i posted this on another thread and am pasting it here to start a new one because i would be interested in getting others' thoughts on it.. there has been a downward spiral in the quality of the written publications since the death of fred franz in december 1992. whatever else can be said about franz, the man did have some education and his writing was of good quality.
others in the writing department also had some skill and command of language that gave cogency to their work.
but since franz's death, a huge leadership vacuum has opened in the wts.

I think you would be getting more search hits. For some reason right after Candice's case WTBTS Official sites and press releases started ranking much higher in search results. ...hummmm.. It certainly is not content. Do you think they are paying Google Big bucks $$ for ad words?

one can only imagine the kind of dirt that's been concealed behind those gb sessions since the 1980's.. what are your thoughts?.
I liked Ray. He was a considerate thinking man and a true believer in God, he really wondered what Jehovah would want.He was hospitable to average Bethelites ...like me. He treated his wife with kindness and consideration. He fought for a while, tried to reform, gave up..then tried to fade..they would not let him..and they reaped the results. I wish he had stuck to his guns and actually changed the place, or tore it down while a GB member. In the end...he was just a man.
They made certain to "buy off" Chitty and Greenleaves. No repeats of Ray- no publicity- no mention of their "hobbies".
I do not know any of this group of GB personally, so I have no opinion.
BUT.... I KNOW some in the legal department are sickened by what they have seen. HOWEVER if they go public..they will be disbarred...WTBTS is the "Client". Some speak quiety and go softly into the night. They do lurk here. Many have joined the Legal Department as "True Believers", unlike most JWs they have been educated to THINK, they understand US law and.... MOSAIC and Christian legal concepts. (Can you imagine what is going through the mind of an educated idealist SISTER in the legal Department when she has to take crap during a depo from a high school drop-out elder?) I know some were working for change behind the scenes, but power corrupts. Will change happen, I doubt it. Will someone else write like Ray, I doubt it. Will more leave and perhaps post some juicy tidbits here......perhaps...but it would cost them a career.....so I doubt it. They will fade...... perhaps throw a case or two.........an ending like in the movie "The Firm" would be too much to dream..... :) Only time will tell.
ok where i live in the pacific northwest in january of this year this elder from the hall called a special meeting and gave everyone some papers that he had gotten from some government place on what to put in an emergency bag to grab in case you have to flee your home in seconds.
i thought it was just my husbands hall being all strange and stupid over this.
one older sister said that the elder told everyone they needed three bottles of water for 14 days that is 42 bottles of water plus whatever other stuff they put in there not sure if she got that right because 42 bottles of water is a lot of weight.
I grew up close to a major fault. WE ALWAYS kept two weeks water and food. I remember a few crazy talk outlines from the early 70s. Reversible jackets. Hiding lit. ect. My mother used to say if we could prepare for armagedon, then how would that show Gods power to protect his people? Perhaps after all the horn blowing about how WTBTS HELPED members during disasters and the "fund raising" to do so in the 90s, the total let downs and screw ups of helping Katrina victims was pie in the face of the GB. Now if someone dies of dehydration or starvation it will be "because they did not obey the Governing Body". Off the hook! And as many have pointed out..the BIG SCARE tactic works!

The Mrs and I LOVE to check out those Pew numbers for ourselves. Just spend an evening looking up your peers children and grandchildren on facebook. Check relationships...and Religion- an amazing number of Buddists!! Must be the "be nice don't hit" credo- such a change after being raised a JW.

Play with the dog and go for a walk. Tried therapy...just seemed to dig up old Sh#!#!that it was to late to do much about. Decided to leave some of that old baggage behind- Try...I am on here aren't I ??????? :)
if so, and it's the type that requires you to switch to 4wd, how often do you use that capability?
i know more than a few people with 4wd capability but never use it.
a couple of these folks don't even know what it's for.
We have had a variety of 4wd vehicles and sedans. Jeep, Titan, Subaru, Navigator, Suburban, Ford Trucks, Samurai. I had a jeep for a few years I used for work....it was great fun on dirt roads in the mountains and in the desert. I miss it. The most important thing was the extra ground clearance for crossing creeks, heavy snows, and rutted dirt roads. We had a Subaru Forester for a couple of years..I was impressed it could ALMOST do 90% of what the stock jeep could do with 2xs the gas mileage.Seemed very well built. We actually travel more when we own a COMFORTABLE vehicle that gets great gas mileage. When the weather is bad I do web work.

she won but was burdened with heavy legal costs.
I have heard some rumblings in California among elders. The Fremont elders are terrified that the three of them have to come up with 300,000+ each. Perhaps elders will think before they blindly follow WTBTS legal department BS.!!
