I still feel the need to worship and the desire for faith, but having been raised as a JW and not knowing anything else, I just feel confused and lost as far as faith goes. Sometimes I think that maybe their isn't a God, I just don't know.....

RIP - The last good JW I knew
by metaspy ini just received an email.. the last jw that i absolutely loved died yesterday.. he was funny, loving, kind, smart and quirky.. when he was the tms overseer, if you did a substitute talk he would say "i'm going to put a 'g' under point number 99: suave, sophisticated and debonair" (that was back when we got graded).. and, he was very intelligent - we played trivial pursuit (his favorite game) - he got all the pieces, except sports, on his first turn.
he never watched sports so he never knew the answers.. rest in peace - i hope that god allows you into heaven even though you were part of an evil cult.

I'm sorry for your loss and all I know is that if God exists (I'm still searching) he's definitely reading this man's heart and will show great kindness to him

I didn't know that, thanks! Kinda weird looking at the pics on that site. It was like the assemblies I always went to, but not quite.

Yeah it's weird that JWs try to deny this. It shows in the Proclaimers group about splinter groups. I went to the website of the "true jw" and the beliefs look pretty much the same. Do you know what the differences are?

Really stupid comment from an elder (and he was completely serious!)
by freshstart inmy husband and this elder in our old congregation used to trade dvds and such, just letting each other borrow them.
they would always return them to each other in a timely manner, no big deal.
well in 2005 they had traded some and about a week after that, a terrible natural disaster hit our area and everyone was displaced and it was a few months before things got settled back down again.

About the highlighter thing....the "reasoning" on that one was that others would get stumbled if they couldn't see our answers highlighted from where they were sitting. They might think we didn't study so using a pencil to mark was a no-no.

No this elder is the real hard-nose type. I waited for him to laugh or even crack a smile, but nothing. He's the kind that gets all bent out of shape if you underline your answers in pencil instead of highlighter (not joking!) He even called and hounded us until we gave them back. Craziness.

My husband and this elder in our old congregation used to trade DVDs and such, just letting each other borrow them. They would always return them to each other in a timely manner, no big deal. Well in 2005 they had traded some and about a week after that, a terrible natural disaster hit our area and everyone was displaced and it was a few months before things got settled back down again. I ran into this elder when we finally made it back home and he said "Your husband needs to give my DVDs back! Not returning them could cost him his life at Armaggedon!" Um...what the hell? Instead of asking us if we were ok and how we were doing since the natural disaster, he's worried about his damn DVDs. I guess we shouldn't have let a little thing like being displaced stop us from returning his precious treasures sooner.

"Feeling sorry for yourself" about being hit by your husband is not Christian 2/15/12 WT Page 25 P 12
by yourmomma inhave anyone of you read, the absolutly jaw dropping paragraph in this article about a women who was hit by her husband?
its in page 25 of the 2/15/12 wt study edition (i read the dumbed down version).. .
if there was any question, that the watchtowers stance is for wives to simply take it when their husbands abuse them, this makes it crystal clear.. who the hell is scanning these things before they go to print?

I haven't been to a meeting in 2 years, but I am SOOOO tempted to go to that one and give a nice long comment about the blatent disregard for the victims!! I still technically have commenting "privileges"

"You have instant friends wherever you go"
by AwSnap inremember hearing that at the meetings?
i find it ironic that the same can be said for ex-jw's.

I do remember....unfortunately it wasn't always true. You have to be part of their club sometimes, and if you're not, no friends for you!
