It could just be rampant speculation generated by one member of Anonymous. Since they have no background in this cult, the speculation might seem plausible to them. But they might be drawing dotted lines where there are no real connections. If Bill Bowen is working with double-agents within Bethel in order to help victims that is a positive thing. To make the leap and say there is a secret pact between the Watchtower and he--that's much too far.

I will believe the allegation, if and when proof is presented.

In regard the Bowen allegations, this is the first I've heard of them. However, I take them for what they are: allegations. Until there is a shred of evidence presented, I will assume them false. Frankly, it sounds quite ludicrous.

While I hope Anonymous gives a major blow to the cult, I think this exemplifies the problem with vigilante justice. Imagine if they decided to hack this site and dump all our identities online…

I can't imagine a file of 20000 records or so would be that large. The data would be what? Names, congergations, elders involved, a description of the offense, ect...?

Were Elders told to mention the Faithful Slave / Governing Body / Organization more?

as of 5 years ago in my congregation, the "faithful slave" was rarely mentioned in talks, prayers, etc.

usually it was all about jehovah, and jesus got his token phrase at the end of a prayer with "in jesus name, amen".. now, in the past couple years i've noticed, especially since the elders have gone to the elders school, almost everytime an elder prays, and in many of the talks, there is mention of the faithful slave, organization, or governing body.

"thank you jehovah for giving us your organization, which provides us food at the proper time", "how thankful we are that the faithful slave provides..", etc.. for any elders who went to the elders school, did they specifically say to build more appreciation in the organization, faithful slave, etc.

I have noticed this. Over time, it has gone from "The Faithful and Discreet Slave", to "the Faithful Slave", to now just "The Slave." "The Slave" is the first person of the Watchtower Trinity. Jesus seems to be viewed simply as a member of Jehovah's organization, a principle member, but still a member. Therefore, the organization, "Mother", is greater than Jesus.

i just thought you should know that mrs cedars has finally taken the plunge and joined the forum.

she was able to log on for the first time yesterday.. though we both "awakened" at different stages, mrs cedars was very supportive and non-judgmental when i first began exploring my beliefs from a critical standpoint.

she is currently in the process of reading crisis of conscience and aquainting herself with some of the facts of witness history that were hitherto unknown.

The persona of Anonymous can be somewhat creepy sometimes. W hat could they do that those on this board haven't been doing for years, only with a lot more finesse?

I am concerned the tone will cause many Witnesses to rally around Mother, especially since they believe that any time now, Satan will led the world in an all out attack on the organization. Not to mention the whole Evil Slave mythology. These are memes the Scientologists did not have…therefore it wouldn't backfire as much.

For the last few months, for once a month, I've had a 'Bible' study with two active Witnesses who are sort of related to me, I can't say anymore without being less anonymous. We do things like read a chapter of the Bible, review issues like 1975, or read from In Search of Christian Freedom.

The fact that they have not informed on me or even let me speak is amazing, but there does not seem to be much progress. The body language of one is very tense, and of course, I feel this person is often looking for a way out of the discussing these things. Verbally though, there is agreement in many of the things I saw. There is lip service to fading in their own time, in their own way. But actions and body language say something else.

This one denies mind control among Witnesses, but this person definitely is under the spell like many are…they just are in utter denial. Mind control is a tough thing to fight.

'Obey the organization like Moses'--why this is wrong

i was just thinking about how the watchtower often compares the organization's position to that of moses.

challenging moses, in their retelling of the biblical account, equated challenging god's authority, as korah, dathan, and abiram did, to their own peril.

the conclusion we are to gain from this is not to challenge, question, or disagree with the watchtower society's teachings even in our private thoughts.

The Society has sat itself in the seat of Moses, like the Pharisees of old.

Moses had credentials as a prophet, but the Society does not. They claim to be God's channel of communication, but cannot produce a single miracle to prove it. In fact, according to Moses at Deuteronomy 18, the Society has the credentials of a false prophet, because they have spoken with presumption things that did not come true.

The Prophet like Moses that was foretold to come, that is the Greater Moses, was not the Society, but Jesus Christ. Therefore, the Society not only sits in the seat of Moses, but on Christ's throne.

The growing Catholic Hierarchy of the 2 nd and 3 rd century also used the Moses vs Korah story to consolidate power in the bishops. The Society likes to use their playbook on quite a few things. For instance: they believe the Bible alone is not sufficient, one needs Mother. Catholics would agree, only differing who Mother is.
