I think the video will strengthen the resolve of some of the younger born-ins to leave when they can. I was born-in and I had several of my own experiences which mirror poor Caleb's. The worst was when I was 13. At that age I new it was all BS. It took me about 17 more years to finally pull the pin, but I did it.

How an original STAR TREK episode nearly cost me my first JW marriage in its first year...true story I find funny/sad
by oompa inso i'm 21, just married, and raised in my fathers image and thank god he liked sci-fi...a genre i was able to escape to new worlds in.
he even took me to a trekkie covention when i was albout 12 at the greensboro coliseum and it was packed.
we had watched every episode over and over...i thought.

Oompa: You don't have to refer to it as "TOS". There is only one true Trek. Often simulated, but never duplicated.
I remember ditching field service to go to a Trek Convention. The meeting for field service was at my nextdoor neighbor's house. I walked out in full costume and makeup as the group was leaving for the territory.

Did you used to be an assembly food rapist?
by yourmomma ini confess proudly that i was one of the biggest assembly food rapists when it switched to the donation arrangement.
in fact, i would roll up to the counter with a fake list and pretend i was getting food for a huge family, lol.
"uh, yes, hello sister, what a fine morning program that was, may i please have 6 roast beef sandwhiches, 6 chocolate puddings, 6 apple danishes, 6 sodas....etc" and i would eat throughout the entire fking program, as it was so boring there was nothing else to do.

"...one of those 30 weight oil pasta salads."
I remember the 1990 District Convention. The first day of the program my dad went to get lunch for my whole family. When he came back all he had was 5 of those nasty pasta salads. He said everything else was gone because not enough food was ordered.
After that my mom just packed us lunches.

The BRAND is what sells JW's and the alternate lifestyle
by Terry injehovah's witnesses don't have a message.
they have an alternate lifestyle.. for persons put off by teachings of eternal torment they offer eternal sleep or a paradise earth.. for christians disaffected by tepid sermons and rituals they offer a vital lifesaving field service ministry.. in a world saturated in sex and exhibitionism, loud rude music and apathy they offer modesty of dress, cleanliness and worldwide family.. they are seen by the world much the same way as the amish only more modern.. people find their teaching quaint or laughable but think they are sincere and eager for postive change.. .
this is a brand more than a religion.. when the average person looks at jw's they see loyalty.

The brand is "The Truth tm ". How many times have we read published experiences of non-born ins state,"Thats when I knew this was the truth"?
However, the lifestyle is often presented as evidence of JWs being the only true religion.

No Baptism For Military - but How About Law Officers?
by Vanderhoven7 indoes the wts sanction baptism of gun carrying law officers?.
does being a cop or prison guard or any other occupation requiring the carrying of a weapon.
disqualify a person from personal dedication to jehovah according to the fds?.

About 30 years ago the WTB&TS took a hardline stance against members who held a job that required them to carry a weapon for the purpose of protecting themselves or others (I guess a gun carrying dog catch would be ok). The bottomline was any member who held such a job had 6 months to quit or they could not have any privileges in the congregation. As such, I do not believe it would prevent a person from being baptised, but once baptised they would not be able to do anything above field service and commenting at meetings.
The reasoning behind this was that it would put a person in a position that they might become "blood guilty". Remember, the WTB&TS does not differentiate between killing and murder. Even though the Bible specifically gives clearance from Jehovah to kill people to protect people and property.
I have an older cousin who spoke of a Witness in his congregation that was a police officer. He said this Witness was a very spiritual person, but would rather be a police officer than carry microphones at the meetings or be a Ministerial Servant. As a former Witness, former Ministerial Servant, and a 13 year law enforcement veteran, I don't blame him.
I also know of a man who was a sergeant at a sheriff's office whose wife and kids were all witnesses. He studied and got baptised. He didn't quit his job. He just voluntarily took a desk job inside the jail where weapons are prohibitted by policy.
In the police academy, during the deadly force instruction, our instructor handed out copies of Romans 13:1-7 from 4 different translations of the Bible. He said he went to the clergy of 3 different denominations of churches in his area and asked about those scriptures. He mentioned that as soon as he gave the passage the clergyman would all immediately say, "Oh, the police officer verse."

Romans 13:1-7
New International Version (NIV)
Submission to Governing Authorities
13 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. 4 For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.
6 This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. 7 Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
The police are "God's servants" and when they use their "sword" they are doing the will of God.

"Safe Guard Your Heart"? It sounds more like "Stop Thinking for Yourself and Deny Yourself all Joy in Life in the Name of the Watch Tower Society."
Notice, the program is brought to us by the "Governing Body".

Pitiful, Pitiful, PiteeeFULL
by TOTH inso the hounder hounder co was in town for his bean counting mission and he was invited to pay my ill father in law a visit.
just like every other time he comes since father in law never attends anymore because of his failing health but this time he is a little judgmental.

TOTH:
I used to attend my CA at Yuba City. Small world.
I remember a CO who was nicknamed "The Terminator". He told the BOE that an elder or a MS who said the word crap should be removed. We said, "That is c-rap (pronounced "see-rap").
