TimeBandit:
I'm very interested to see what your signs say. This sounds interesting.
last thanksgiving i was down in southern new mexico visiting my in-law's.
while i was there, i ran off some jws (i used to attend their congregation) that were attempting to call on my sister in law.
i had also posted anti jw signs all over town and in front of the kh.

we all know the watchtower organization is now in a defensive mode.
unrelenting criticism and critical information is rapidly coming forward exposing this esoteric cult.. are their hundreds of bethelites now understanding how evil their "faithfull slave" really is?
has the revolution begun?.
Whatever their sentence would be, it would be reduced to 2 years. Just like in 1919.
i'm not sure if any of you will remember but i posted on here six months ago about a correspondence i was having with my dad, an elder, about who would die in armageddon.
i was asking some tough questions about children being killed in armageddon and i could tell he uncomfortable with the answers he was giving.. i drafted an email in resposne to his email but in the end i decided not to send it in the interest of maintaining friendly relations.. .
last week, out of the blue, my dad sent an email link to the february 2012 watchtower article about armageddon and said it would answer some of my questions.. here is my response which is a critique of the feb 2012 wt article and some of the broader ethics concerning 'armageddon'.
"As for God having done it in the past. On the occasion of the flood he used a natural disaster but offered protection for anyone who wanted it in the ark. He had to destroy that world at the time because of the violent and cruel halfbreed giants and their demon fathers." - tornapart
Why not just kill the half-breed giants?
Why use a flood? The Bible records that one angel killed an entire army in their sleep.
Jesus also said that the last days would be just like the days of Noah.
In addition, the modern day Noah's Ark is the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

On a side note:
Jehovah, god of Abraham and Isaac, pledged to rid the earth of wickedness.
Thor, god of thunder, pledged to rid the earth of frost giants.
When was the last time you saw a frost giant?

Jehovah destroyed the entire surface of the earth with a great flood and only spared the lives of 8 humans...allegedly. Why not destroy billions of "wicked" people, including their babies, to settle a bet with an angel? He did it once. Anything done once is possible to repeat. That is if it ever really happened.
can you personally think of any pros of being a jws?
anything that you have experienced that was and still is beneficial to you now from when u were a jw?.
Ignorance is bliss.
Life is always easier when someone else makes all your decisions for you.
If you are an uneducated bafoon you'll fit right in.
You don't need pay for medication or treatment for mental illness. It's just the demons messing with you.
You don't need to pay for marriage counselling. Window washers and janitors called "elders" will do it for free.
A summer vacation is planned for you every year. It's called a "District Convention". You just have to find a way to pay for it.
You get to visit a lot of coffee shops and garage sales while trying to sell the Watch Tower band in field service.
you know when they refuse to attend family functions that invole anything religous, won't chink glasses, won't allow their children any freedom etc.
.
from their perspective they think they are setting "a fine example" and givng a "good witness" the outsiders just think they are bat crazy but the jw's just can't see it???
Since the days of Charles T. Russell and especially with Rutherford, the Watch Tower Society promotes ways to go to extreme lengths to be different. The reason giving usually has to do with Jesus' saying that he was no part of "the world" and neither are his people. The reality is that it is nothing more than a marketting tool.
Humans are naturally curious. When someone is acting different people want to know why. So, when someone asks one of Jehovah's Witnesses why they refuse to participate in [insert normal, accepted activity here] the Witness is given a pass to repeat their doctrine in hopes to convert you.
This brings up another related point. Why is it that the difference is always negative? That is to say, the difference in Witnesses is a refusal to do something. It's never a matter of something that they do.
Witnesses may respond: "That's not true. We are the only one's involved in a worldwide preaching work."
My response is, "Wrong!"
I get more Baptists knocking on my door wanting to talk about the Bible than I do Jehovah's Witnesses.
yes a brother was interrigated by the s.s elders in a local ethnic cong.
for getting arrested while driving under the influence of alcohol....to save his privleges he says that he had no alcohol at all, but did drink from an old bottle of coke which must have "fermented" into alcohol in his stomach...... maybe one of the best bullcrap stories i ever heard.....we need more honest elders like him in jehovahs "clean organisation..
I spend almost every Monday in jury trial on a Driving While Intoxicated case. The BS factor in this claim is off the chart. Generally a person will not show horizontal gaze nystagmus in their eyes until they are a .08 BAC.
a few comments from muddy waters and mummatron on another thread peaked my curiosity and led me to revisit some of the illustrations in the my book of bible stories.
i don't appear to have my old copy from when i was a child (thankfully), so i checked out the images over on watchtower.org where the entire book can be read online.
the images below are taken from what is displayed on that website, although it wouldn't surprise me if there are equally awful images that haven't been used.. so which of the images below are the most grotesque and inappropriate for children?
I remember my father throwing out my comic books because they portrayed violence and demonic images. Even at that early age I saw it as the pot calling the kettle black.
for those who feel yhwh is good, is his commanding his chosen people to kill the children of other tribes morally equal to or very close to morally equal to (i.e.
just as bad as) molech commanding his people to kill their children?
yes or no?
If YHWH commands it then it's righteous. That is the standard Jehovah's Witnesses excuse for the hypocrisy.
Why was it ok to for Israelites to participate in warfare on behalf of the nation of Israel against other nations, but Jehovah's Witnesses are forbidden from military service? JW answer: "Well, that was righteous warfare commanded by Jehovah."
How many times does the Watch Tower use the Old Testament Mosiac Law to condemn something, but at the same time state that we are no longer held to that law due to Jesus new covenant? Jehovah says if someone enters your tent during the night time and you kill the intruder it's ok, but you're blood guilty if you kill someone to protect yourself or any other innocent. I'm confused.
