a non jw relative who is a staunch critic of the wt attends the memorial with us every year, but just because she enjoys worshiping with her relatives.

she fought against my parents becoming witnesses before i was born.

she owns the book 30 years a wt slave and suggested i read it.

I went to that snorefest (purely out of respect to my wife) since it is a watershed day for her. I was waiting for them to announce, but I guess they knew better. They also severely chided any who would even think that they were privileged enough to "partake".

My mother-in-law was with us as all of her other kids want to have nothing to do with her.....at least.....I suspect.....until she dies when I expect for them all to come out of the closet wanting their cut.

If i have any way in the matter, and withoug divulging too much I surely will, I see that they get from the estate a direct proportion to the time they spent with her during her final days.

and i'm sure new folks have joined since then.

i am really curious of how others came to know ttatt.. for me is was a real bad experience with one elder after another.

Two elders sitting in my home telling me that school was a waste of time and that I should be spending all that time in service. Though I had checked lout years before, I happen to look in the religion section of the library, checked out CoC, read it, and that was all she wrote.

congregations are to pledge a monthly amount to be sent to the society to fund the building of assembly halls and kingdom halls.

congregations who already have a loan from the society will no longer have to pay back the loan but the amount pledged should not be less than the current monthly repayments to the society.

so if you are still an attender, how many use their tablets or ipads during the mtg for 'non theocratic' purposes?.

i often log on here, and post during the mtg (if no one is sitting behind me that would notice).

I remember being at an assembly and watching a pre-teen kid watch episodes of the Chappell show.

If you've ever been around David Chappell's humour, you gotta know that it is certainly not JW approved......

Elderettes?

hey everyone i'm new here.

i'm not baptised but i've been qoute on qoute 'studying' for the past 4-5 years.

i'm almost 20. i've been lurking and i've seen a lot of posts about elderettes.

I don't know....the elderettes in the first congregation I was a member of held considerable power over their limp dick husbands and weilded it unmercifully. Two in particular ran roughshod over remodels. Another was privy, through pillowtalk, to all the details of what was going on with people in the Kh and was not shy about talking about it in car groups.

I remember one evening at the end of the service where there were two disfellowshippings announced....an elders wife and a MS. Everyone was stunned and their kids ran out of the hall crying as if their lives had come to an end. The next daay, we were told that they ran off together. At the next assembly, the supposedly "innocent" parties, the elder and the MS's wife, walked into the arena hand in hand as if they were king and queen for the day.

Can you say "wife swap". There was no freaking way that was a coincidence.

Just got a call from an elder

so i faded over a year ago...i told the elders that if i needed them i would call them.

1 year and 3 months later, today, i get a call from an elder who used to be my good friend...he calls and i dont pick up..he leaves a voicemail, saying "hello ____, please call me back at 444-444-4444 whenever you can".

i was like wow, this has to be one of those calls to get inactive ones back to the memorial.
