I_drank_the_wine: Kinda harsh man. I was having a moment of emotional weakness and you're coming down on me like I'm running right back to the cult. All I said was that I was battling with some nostalgia, but if read my subsequent post, you will clearly see that I've reminded myself of the reasons we left. Check out some of my first threads as well to familiarize yourself with my situation. You might want to consider easing up on the pedal.

Why the hell do I feel like this suddenly?!?!
by freshstart intoday i saw a friend that is still a hardcore jw.
she knows we're not going to meetings, but seemed pretty cool with it and was willing to have lunch with me, so i thought why not?
she mentioned something about the convention coming up in a couple of weeks, and all of the sudden i got so nostalgic and felt like maybe i wanted to go.

Cofty, that's beautiful. I guess I do in some ways desire the familiarity of people that I grew up with. There were a few that I was really close with and I want to see them, but at the same time I know it won't be exactly the same because they know we're inactive and they look at us with a degree of pity that really annoys my husband and I. It's a tough situation really, this emotional tug-of-war. As for doctrine, yeah I know it's a load of crap, but my weakness is my sentimentality.

AGuest, you're right about those feelings. I've had to remind myself all afternoon of the shit that happened to drive us out in the first place.

Thanks everyone. Although I must say that I've read mankelli's thread and I really wish he would just shut his hole and stop jacking everyone else's threads.

Today I saw a friend that is still a hardcore JW. She knows we're not going to meetings, but seemed pretty cool with it and was willing to have lunch with me, so I thought why not? She mentioned something about the convention coming up in a couple of weeks, and all of the sudden I got SO nostalgic and felt like maybe I wanted to go. WTF?! We haven't been active for 2 years and it scares the hell out of me that I suddenly have a weakness to want to go to the convention? I know that Witnesses aren't "the only true religion" so why do I feel like this? I'm scaring myself!

todays WT study...the picture...?
by stillin ini wish i could scan it and get your thoughts.
it was a picture of a happy group of witnesses during a meeting for field service.
there was a. comment from a local high-horse-rider about a brother in the front row in the picture being disobedient.

The look in his face?! He looks pretty damn interested and attentive to me, even downright happy to be there. What a load of horse poo! Not to mention the fact that you can't even see his other hand, which may very well hold the propaganda literature.

The pedophile database
by JRK ini know that years ago there were 23,700+ pedophiles listed in a database in brooklyn by the society.
it has to be many more by now.. do you think there will ever be a defector in the watchtower it department that will release it to the media?
do you think that someone will hack it and release the information?

I wouldn't think that Sarbanes-Oxley would apply since it is legislation dealing with financial accountability.

I think we all have field service PTSD. I hated it with a passion (even though I was the wife of a MS and had to maintain a certain front so as not to discourage others ). Thank god we're free from that!!!
