  was there a single scripture that finally made perfect sense as you were tempted to leave and allowed you to do so in good conscience?

  maybe it was the one that never made sense until you were out?

  was there one that seemed to sum it all up after you left?

  What did it for me was not one particular scripture, but more the haughtiness and single-minded attitude of the people in the org with regards to following WT rules without question. Also I tired on the incessant WT trumpeting of thier own horn and their disguising this as doing God's will.

  I remember when I was just a study being quite happy that I was learning what I thought were new truthful things about the bible. It was at a low stage in my life and marriage and I got caught up in all the attention lavished upon me as a potential convert. But the "love bombing" slowly turned into elder and WT domination as I naively allowed the WT to chip at and finally control every thought, every decision I was making in my life.

  My turning point, as so many others, came when I had to make a decision about getting an education and improving myself financially, then having elders from the congregation who didn't know me or my situation telling me that I was wasting my time, the end is coming soon, and that my time would be best spent in the preaching work. These visits, I believe, were instigated by my wife although she swears up and down that she had nothing to do with them.

  I decided then that with or without her, I needed to take back my life.

  Its really nice to see you posting again. Your singular wit and insight is what mainly brings me back to this board now and again. I only wish I had someone of your knowledge and experience of the borg put a bug in my ear when I was in the process of being sucked into the borg's evil clutches.

  I really hated that song. My wife and son used to run around the house singing it when he was in elementary school. Sounded so "nursury rhymish" and infantile to me then and even more so now.

  here in jamaica queens new york, one of the congregations is named, rochdale congregation.

  my brother-in-law went to the meeting at this congregation this past sunday and he saw that notices from the wts have been posted on the bulletin board which officially say that the wts is moving all printing operations upstate to either patterson or wallkill.

  I am guilty of placing a few rags and maybe going on a few RVs but I never had a study, nor can I say that I was earnestly searching for one. I did happen to accompany the elder I was studying with on one of his studies but after a few minutes there, it was apparent to me that this disabled out of work guy was just humouring him because he needed some steady company.

  In the whole 40 years my wife has been associated with the "trooth" I think she's only had about 6 or 7 studies, most of whom were her younger brothers and sisters whom she became obsessed with saving after she was newly baptised some 15 years ago. The other 2 or 3 she had quickly discontinued their study for reasons unknown, but I suspect that these people questioned others about the org and took a pass.

  When I was still in, I used to hear of the phenomena of JW's "praying" for a study and then when they get one, feeling that they were blessed by Jah somehow. My gut told me it was a crock then but now, I can't believe people could be so stupid as to fall for that.

  Was anyone else here privy to the phenomena of "praying for a study"?

  being reasanable to assume that,they are promoting fear within the congregations,keeping others from asking awkward questions,it seems that no one is interested in the reasons why that other person was named and shamed,what a way to control people , one minute they are your best friends the next minute you bump into them say in the high street and you dont seem to exist within there boundarys or vision ,.

  my remedy .if you are in this position is to greet them very loudly laughingly saying hallo there ,big wave big smile,be carfull of those paedophiles your mixing with.

  ( nice & loud ) next time they see you they will run to the otherside of the road,instead of trying to intimidate you.

  I'd read that AUG KM when my wife brought it home, but I think the significance of what it actually said went right over her head. Just like your son "didn't even notice" what it actually said, she didn't either. But she still doesn't understand the significance of the change in the generation doctrine either. When I tried explaining that to her the defensive wall came up and she jumped to full "we b persecuted" mode. It's amazing how they just seem to "follow the leader" without even trying to comprehend what the leader is doing.

  Maybe this is the catalyst needed for him to really see how much of a control oriented organization the soceity is. Hopefully, how they deal with him will open his eyes to what the org is really about.

  I hope you plan on sharing the conclusion of this personal saga. It was a riveting read.

  I've not been affected either and I'm not afraid of them. My wife made a snide comment to me about how I treated them when they came to the door the last time to which I reminded her that until they start paying bills around here that they don't get to call any shots spritual or otherwise.

  ok. i called the p.o.

  and smoothed (pressured) him over, he will be here at noon saturday... my brother and i have worked him over on the phone , and he already admitts he can't prove jesus choose the wt in 1919 etc etc...as he can't get the older wt's.... so he's speaking presumptuously...... i did a little studying today , and he is in big trouble... we will keep him on the subject, at all costs... and the subject will be false prophecies of the wt... i have decided to just wing it, and throw out all kinds wt rotten food.... mike is hot over here and i'm quite sure we can have his head spinning in short order.... we are going to hit the finished mystery book hard... but i am open for any ideas to put the last nail in his coffin....john
