How BITE applies to non-Witness groups
by Londo111 ini am trying to compile information of how the bite system applies to groups other than the witnesses.
this will help witnesses consider the bite model in a non-threatening manner, because it applies to the 'other guy' and along the way they will see, hopefully, how it applies to their group.. .
for starters today, i found this link interesting.

My father is alcoholic and he went off and on the wagon through the years…he was the presiding overseer. I saw him drink heavily with another elder. Drunkenness is given a slap on the wrist, if that. I've never understand why it was suppose to be so "hard to prove".
I rarely drink and if so very lightly. For 30 years, I refused to touch a drop.

Why the Governing Body is not Evil
by garbonzo ini know that some of you don't personally think that the gb wants to cause harm or is only after the money, but after reading some posts on here, it seems like some of you do think that the gb is evil.. .
if you think about it, that doesn't make sense, but here is just one question.
why would the gb create a time limit on their organization if they believed it to be false?

" Men will expel YOU from the synagogue. In fact, the hour is coming when everyone that kills YOU will imagine he has rendered a sacred service to God."--John 16:2
If a person believes they are rendering sacred service to God, does that make their actions less evil? Therefore, if the Governing Body, though believing they are rendering sacred service, say forbid blood transfusions, and people die because of that, does it make them less bloodguilty?
In the past they:
* Forbid organ transplants.
* Refused to let people take alternative service and thus thousands went to jail.
* They let their people in Malawi suffer over a "political" card, while allowing those in Mexico to bribe officials into giving them a card to show they served a year in the military.
* They refused to allow victims of child abuse and their families to talk to the authorities.
And these are just a few of their favorite things…
Did they intend to be evil? I highly doubt it. Did their actions cause evil effects? Resoundingly Yes!

What a shame - but fortunate for the org
by Mickey mouse inas referred to in this thread, ray franz's book crisis of conscience, arguably the most important book for ex jws to read - has been out of print for months but is available from amazon at $100+.. internet explorer, probably the most commonly used internet browser - is not compatible with this website.. most young jws probably access the internet via a smartphone but good luck trying to post to this website on one.. .

What has or would motivate you to attend an Ex-JW meet up...
by Tuesday ini just wanted to get a general consensus of what are the motivations to attend an ex-jw meet up.
if you've already attended one before, what motivated you the first time or each successive time?
if you've never attended an ex-jw meet up before what do you think could motivate you to attend one?.

I needed a support group. Unfortunately, such meetups always had a low turnout. I'm assuming most are afraid of being spotted, especially by spies. I'm realizing I kind of took some risks there, and I'm looking for a more low profile approach myself these days.

It's interesting that their plans to sell were thwarted by the economic downturn.
In their mindset, I'm surprised they are not concluding, "Jehovah must want us to stay in Brooklyn."

COC in public libraries
by diamondiiz ini haven't researched this but do library have copies of this book?
did you ever look for coc or any other book in a local library when you were a believer or when you began to have doubts?
how hard is it to find this book in a public library?.

I just did a library search in the three largest counties in my metropolitan area--no copies of Crisis of Consience or In Search of Christian Freedom. However, Saturday, when I visited the library, I found two copies of the Proclaimers book. Under other circumstances, I might donate my hard copies to the library, but I don't dare. This is highly suspicious! Therefore, I will only lend them out to people I know and trust.
