I had an elder's wife once tell me that the t-rex used its teeth to rip bark off of trees it ate.

Animals, Blood, Food, and JW Beliefs
by dubstepped ini'm just thinking aloud here.
i watched a show yesterday and they were talking about how the largest mammals of the sea (whales) fed on such small creatures (plankton) rather than eating some other large creatures.
anyway, it got me thinking about how as jws we thought that in paradise animals would all be herbivores, that they would no longer eat other animals.

I remember being in high school when the first Gulf War started. I was sitting at the dinner table with my family and my dad told us that Armageddon was about to begin. A year later I graduated from high school.
Now, my oldest graduated high school 5 years ago. My next son is in high school.
Where's Armageddon?

Proof they are not a cult??
by lriddle80 inthe following is from a facebook post and..maybe i am missing something, but none of these items disprove them being in a cult.
jehovah's witnesses are often mistaken to be something else.
some say it a secret cult while others believe something else.......i'm very proud to tell you my readers that i'm one of jehovah's witnesses.. below are 17 facts that shows jehovah's witness is not a cult..... 1. there are currently about 8 million jehovah's witnesses around the world.. 2. an average of over 800 people become jehovah's witnesses daily.. 3. we keep coming to your doors even though we have regular jobs and family like you because we are admonished to do so by jesus christ.. 4. we do not participate in wars and for this reason more than 1600 jehovah's witnesses were killed by hitler.. 5. there are currently over 300 jehovah's witnesses in prison in south korea and egypt because they refused to stop preaching or enlist in the military.. 6. we don't salute the flag or say national anthems because we pledge our allegiance only to god.. 7. yes we have fun and party too so don't get that twisted.. 8. not many of us know the name of the president of our headquarters because we do not pay any reference to him he is a fellow servant of god just like the rest of us are.. 9. you earn the privilege of becoming a jehovah's witness.

It happens more than you know. I can't tell you how many Witnesses I have arrested for serious felony offenses, mostly for child molestation or child abuse.

I love how at the end they say they are doing a "warning work" to educate the public about what will happen if you join and then decide to leave. I also think it's great that they have professionally produced printed materials. They could set up a cart next to the Watchtower cart.

Why more highly educated people are less into conspiracy theories
by Mickey mouse ini've seen discussions here about how jehovah's witnesses seem to be prone to believing conspiracy theories... https://digest.bps.org.uk/2017/04/05/why-more-highly-educated-people-are-less-into-conspiracy-theories/.
this last paragraph seems particularly relevant:.
importantly, van prooijen said his findings help make sense of why education can contribute to “a less paranoid society” even when conspiracy theories are not explicitly challenged.

I have 2 college degrees. The argument is invalid.
"Educated"
Most conspiracy theories involve governments. Governments control education systems.
Sure, there are some downright silly conspiracy theories out there. However, not all of them are.

WT about elder positions
by Gorbatchov inyesterday, visited the hall for family reasons.. wt was about elder positions, educate younger brothers, delegate your work etc.
the usual story about the body of elders, give younger people a change and don't get atached to your position.
what was evident: 90 percent of the answers came from the sisters.. the elders looked like the house cat just eaten tweety.. never heared so much theory and knowing it will be fully ignored.. why make it a 45 minute issue for every tom, dick and harry?.

The fact that this current generation does not want to make unnecessary sacrifice may very well be the final nail in the coffin. Here are two of the biggest factors effecting the organization in the U.S. -
1) Nobody really believes the end is near. Overlapping Generations is the 1975 of the late 20th century/early 21st century. In fact, it is much worse than 1975. This doctrine basically means that the end may never come in this century either.
2) Generation Y or "Millennials" have a much different value system than Generation X and Baby Boomers. Generation Y seeks balance between work and play. Jehovah's Witnesses teach that one should sacrifice satisfying all desires of today for a future that may never come in your lifetime. That is in direct contrast of value system in the new generation.
There will always be those uber-dubs that will qualify to be Ministerial Servants and Elders, but the organization is losing them at a higher rate than appointing them.

Your reward for being competent with "privileges"(i.e. work) is more "privileges."
I served faithfully from the age of 19 to 26 as a Ministerial Servant. I had every privilege that could be given to a brother who is not an elder.
When I moved I remember being asked: "How are you being used in your new congregation?" Used. Used is a great term. That's exactly how I felt. I felt that when the organization was done with me they crushed me like an empty beer can and threw me over their collective shoulder.
I have no doubt that the current generation wants nothing to do with "privileges". They seek balance between work and leisure. Being a Witness is about giving up your ability to find joy in life for a make believe life in a new world.

Jehovah allowing this Russia to happen?
by pontoon inso the brother that works in my office was talking about this russia thing, how jeh is "allowing" it to happen, how every witness is writing a letter to all six officials and not just to two or three, so my question was if that is true "aren't all you witnesses working against jehovah---he must have his reasons for allowing it to happen.
back to work but i'm sure monday he'll have an answer like what a great witness it is or how it gives every other witness a chance to demonstrate their faith (by writing letters).
i'll have an answer ready for him just for fun.. i'm sure watchtower just loves stuff like this russia business.

You should have asked:
"When the first century Christians were being persecuted by the Roman government, did they write letters to the Roman Emperor? What's next - asking the brothers to vote for politicians who favor the organization?"
