i was looking at the link nelly has posted for the bethel tours and went to the comment sections.

they had posted a comment from a "spiritual widow" and i had to wonder what the heck they meant by that???

what do they consider her hubby already dead???

i have posted many times about my jw friend, who still talks to me.

for years we have maintained our friendship, because i have never been df'd or da'd.. she called me this morning to tell me that her husband is being called in for a meeting, by the elders, to discuss her association with me.

we are wondering, now, if a lurker on this board has turned her in.

as you can tell, i am another newbie, so i thought i would introduce myself.

i have been quietly reading the posts for some time now and thought it time to join in.. i am a 53 year old grandpa (neither daughter or their husbands are jw) married to jw woman with three kids, ages 15, 16, 17. therein lies the source of my discourgement and subsequent disassociation from the jws.

i outlined my involvement with the jws in my profile, if any are interested.

wow, i haven't posted on here in a long time... i lurked, back in the winter of '00, and posted in early '01 a few times.

looking back on those posts, and other stuff written, it amazes me how much can change... i thought to integrate myself into this web community i'd tell some of my story.... i was not raised in the truth.

i fell in love with a jw boy when i was 20 and married him.

well, friends, this could be the beginning of the end for me.

im not sure what, if anything, is going to happen to me in the next few weeks, so ill have to wait and see.

i only got into being a dub after marrying a woman who grew up in it but was never baptised.

her father was the typical overbearing elder, in it primarily for the prestige, but never practicing what he preached.

after a few years into the marraige she had what could best be described as a so called very emotional "spiritual awakening" in a meeting i accompanied her with to a couple of brothers.

subtract and voila, many of you married young, by which i mean before 20 years of age.

Position on College Changed?

several have made outright statements and others have suggested that the society's negative position on higher education has changed.

'the society does not discourage higher education where i live.

' worse, 'apostates have made it all up--the society has never discouraged education.

i thought the name of this thread was so on time for this thread demostrates one of the sad things about claiming to speak for god, when one actually does not.. when i was a newly appointed elder at the tender age of 27 .

i was introduced to the world of the judical committee.. it was in fact my first case.

i had gotten a call from the po before the meeting stating that their would be an elders meetings to discuss some judical matters.
