what would you say to a governing body member if you had the chance?
a few years back while i was a jw i visited my sister and brother-in-law at bethel.
well, after the grand tour of crooklyn, the farm and having dinner with the bethel family i had the honor of attending the sunday meeting at a congregation where a couple of the governing body members attended.

what's more important?
what i'm getting at is, is it more important to impose your views on what is right in the bible, or to encourage other members of your religion?.
i remember that my past seems to be more a memory of elders telling people "oh, that's wrong.
What's more important? What's done or what's not done?
What I'm getting at is, is it more important to impose your views on what is right in the bible, or to encourage other members of your religion?
I remember that my past seems to be more a memory of elders telling people "Oh, that's wrong." Than it is of elders telling people "Hey, I'll work with you on the ministry, and I'll generally try and help you out."
I think you know what I'm getting at. If anyone can phrase it in a more clear way, that'd be a help.

you guys are going to love this one.
can't say i've ever seen a book burning down at the old kh.
feel free to turn it into a link.. http://www.alamogordonews.com/stories/0,1002,9596%257e295774,00.html.
I detect an imposition of a fellow-witnesses conscience in the air.
Again.
Anyway, this kind of thing is old hat. Do a web search ona decent search engine using key words like evil and potter and see what you find.

what is evil?.
who defines what is truly evil?.
if someone lived a trillion x longer than you, and had a billion x more reasoning ability would he come to the same conclusions as you?.
"Next as to the 2 choices I will give you a third plus a few more"
You say that it'd be more, but these are just sub-categories inside of Farkels all-inclusive two categories. So you haven't stated more, simply shown you never understood what Farkel said.
"As to your more down to earth illustration from Numbers(better than donald duck). I don't know enough and neither do your to call this right or wrong, and I direct you to my profile signature for the logic behind my refrain from judgement"
But given Farkel's reasoning, then we DO know enough to say whether it's right or wrong. Farkel uses the biblical definition of right ie an action God performs, and asks you to say whether THIS is an action God performs or not, hence whether it is right.
And your profile signature, asking whether, essentialy, someone more intelligent than you would come up with the same conclusions, well, that depends whether he had more data on the given situation, and I suggest that you alter your signature to fit in with your attempt at a point, or alter your point to fit in with your signature.
Interestingly, we're getting into how to define RIGHt or WRONG, not GOOD and EVIL.
Odd how many people confuse the two.

“That’s circular reasoning. You are using the conclusion to prove the premise, which you use to prove the conclusion, which you use to prove the premise which you use to prove the… See what I mean?”

I never heard this type of reasoning did you make that up?"
Well, actually, no he isn't. The argument he is describing is called a tautology, from the latin word for circle.

So God often uses Satan as his tool?
Hmm. SOunds like a deliberate attempt to make Satan into an agent of God, to me.

one part of the watchtower study really got my goat!.
i know its not original thinking but , paragraph 17 of study article said .
"jehovah's longsuffering is lasting longer than some have anticipated, however that is no reason to give up, to do so would be tantamount to criticizing god for being longsuffering".
Mister Machislopp (above) has hit the nail right on the head, there.

i've been looking at this letter for some time.. and researching it's origins.. i can't find anything conclusive, really.
i can't locate a denial of its existance from the society, but i haven't got access to any literature anymore, having left it all behind when i moved country to america from england.
so...is there any reference to it in, for example, the proclaimers book?.
thanks for the help

even to witnesses the title given to bethelites is surprising!.
*** yb99 27 highlights of the past year ***.
at present, 17,781 in bethel families around the earth render service as members of the order of special full-time servants.. most would think the wts was free of religious 'orders' and the like.
There have often been titles given, it seems, as incentives.
I mean, you think Jesus would approve distinguishing between people who does fifty unregistered hours in the field work and someone who does fifty, but with a "pioneer form" regisration?

ok. i have a question.
i was raised jw - actively in it for the first 23 years of my life.
god, i remember at 13 thinking all i wanted to do was grow up and work at bethel; puke!
If you mean, where is the reference to Satan putting the star there, then there isn't one. It's reached by reasoning, which goes "If leading the wise men to the baby in the manger would mean that herod, who wanted to kill that baby, finding him, then it cannot have been sent by God, therefore it was sent by the devil."
