It appears that I am being hunted down (visited by two elders)
by maninthemiddle inrecently two elders caught my wife at the door while i was away.
they mentioned the need to talk to me about something on facebook.
yes, i know how facebook can be, but i choose to use it anyway.. the strange thing is, i just spent a alot of time looking at it, and nothing is publicly available, so unless a one spouse of an inactive jw is looking at it, i don't see how they were able to get this information.. anyway, that wasn't my real question.. i haven't been to any kh in over 2 years, i haven't seen the elder (24 year old) in about two years and don't even know the other (he is recently out of bethel, but older 50ish?)..

Running a JW website without getting sued
by ekruks inhi guys, i want to setup a unique ex-jw/cult site, and i am wondering how you run this site without getting sued?
last thing i want is to have the stress of a court case that the jw volunteer-lawyers likely will win.
i'd like to keep a rather low profile.

Check some scammer sites and see who does the web work :)
I believe some use sites in favorable countries. I believe the Japanese and the Dutch have better privacy laws. Not all countries belong to the Hague convention for lawsuits. Google it.

Sorry What Now,
But "I'm thinking something "big" as in one of the Governing Body being caught in a major scandal, the 1914 date being done away with completely, etc"
That already happened with Russel, Rutherford, Fred Franz, Chitty, and Greenlees, (sp). Ray Franz wrote THE book and few read it.
Lots of major scandals. If you have any old timmers around, just ply 'em with some expensive booze and ask them about Rutherford. Everyone has a story...especially the sisters..yet they stayed.
The other comments about LOTS of crazy religions is so true..they are all still around. People are people and have a spriritual need and a need to "Belong" and "Join". Had Ray Franz of started a kinder, more "Christian" group in the 80s "Reformed JWs" I think A LOT would have joined that as an alternative.
The intrest alone from just the 2 BILLION Brooklyn DOLLARS will keep an ever changing governing body snug and warm pouring Koolaid indefinately on the upstate compound.
The most we can hope for is some fellowship/online therapy here for recovering Cult members, and an up to date intelligence clearinghouse to prevent the worst cult abuses of innocents.

Some of these strange cases of Disfellowshipping and abuse just so egregious. In many cases the victims do not realize some states re-start the clock for lawsuits when the child becomes an adult.
Most of these deeply scarred victims have left the Borg as adults. Perhaps they could help others by comming forward with complaints.

Lawyers: Can a Jehovah's Witness sue the Watchtower Society for Civil Rights violations?
by Balaamsass ini have been on boards and run businesses, and been reminded by more than one cpa and attorney to cross ts and dot i s regarding corporate requirements or we would become liable to lawsuits.. therefore, my questions to any attorneys and cpas, and the keen minds on this board, are the following;.
i have been reading old threads on this site about watchtower society irregularities regarding tax filings with state and federal agencies.
evidently, a number of filings for different years were identical (unlikely if not impossible) or missing.

Besides religious exemptions, one couldn't use the Commerce Clause in reference to the above because they are not constitutionally protected civil rights.
This stuff started crawling around in my mind after watching a documentary on the History Channel or National Geographic. The Southern Poverty Law center took on some Anti-Clan litigation on behalf of victims and WON in THE SOUTH. I remember old prosecutions by Justice where Klan violence were prosecuted as civil rights violations as a last resort. The Clan was a non- profit group with assets I believe, and almost a religion.
The victims were denied LIFE, LIBERTY and Happyness. I was wondering if a case could be made ESPECIALLY for child victims. They are unable to "CHOOSE" the JW lifestyle. They are minors and really don't have free will. They are fully dependent on adults. Unable to enter into a contract. Data shows that at least in the US the MAJORITY choose to leave WTBTS. (PEW Stats).
Here is a recent Southern Poverty Case I googled,
Kentucky Court Upholds SPLC Victory Against Notorious Klan Leader
An appellate court in Kentucky has upheld the SPLC’s $1.3 million verdict against a Klan leader at the center of a large network of neo-Nazis, racist skinheads and other violent white supremacists.
“This case sends a message to the hatemongers of the world that they can’t unleash dangerous people upon the public and then pretend they are not responsible for the consequences,” said SPLC President Richard Cohen. “It really comes down to the biblical principle of you reap what you sow. That is the message of the ruling.”
The jury award against Ron Edwards, formerly head of the Imperial Klans of America, was part of a larger $2.5 million verdict against both Edwards and one of his chief Klan lieutenants, Jarred Hensley. Edwards appealed his share of the verdict.
The Kentucky Court of Appeals affirmed the November 2008 verdict on Oct. 14.
The case was filed on behalf of Jordan Gruver, who was brutally beaten by Klansmen on an IKA recruiting mission at a county fair in Brandenburg, Ky., in July 2006. Gruver is a U.S. citizen of Panamanian-Indian descent, but the Klansmen who beat him called him an “illegal spic.”
“Ron Edwards knew that these members had obvious, dangerous tendencies,” Cohen said. “Some of them were violent criminals; one had just gotten out of prison. Yet he sent them out into the public to recruit for his organization.”

I am confused Justitia,
When I have served on Non-profit boards It was stressed to us how important to maintain all the tax filings so the "Veil" would not be pierced and we became personally liable for Non-profit bills or other liability issues. Same with the business.
The WTBTS has gone to a LOT of EFFORT to form new multiple coorporations. Why?
