What films and TV shows couldn't you watch?
by sleepy inwhat films and tv shows couldn't you watch when you were a witness kid?.
i remmember being banded from watching scooby doo, ghostbusters ,e.t., (some british ones)count duckula, rent a ghost, well basicly anything with ghosts in it.. my parents wouldn't watch any films with much swearing in them, especially the f-word.. which is fair enought.but i don't notice swearing so sometimes i recommend a film without realising its got lots of naughty words.. sometimes a very sensitive brother from the hall would come round to visit, and he would be visably shocked if there was any sex or swearing in a tv programme which often made it embarassing when watching tv when he was round.. once when we had some friends round and we got waynes world out on video, a couple of the brothers walked out as they thought it too worldly.

We had a television but was rarely on because my parents said it belongs to Satan it was a one eyed monster. Of course dad would watch sports all that wholesome stuff. Fighting swearing blood, you know all the good stuff that goes along with good clean sports. Even as an adult my mother was mortified by the things I watched. And I even let my son watch them. Hey maybe she was on to something neither my son and I are no longer in the truth.
I really believe some parents go overboard and some are so lax. Anyway whenever I was at some one elses home I always watched televison and you'd be appalled at what some witnesses watch. Now there is the internet oh my what will parents do... -

Alan I so happy your daughter and her freinds will be alright. You are one cool dad. Man when my son fell of a bicycle and hurt himself I was hysterical. I hope her recovery is fast and she is back to her old self again. Wishing you and your family all the best.

Words are mightier than the sword. These are powerful statements. Thanks for sharing this information for all of us to read. Our outrage must be voiced.

Oregon
by kenpodragon inany fellow exjw's from oregon ... the beaver state ... ?
i left many years ago, but i know that when i did, oregon was the highest state in america for witnesses vs. the walking dead (worldly people who would fry at armageddon).
i don't see many of them now, but i figure they must also have the highest number of walk always, df'ed, and da'ed.

Sharing My Joy
by Sherri ini've not posted here for a long time, nor have i kept up even with browsing around, but i had a sudden urge to share my joy with the only group of people who might possibly understand how much this means to me.. i left the jws about 15 years ago, of course losing basically everyone i was close to in the process.
over the years, i've never forgotten my old friends.
sometimes i dream about them, and when i wake up i feel bad for hours, missing them and knowing that they are as good as dead to me.. i visited my family in october 2001 and my brother told me he had run into one of my old friends in a bar.

Wonderful news and I can certainly relate to your feelings of jubilation. I was in the org. for 38 yrs and was disfellowshiped in Jan 2000, When I was in the org. my best friend was disfellowshipped in 1993, we did everything together we were inseprable until that year I was deeply saddened by her demise and I never got over it. I would think of her all the time and I would have a good cry and go on in the org. myself. Well we were apart for 7yrs. About six months after me being disfellowshipped my best friends daughter saw me in the store. As she was never baptised I knew I could talk to her. We had a quick chat and I told her what happened to me, she said oh call my mom. Well at first I didn't call as I was not to sure how she felt about us and I not talking to her for 7 yrs. Well let me tell you the great part, she called around to some friends we use to have in common and then she called my ex husband and he went into a rage he didn't realize who she was and he told her Terry left me and I have no idea where she is. Well she finally reached my son and the rest is history, we picked up after 7 yrs as if they never existed. We are back in each others life now and the happiness we both feel is indiscribable. We will never allow anything to seperate us ever again.
So my dear friend there is gold at the end of the rainbow. Wishing you all the happiness you both deserve. May your joy be as great as mine and my dear friend bigfloppydog. aka Diane. -
