I am a black male and I can assure you that this person does not speak for all the people of color. This broad generalized statement reeks of a typical, low intellect poster who's probaly just trolling around starting trouble. It's amazing that this person can even post the signature "in Christ".

certainly not from recreation or outings among other witnesses.
By keeping them busy, the Watchtower ensures that they will have no time to pursue activities which might lead them astray.
The WT ensures that they will have no activities at all. I have observed that most JW's participation in JW activities can best be described as mechanical. The robot automaton that blindly does only what it's told.
Those who rarely attend meetings are either unconsciously towing the party line or they're defending the WT only because it's the only thing they've known for their whole life.

i'm new to this board and just wanted to share my story with everyone here.
i used to live in arizona.
i was very shy and quiet when i was younger.
When the news broke about the sexual scandal within the WT my JW relatives did just what I expected them to do. They resorted to character assasination of the accusers and then started spouting out JW propaganda.
I think experiences like yours are more typical of what the WT is about.
i posted a few months ago with my frustration when the make a wish foundation had promised a wish to my cousin that is 7 with cerebral palsy and then took their promise away.
well i am happy to say that through advocacy on my part and my cousins part, the starlight foundation is going to send him this june!!!

Is CNN apostate?
I got a call from a relative telling me to go to CNN's site and check out the story. They were surprised that I already knew all about it when I relayed to them almost word for word what the story was about. First they tried questioning the integrity of Bowen but when I reminded them that although he's being brought before a JC that he was currently a member in good standing. I raised the question that isn't it curious that they've taken the position to go after him at this particular time just for speaking out?
This issue is bound to come up in a later discussion ,in which case i'm going to use the opportunity to tell them that the WT has another problem that they have been and are desperately trying to keep a secret. I'll take that as an opportunity introduce them as a group to the UN fiasco and watch them try to explain their way out of that.
here is a response from a dub whom i emailed the press link from the courier journal yesterday (i will be meeting with him in a couple weeks, so any comments/rebuttals from you would be greatly appreciated):.

JW's defense of the Watchtower is merely a thinly disguised effort to defend THEMSELVES PERSONALLY.
You know, I've really never thought of it that way. Perhaps that would explain why when any issue that comes up that paints the WT negatively, they'll turn rabid and attack the messenger like a pack of wolves. The original issue will always seem to get lost in the defense of the character of the individual bringing up the question.
It just irritates me to know end how JW's will attack the Catholic Church about a problem that's going on in their own backyard. It'll be interesting what excuse they'll come up with for the WT when Dateline airs.
I'm planning on using that program to bring up the UN issue. Should be a lot of fun watching them trying explain that one away.
i'm kind of new here...i don't post much, but i read the board almost daily.
i have a question that maybe some of you might be able to answer, or at least give me some suggestions.
i am divorced and have custody of 2 beautiful, well-behaved children, ages 9 & 6. their father is a jw and i have drifted away, so i could say i'm mostly out of the org.. when they are with me we do not go to meetings, but when they see their father every other wkend they go meetings with him and his wife, and sometimes to service.. i have read that many of you were brought up in a divided household where one parent is a jw and the other is not.
A bunch of great advice given here. I can only add that you make sure you keep the lines of communication open with your kids. Talk with them constantly offering alternatives to the indoctrinating they are receiving and above all else, encouraging them to always think for themselves and question everything. They'll soon discover for themselves how suffocating and stifling being a JW is and make their way out without you firing a shot at your ex.
