Did they also mention how they demand insurance checks in exchange for rebuilding ypur house after a natural disaster? Non-jedubs can also get their houses rebuilt as long as they give up their insurance checks.

Withdrawing community support in the congs
by purrpurr ini've noticed in the past 10 years that the social support that used to be available in the congs, a shoulder to cry on, elders to help with family/marriage issues these seem to have been purposely withdrawn.
counsel is even heard from the platform that the elders are not there to help people with their problems.. so first in the 80s-90s they take away the congregation get to getters and social events and now they seem to be going one step further in taking away the emotional support for people too.. this will take away an aspect that i'm sure was keeping alot of people in the borg, the community support.
if that's not there and its just about meetings and ministry how many will start to get their emotional support elsewhere?.

Personal experience, one of the first things I learned as a new witness many, many years ago is that you're on your own emotionally. It didn't really bother me until I got separated from my husband. People avoided me like I was diseased or something. The elders didn't talk to me until a month later. They also didn't care much for me even though I was going through the worst crisis of my life. Going to the meetings just made it worse. So much shaming. It was brutal and made me question everything. My so called friends who were pioneers married to elders avoided me.
Elders in some congregations specifically tell married couples in trouble that they are not counselors nor therapists. Their focus is helping the "sheep" spiritually not emotionally.
When I was going through my ordeal in my marriage the only advuce I got was pray, go to meetings, keep going in service and read the organization's literature on marriage and divorce. It was a joke!

Do any of the 144,000 in heaven take part in the destruction at Armageddon?
by Bonnie_Clyde ini wondered about that when i heard garret loesch state that shortly before the tribulation the governing body would be taken up.
.
if this is the case, it seems like garret and the other seven would be there just in time to help out in the killing of billions.. i thought they used to say that some would survive armageddon before they were taken up..

That's exactly what they have been teaching for a long time. The 144k will be in heaven and start armageddon with Jesus.

Jesus—a real, historical person
by Ireneus injesus was a real and historical person (not the way jws or the rest of the people think him to be) because of the following historical facts:.
1) the fact that the most influential political establishment of that time (roman empire) was convinced that jesus’ name would sell to suit their political agenda (to promote slavery) shows that jesus was as historical as roman empire itself; hence they implanted slavery-friendly verses into the bible as though spoken by jesus (such as mathew 5:39, 41; 24:45 ..etc) this was in contrast to the real personality jesus really was—he was a man of courage, who ‘walked alone to do what is right if those invited refused to accompany him.’ when his family and disciples were fond of sleeping, his delight was to spend early morning hours alone, in meditation, with god to the extent he could say he was “one” with qualities of god.
(mark 1:35; john 8:1, 2; 10:30) such a person would naturally be too famous and too crowd-pulling against whom even the influential people were helpless even when they were whipped out of the temple which reminds us of “hollywood rambo style” merely because of his moral authority (not that he had any supernatural powers to perform miracles).. 2) similarly, emerging religion (apostate christianity) too knew they could misuse the name of jesus to serve its commercial agenda.

I sometimes wonder what the world would be like if "Religion" had never reared it`s head.?
by smiddy3 incan you imagine what the world of mankind would be like if their was never any concept of a god or religious beliefs ?.

Religious organizations, maybe. But not without religious or spiritual beliefs. There are too many unexplained things that happen on this earth that can only be explained by spiritual beliefs.
Like tiki said, some people feel it more strongly and that is very true.

Since waking up I can't help but look at the future in a different way. While I was working I felt it was ridiculous for me to start a 401k because I thought for sure the end would come before I retired. But now, I'm a stay at home mom with very small children and it bothers me that I have done nothing to prepare for the future. I was thinking of getting a Roth IRA since my husband works I can do that. What have uou guys done?
I still have about 20 years to save up for retirement. One of the things I want to do is go back to work when my youngest starts school and save up that way. I just want to start now.
