Wellville" about the Adventist resort built by Kellog. You never think the same way about health food, OLD Time JWs, or Kellog's again.

Teary, Just like in the 60s with the KKK, it isn't always easy to serve papers on the KLAN. I think the Justice Department might like a complete package showing documents that 3 members of the "Governing Body" signed off on to deny civil rights to Childern, Seniors, Women. Possible RICO case.
It may not work, but I grin thinking about a few people getting their panties in a twist.

One thing that has DISTURBED me the most for years..is the "Operation of Holy Spirit" on appointments at Bethel.
The most inteligent, kind, zealous in the ministry Governing Body member I had ever gotten to know personally (out of about 7) was Ray Franz. Very open minded, and a deep thinker. Later when Ray disagreed with his CraZy uncle "1975 Fred" and a few others on some dogma (and agreed with some old Russel beliefs) he was labeled "A mentally diseased apostate".!!?? This label was by some other Governing Body members who I knew to have some strange issues the "Holy Spirit" had chosen to ignore...like "Confused sexuality" with preferance for little boys and big boys. Another who held bile class in the sauna "with the boys". A couple of other Governing Body members I knew displayed fits of anger, and publicly demeaned their wives.
Hummm that "Holy Spirit" appointing Governing Body members seemed a little "Confused" to me..........
Almost seemed like when it choose Rutherford over Mc Millian.......

I almost forgot about the two local Elders in an adjoining congregation who convinced a couple of JW Kids who worked at Block Buster (Video Rentals) to Check the store computer to see if any Local JWs had rented "R" or "X" Movies! I was flabbergasted when I heard about it.

LOL!! The New 2/15 INTERNAL STUDY ISSUE of the WATCHTOWER is online today. To be considered by all 7million JWs in April. I will allow the WT GOVERNING BODY to Have the FINAL WORD on "Ratting out" fellow JWs, Confidential records, and spying. "Res IPSA LOQUITUR" the thing speaks for itself......

How she was blessed for her faith and courage!, Sisera himself sought refuge in the tent of Jael, but she killed him while he slept….“the beautifying thing” of this victory went to the woman Jael. Because Deborah, Barak, and Jael acted courageously, Israel “had no further disturbance for forty years. Many godly men and women have displayed similar faith and courage.

(Gal.5:19-23) …. so today any corrupting influence must be kept out of the congregation... What can you do to contribute to the congregation’s peace?....when serious sin has been committed, those Scripturally obligated to handle the matter—the elders in the congregation—should be informed. (Read Leviticus 5:1.) Yes, preserving the spirit of the congregation requires that each of us take proper action, cooperate with the body of elders, and protect the welfare of fellow believers.

Disturbing; "Another case was from a neighboring hall that a close elder friend confided in me on, since his conscience was justifiably stricken. There was a baptized boy 16 years old who confessed to "immorality" with an unbaptized, "interested" person who was active at the meetings. She was 22! A judicial committee being formed on what is legally statuatory rape is unthinkable, but he was disfellowshipped. Not a thing happened with the woman."
A similar situation occured in a west coast Kingdom Hall involving an Elder and a 16 year old boy he had studied with. For years, a number of boys had complained about a popular affluent (Married) Elder who owned a sporting goods store "Touching them" and "leering". The local Elders warned these boys to "not speak injurously of Glorious ones" and "Older Men". The teenaged boys were labled as "rebellious" for gossiping about "a spirit annointed elder". EVENTUALLY it came out this "Spirit annointed Elder" was a Pedophile. However one of his last victims was disfellowshipped as well! A 16 year old for "Homosexuality". The reason given by that body..????? "He should of Known better"..he was 16.!!!!! What about that body knowing better and ignoring complaints for years???
