PROCRASTINATION IS THE THIEF OF TIME !!
if someone has already noted this, then i apologise, but i have just received the awake and i could not help but be amazed at the paragraph on page 9 .. they admit now that u s national earthquake centre report that large quakes "fairly constant throughout 20th century" furthermore they say.
" note though that the fulfillment of jesus words (matt.24.7)does not require an increase in the number or power of earthquakes....distress is measured not by number or how they rate on the richter scale, but by the effect they have upon people".
apparently it is all our fault for building in the wrong place.. is this not a u turn?.
I think Fred and Mind are making an earthquake in this thread.

I LOVE THE SMURFS TOO :):)
i wanted to put this out to this community in general, although i know that there are no easy answers.. growing up a jw, it is difficult to not be somewhat socially retarded.
your social circle is prescribed, and widening out beyond the small group of the congregation is frowned on.
even 'excessive' association wiht neighboring congregations is frowned on.. the biggest challenge i have encountered as an ex-jw is this: how do you find quality people to befriend and associate with?.
My husband and I belong to the local legion and they have some great activities, we play darts and have tourneys and cards. You do not have to be a legion member to enjoy these activities. We have made some real nice friends. If you go to the Library they also have some interesting things going on, different lecturers, you can meet nice people. Or I have found out from the past that being a volunteer in a hospital opens a door to meeting nice people and at the same time you get satisfaction o meeting amazing patients from many walks of life.

PROCRASTINATION IS THE THIEF OF TIME!!
lilacs started a fluffy thread on what "men look for in a woman".
i think it only fair that we ladies have the opportunity to have our say!!!!!.
and.....it's time i had a fluff post.
Qualiities that I would look for in a man is;
He would have to send chills up and down my body and make me weak in the knees. I would like to look at him and see him smiling at me for no reason. Or just touch me softly and let me know his hands and heart are strong, caring and comforting. My man would have to smell like heaven and have a warm body that assures me that he takes pride in his body and in mine. His honesty and passion for living would give me strengh to life each and every day with him by my side as we travel the highway of life together. I would listen to his heart and hear the beats as his gentile hands would touch my breasts making me melt into a puddle of mush. Our hearts would have to be as one in thought and he would hear the things that are important to me. I need a man to take the lead in all that we do together. I need him to critisize in a way that doesn,t belittle or hurt me in front of others.
He has to kiss me and whisper things in my ears that send thrills down my body. The most important thing is that our lives are united as one. Respecting one another. Work and play together. Cry and laugh together. Holding hands that makes your very heart melt with his passion for living.
Actually I have this very man in my life right now and I thank God everyday for this incredable wonderful human being. Marco I love you!
sometimes, i try to be sad.. as the sun sets low, turning the rugged hills of arizona into soft, purple, fuzzy-looking rumpled cones, dappled in the red-orange reflections of failing sunlight, i stand upon a hill.
i try to reflect on what could have been.. i could have been part of a family that was close -- a family that hugged, laughed and cried together, always.
a family that strove not to take everything personally, but to see that even our attacks, especially our attacks, are projections of our own insecurities.
What could have been is a sobering reminder of what has happened to many of us, you expressed yourself eloquantly and with much sincerity. I feel your emotions in between your lines. Its too bad your family does'nt know what they are missing. You sound like a person who has come to accept the inevitable. Your strengths can be now directed to achieve the oneness of your own little family. I truly wish you all the best and an inner peace that no one can rob from you. It is sad that families fail to see that the only thing that has changed is our former religion, we still remain the person that we have always been. God help us all for who we are and not what others want us to be or become. We are all free of the burdens heaped upon us buy a religion that has stagnated us into being robots and now we are liberated from a suppression that has cost many of us greatly. As you gaze and remenice of life over the beauty of Gods creations may you derive tranquility in your own heart. My deepest thoughts are with and your own wonderful little family. God Bless.
