Did you/Do you actually LIKE Field Service?
by LovesDubs ingod i hated it..every living breathing minute of it.
it was pure hell for me, and based on the pace i see the jws all over the world moving, they aint so fond of it neither.
the persecution that the jws feel they get is from irritated householders who know nothing about their religion except that they hit people over the head with it and then judge them because they dont like being hit over the head with it.

I can't remember, not one time, in my 40 years of going in field service (I was dragged from birth) did I EVER enjoy going out in service. Saturday morning was pure hell being dragged out of bed to go out. So put me down as a NO!!!

Door To Door? Not At Heathrow!
by Englishman inall this talk about whether door to door work is fruitful or not has really got me thinking.. so i was wondering, (a) how many jw's or ex's here were actually converted on the door, and (b) how many jw's or ex's here ever obtained a convert on the door?.
i made 2 converts whilst a jw, but 1 was the son of an interested person, the other was a wayward son of a weak sister so i get a zero.. my dad worked at london heathrow as an air traffic controller, he got 6 other controllers to join up, so if you're arriving in the uk, don't fly apostasy airways!
for all his frequent bouts of vac pioneering, i don't think that he ever pulled a live one off the doors, so he gets a zero too.. my mum was quite a puller in her time but they were all friends of friends who came to sit in on bible studies etc, so, sorry mater, you get a zero also.. as a matter of fact, i'm wondering if the door to door work isn't completely pointless!.

I was born into it. My father was contacted at his place of business, the person then came and talked with my parents.
I never converted anybody.

I can't believe how many new ones are posting on the board today. It really is a pleasure to have all of you. No one can understand the importance of having an outlet like this. I think about all of the ones who years ago walked away from the org with no support system. They truly are the pioneers. Anyway, I just wanted to say welcome to all the new ones. I hope you get as much as of this message board as I have. I haven't been here too long myself but I'm grateful to have a place to come.

I'm a newbie too
by Flowerpetal ini just registered just today.
i am not a dissenter from jws--still an active member but i have an open mind and willing to listen to all who post here.
there have been some questions bugging me lately that have caused me to wonder about certain scriptures pertaining to being "born again.

Welcome. I myself am an inactive JW, I still go to some meetings but I haven't been in field service for a couple of years. I too started getting bugged about certain things. Ironically, it was during the study of "The Greatest Man" book that I started questioning things. Like...if Jehovah disowned the Israelites because of the way they treated his flock with all of the heavy burdens they put on them, could he ever disown his so-called chosen people on earth today. That was just one of many things that bugged me. Once you start to doubt one thing, it's like a domino effect. The more you learn the more frustrated you become. You may come away from here with more determination than ever that JW's have the truth, or you may discover, as many here, that not everything you've been taught has been exactly true. Either way, you are in for a rocky road. Your whole belief system is about to be questioned. I hope that you will ponder on all things that you read here. You owe it to yourself. I wish you the best in your journey. Try not to get overwhelmed.

JW evaluations?
by heff ini am new to this site.
i just want to say that its great, always nice to know that you're not alone in the fight.
i wish all current jws could be forced to sit and read through all these posts just once.....but thats dreaming, i guess.. it seems that from the psychological aspect the experience can be horrible.

Pink Songbooks - Green Bibles
by nicolaou inthose of us who've been around long enough will understand the title.
what we are looking for here are examples of the society's lack of taste.. for example, i'm sure our kingdom hall wasn't the only one in the 70's with dark brown carpeting that rose halfway up the walls and a nice trendy rubber plant in the corner of the platform!.

I remember one hall I was in, the new carpet they put in looked like pizza throw-up. No lie! It was terrible.

DF`ing Committees Need a Chaperone.
by Englishman ini remember, when i was but a lad, how a young sister of 15 was publicly reproved to the whole congregation for being sexually experienced.. a couple of years later, the same thing occurred with another young lady, who was forced to sob in front of everyone.. even then, with all my j-dub imprinting, i recall feeling outraged at the congregations treatment of these girls.
i felt that the way that they had been dealt with was far more intrusive and abusive than anything that they may have experienced in their first sexual forays.. i recall feeling very deeply that it was very wrong for a female to have to submit herself to the interrogations of 3 middle aged men, whilst she had to be alone in her guilt and misery as she endured their probing.. in later years, my ex-wife had to go through this experience.
ok, she was no shrinking violet, but again i felt most indignant on her behalf.. surely, this is not right?

I remember when I was 16 having to go through the humiliation of a kangaroo court hearing. Then again at 20. Neither time was for fornication, just getting a little too familiar with each other. The only thing they wanted to know was if we both were mutually satisfied. If I knew then what I know now...if only I could go back in time. My last experience with the "3 wise men" was a couple of years ago, almost got myself df'd for trying pot. It was a one-time thing, just curious about it, but nearly ended up df'd. Darn!
