Seriously though, I was one of those faithful who fell for that line when I was being dub-trinated? The elder I used to study with and the prissy pioneer my wife studied with used to tell us that all the time.

The so-called "great teaching work" to come.

My S.A.D. experience

for those who have been out of touch for more than a few years, a s.a.d.

is the special assembly day.

i attended the sad in brooklyn this weekend and thought you might enjoy some of the highlights.. the morning began with two "telling" illustrations.

I told my friends I was going to college. They said Armageddon would be here before I graduated.

I got the same spiel from the "elder Pairs" that came to my house every other weekend for six months when I decided to go back to school. they told me that I'd never make much more money than what I was making at the time flipping burgers. Told me I could do so much more if I spent more time in my "ministry", reached out for more "Privileges", and if I'd just "wait in Jah" a little more.

Yeah-Right!!!

Freeness of Speech

have you ever been told that you do not qualify for a privilege because you lack," freeness of speech".this lack of "freeness of speech" may be the result of something you did or did not do.

also some member of your family could of done something or failed to do something and so the elders decided that you do not have" freeness of speech" because of it.

and so you did not qualify for a privilege.

I would've thought that too much real "freeness of speech" would disqualify you from being an elder.

when we were all in the errmmm..eh hem....cough cough..."truth".how did you react to people who said negitive things about the organization and when they called it a cult?

i recall one time,this young man tried to gentally aprouch me,he put his hand on my shoulder and he started to say,its a cult...and i remember my whole body tensed up and i practically went into a seizure to his touch.i just remember he took his hand away from me and stepped back very slowly.he stayed away from me the rest of the nite.lol,poor guy he must have tought i was a complete nutt.. i'm just glad i can laugh about it now,of course i wish i listened to him.. even the other day,i was talking to my mother and she was saying how upset i used to get with her....

I remember a Sunday speaker saying that the JWs were not a cult because cults follow a man and the JWs follow Jehovah.

My still brainwashed dub in-laws trot out that weak excuse everytime JW's are accused of being a cult. I guess they are correct in that they do not follow one-man but in their blind devotion to the WT, the GB and the FDS, they are in effect following a man-made entity and God.

Reminds me of a piece of scripture one of my in-laws loves to babble about how people will "gulp down the camel, but choke on the gnat".

what is this preoccupation that jw have where they feel they hold the patent and use of certain words?

I was talking to my still indoctrinated wife about something the other day and I reminded her that this is the day where we'll be going over to one of my friend's house for a cookout he's been planning for a couple of months. Out of her mouth comes,"Oh....he's your "friend" now??? Me, looking her dead in the eye letting her know that I'll not be intimidated, "Yes.....he is."

This is a guy I've worked with for a long time. We collaborate, help each other out and research solutions to work related problems. Though we don't spend any time together outside of work related activities, I consider him a friend more so than those elders who, under so-called divine inspiration, actively tried to talk me out of getting myself educated and raising my standard of living in favor pf peddling magazines door to door.

A real friend doesn't make association with you contingent upon whether or not you blindly follow some man made organization.

A real friend wont harshly judge you because you've made a decision about your life that runs contrary to their beliefs.

A real friend doesn't turn their back on you at the drop of a hat or the word of a faceless and nameless governing body.

A real friend doesn't look for reason's to rat you out to an elder body to curry favors and enhance their image.

The JW interpretation of "friend" is and oxymoron at best, an outright lie at worst.

What other things can you think of that JW's do that run counter to the real meaning of "friend"?

principled while leaving behind the weak, emotionally stunted, and ignorant.

What a great description of the Governing body !!!!!!!

Those dubs left over should identify well with the old geezers.

These are the "experiences" you won't hear about in any of the publications or as an assembly part, but, they are more inspiring and realistic, than the canned polished presentations we've all been exposed to during those indoctrinating sessions.

My Humble Uneducated Opinion!

i would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your valued input on this board.

i will never forgive you for making it almost impossible for me to give up coming here.

this turned out to be like a drug for a weak willed person like myself.

That has got to be one of the most complete exposee's (sp) of the WT and JW's that I've heard in a while. Rest assured, with that assessment of the WT, there's not too many here that would be offended.

They keep their members so immature it is hard to believe that they are grown adults capable of making their own decisions.

With the dumbing down of their litterature and the constant admonitions to follow the FDS and constantly be second guessed by countless WT and Awake articles, it's not surprising how Immature JW's are. My wife's a 3rd generation JW from birth. Any decision I don't specifically make for her is filtered through one of their publications. If I hadn't taken back control of my life from dubdom some 10 years ago, we'd still be living in roach infested apartments and I'd still be slinging burgers in Houston area greasy spoons, all the while being convinced that all that I have is a "blessing from Jehovah"

Having countless strangers hopping into bed at an early age without the slightest idea as to what they are doing or the serious nature of a relationship.

The few years I spent inside, I saw more arranged marriages fall apart then can be counted on both hands and feet. Kids who clearly had nothing in common other than the urge to have sex married off without question. Couples where, to this day, one is usually using WT publications to justify oftentimes violent domination over the other.

okay.. so about 3 months ago, my company ordered in a guy from a temporary agency to help out with some of the filing and billing.

for arguments sake, well call him adrian.

anyway, as soon as he started here, i recognized him from the assemblies.
